Chapter 68
The cold splash of water on her face made Samara jolt awake instantly. Her eyes slowly fluttered open as she tried to make out her surroundings. She realized then that she was in a dark room illuminated with only a small white bulb where she sat.
"W-where.... Where am I? What the..." she tried to move, but she was tightly chained to a chair. All her efforts to break free remained futile.
"Don't waste your time honey, you're currently held captive by the finest bonds of steel.... Nothing, not even the strongest wolf powers can break free.."
She was hearing the voice of a man, but couldn't make out anyone with her eyes because of the poor lighting.
A figure came into view then, the dominant voice belonged to a tall heavily muscled wolf, whose face was covered with a mask.
"Who are you?" She yelled. "What do you want with me???"
"Oh honey, you're not the one we're targeting..."
"Then why am I here???"
"You're here only as bait dear, we are simply trying catch a bigger fish."
"Who are you? Show your face immediately!!!!"
A chuckle echoed through the room, followed by a statement, "sorry dear, but that's not going to happen."
"If you can't tell me who you are, then at least tell me what you want with me. Why did you kidnap me? Do you want money or something???"
"Such a smart girl, at least , you're getting closer but you're not there yet."
"Ha! If it's money you've kidnapped me for, then you've done nothing but wasted your time! I am just a guard in the night shadow force. The highest ranking I've ever achieved is that of the acting beta, I never even had the power nor wealth that came with it."
"Of course, we know all that. We have spies in every territory that help us obtain all the information we need. We know everything about you Samara, including your alliance with the Lotus beta."
Her heart sprang as she denied it instantly, "that's a lie! I have no alliance of any such with anyone outside my pack. I would never betray my alpha if that's what you're insinuating."
"I never made mention of you betraying your alpha, Samara. I simply said you had an alliance with the Lotus beta."
Speechless for a moment, she's been found out. There was nothing she could say to deny it anymore.
"Whatever!" She stormed. "So now that you've found out, are you going to kill me now? If you are going to, then make it quick!"
"Ha! Ha! Ha! I love your energy Samara, it's exactly why we chose to kidnap you, because Walden wouldn't be able to do without such energy for a long time."
"What are you talking about?"
"You betraying the alpha nor the money isn't the reason why you are here Samara. In fact, we want the same thing that you do."
"And what is that?"
"We want to kill Walden."
"That would be very much impossible for you. You'd need so much as an army to kill someone as powerful as he is from the outside."
"We know, and unfortunately, we don't have such resources, and you spoke well of us just being on the outside, which brings us to the reason why you are here..."
"Why am I here???? Tell me now!!!" She demanded.
"You are here Samara, because you're the one we've found that is most closest to Walden's heart, even more than his own blood. He cherishes you more than anything, and would even risk his life to come here to save you, that's the only reason why you are here."
"You want to use me as bait? So you can capture Walden... He's the one you really want...?"
"Smart Samara. So smart Samara."
"Why? Why do you want to kill him??? What did he ever do to you?"
"That's none of your concern. I've told you enough already, better be ready for when he comes, as we'll soon be sending him a ransome note to come for your rescue."
"And if Walden cones here, if you capture him, you'd have gotten what you wanted already. What will you do with me then?" She feared the answer already in her heart.
The kidnapper only revealed to her, because there's nothing she could do about it anyway... "if Walden comes, sure it means I've gotten what I wanted already. Such a shame that I'll have no use for you anymore."
She gasped.
The kidnapper nodded, confirming her fears, "yes dear. So better pray he comes here on time so your death will be quick like you requested."
A moment.
Her head was bent in frustration, and she began to hear footsteps. Her captor was leaving! She has to do something, anything to save her life! She does not care any less about what this man chooses to do with Walden, but she is not ready to die for anyone!
"Wait!!!" She yelled, calling.
The kidnapper turned back to her direction. She could spot a glint in his eyes through the mask.
"What is it?" He asked.
"You've got the wrong person."
"What do you mean???"
"I'm not the one who js closest to Walden's heart at all. There is someone else."
"That's not the report I received from my spies. According to them, he puts you as a priority above anyone else and even spends the most time with you."
"I know, he does all that for me, but that could mean anything. We WERE childhood friends after all, but this one, he cares about this one so much more than he does for me. He could even go as far as risking hisi life for her. I'm am nothing but a friend to him, but this woman, she's the one that's supposed to be on this seat, not me."
"I see, so who is this person that I may have missed?"
"If I tell you, do you promise to let me go and go after her instead?"
He shrugged, "I will consider it."
"Fine, I'll tell you..."
"I'm waiting."
"Her name is Miranda."
