Within a few minutes, Zhang Fumin and Yuan reached the area where normal people live and rushed towards a specific house in the midst of it.
As they reached closer, they suddenly heard the cry of a woman, her voice filled with terror and pain "Arghhhh!!! Let me goooo!! I-It hurts...."
Zhang Fumin's heart sank upon hearing the scream and a mutter escaped her lips "Xia?"
They rushed in and saw a fragile blonde-haired woman being forcefully dragged across the floor with her hair being pulled by a middle aged woman.
The fragile woman was trying to fight back by fisting the middle aged woman's hand, however, the middle aged woman stopped and gave a kick to the woman's face with her heel.
"Urghhh!" The young woman yelled in pain and blood burst out of her nose as it flowed to her lips.
She closed her eyes in pain and she could taste the irony of the blood on her lips.
"What the hell are you doing?"
Screaming in rage, Zhang Fumin walked in and the middle aged woman raised her head as surprise flashed across her face.
"Fumin..."
The woman's grip on Ning Xia's hair loosened and she fell to the ground. *thud*
A small smile appeared on Ning Xia's lips as she saw Zhang Fumin's face through her blurred vision "Y-Young Lady... urgh..."
Zhang Fumin walked closer to the middle aged woman and raised her hand, giving her a bitch slap across the woman's face.
"Ahhh!!" The woman's neck snapped to the left and she turned her head glaring at Zhang Fumin.
"YOU!"
A cold glint passed through Zhang Fumin's eyes as she uttered "What are you doing to her?"
The woman let out a derisive scoff, her fingers lightly brushing against her cheek and replied "It's because you haven't paid the house rent for this month."
"So... I called up someone to sell her as a slave and get my money."
Zhang Fumin gripped her first in frustration but then she controlled her anger and a bag of coins appeared on her hand.
Tossing the bag into the woman's hands, she muttered "Get lost."
The woman also didn't say much because, even though Zhang Fumin is in such a low state, she is still the daughter of the king.
So she silently left the room.
Meanwhile, at the same time, Yuan walked closer to the woman, who was lying on the floor in agony.
His gaze trembled as he remembered the pain he experienced and how fragile humans are.
Kneeling on the ground, he gently reached out and took Ning Xia's body placing it on his thighs.
The woman's eyelashes fluttered and she opened her eyes to look at who it was.
"Young lady..."
H-Huh? However, she was confused because she could only see snow white hair and couldn't even see the man's face, as the tears in her eyes were blurring her vision.
"Young Lady..."
Yuan extended his hand, his fingers grazing her cheek which was bruised by beatings and gazed at the blood flowing down her lips.
*swoosh* At this time, she suddenly felt a refreshing energy fill up her body and Ning Xia was taken aback.
"W-What is happening?"
She felt the pain in her body disappearing and the Yuan reached out wiping the tears from her eyes.
Ning Xia's gaze became clear and blinking her eyes, she took a good look and was instantly smitten.
The man's long white hair cascading on the sides of his face, his face handsome and a deep concern etched on his golden eyes looking at her.
Feeling the soft touch of his fingers on her cheek, she closed her eyes and his charming voice reached her ears.
"Are you okay now?"
Ning Xia inadvertently nodded her head and opened her eyes, looking into his beautiful eyes "Yeah... I am."
Hearing her speak, a gentle smile graced Yuan's lips and she could see that he was genuinely happy for her.
Her heart fluttered, feeling his soft gaze and a blush instantly painted her cheeks charmed gy his affectionate gaze.
"U-Um..." As she tried to speak, Zhang Fumin hurriedly walked to them and kneeled beside them.
"Xia..."
Ning Xia snapped out of her reverie and instantly turned her head to look at Zhang Fumin.
"Young Lady..."
Zhang Fumin reached out and wiped the blood on Ning Xia's face with her palm "I am sorry... Xia. Forgive me."
Ning Xia pulled herself from Yuan's thighs and kneeled on the ground, bowing her head "No, Young Lady... it's perfectly alright." she said with a radiant smile on her face.
Huh? Yuan was surprised to see her beautiful smile and was instantly smitten to see that she could smile brightly even during such a hard time.
Zhang Fumin hugged Ning Xia as she patted her back "No Xia... I shouldn't have left you... I made a grave mistake."
"Sorry for abandoning you and running away."
Ning Xia hugged her back still keeping the smile on her face "No worries, Young lady... I am your maid after all. You don't have to care about me."
Tears welled up in Zhang Fumin's eyes as she hugged her tightly "You... idiot."
Yuan blinked his eyes in surprise because this was his first time seeing Zhang Fumin cry.
Even when she was bearing a grave injury, she was strong and escaped from the mobs.
But she is crying right now...
Yuan's gaze trembled as he realized.. she was crying because of these emotions.
She is crying because someone close to her, whom she holds dear, got hurt...
This is exactly what he craves for. Human beings are fragile yet fascinating beings...
A little later, they pulled back from the hug and Ning Xia was startled to see the tears on Zhang Fumin's cheeks "S-Sorry, Young lady.. I made you cry,"
Zhang Fumin pinched her cheek softly "You idiot..."
Ning Xia then turned her gaze to the handsome man and the blush on her face deepened "A-And this.. man um... he is?"
