Sold as Slave Chapter 52

Third Person’s POV “These are the people who benefited from your father’s death.” Sebastian showed the list of people who worked with Agatha’s father in the past. The two of them were inside a cat café, investigating Agatha’s father’s possible murder case. “If we tried to analyze each of them, we might find a clue to see who is most likely the suspect,” Sebastian narrowed. Agatha studied the lists of names along with the pictures of them. Among them, she recognized Mikhail’s father. “Mikhail’s dad?” she asked, pointing at the picture. “Ahhh, y-yeah,” Sebastian said, then he drank his bubble tea. “He was your father ex-partner, so I included him to the lists.” Agatha tilted her head. It was grueling to imagine that her ex-fiance’s father would kill her father, so she excluded him right away. “Thanks for always helping me, Sebastian,” she thanked. “You talked as if I am a stranger. Helping you is the most natural thing to do. I appreciate your ‘Thank you’, but hey, you don’t need to say that.” Agatha bet to dispute. She has a lot of things to be thankful for Sebastian. Apart from accepting her as his friend no matter what her situation was, he invested time to help her solve her father’s case, even if the whole world seemed to forget their surname. A Venus gaze dawned in her eyes, ogling Sebastian’s face. He caught her gaze, entertained it and he appealed, “What?” “You know what, if you are not my ‘true friend’, then I don’t know what to call you.” Unbeknownst to Agatha, the question was uncomplicated for Sebastian. He didn’t need to review all night just to answer her inquest. “Mine,” a liquid voice resounded like preludes of flute smoothly came out of his lips. She ogled back. “You can call me ‘Mine’. Because I am ‘Yours’,” Sebastian whispered. The soft sun rays struck inside the coffee shop, through the window, and blazing at Sebastian’s face. It made the area around him beautiful, and that light, silly as it can be, seemed to know the perfect timing. It was a small heaven crowned by his presence. Sebastian began to look unfamiliar to Agatha. Mayhap, he was more beautiful than she knew ages ago. About the way he looked at her, it was soothing. He made her imagine this was a dream, and that she might regret waking up. ‘Peep!’ The loud horn of the car from the busy street stole the halo. At last, Agatha came back to reality. This man in front of her was her best friend, nothing more, nothing less. Next thing followed; a cracking of laughter slipped from her lips. “Are you living in ’90s? Dude, that was cheesy,” she laughed. Agatha made a fist and gently hit his shoulder. The second the contact was made, Sebastian looked at the arm she hit. It was for a second, but the electricity of her touch vibrated throughout his body. It was a feeling he learned to keep by himself for many years. His eyes went back to Agatha, swearing that one day he would confess everything. He wished it would come fast. “By the way, the lists you gave me were so informative. Did your uncle provide these?” Like waking up from daydreaming, an imaginary cold water poured down onto his head. Sebastian cleared his throat and sat straight. He didn’t forget to avoid Agatha’s gaze, because once she locked his eyes, she might notice his lies. “Yes. It was my uncle,” Sebastian uttered. Far from the truth, the information provider was Mikhail. “I should thank your Uncle too,” Agatha said before she scrutinized the documents in front of her. “You don’t need to. My Uncle is just doing his job. And…” He stopped talking when he noticed Agatha looking intently at the paper. Her face was as white as blank paper. Screwed on her spot and unable to blink, Agatha was moveless. “Agatha?” “Huh?” Agatha replied, her face was agitated. “Are you fine?” Her quick hands collected the papers, and she placed them inside the envelope. She answered, “Y-Yeah. I am.” Even if she told him she was okay, Sebastian negated whether to believe her or not. What did she see in the document that made her pale? ** Agatha’s POV Among the lists, I saw the Chairman of Grim Corporation. I never met that man, but I knew who he is. ‘Lanceil’s and Vincent’s father.’ The social circle between businessmen was large. It is foolish of me to narrow the investigation, thinking that Mr. Grim could be the main suspect. It is impossible. Alternatively, impossible is not a fact. It is an opinion. “Haa…” I caught my forehead, sighing, and then the door behind me opened. The second I looked back; I saw my boss. Lanceil was wearing his sexy back suit, with white sleeves underneath. Three buttons were opened, displaying masculinity. His brown hair was brushed up, showing his forehead, he was so charismatic. The cold eyes and the formal attire covering the veins on his thick arms, I swear to God he’s my ultimate ideal type. And how awkward it was for me to realize I had been staring at him like a fool who fell into her own grave? Could not spell it, could not bother. It is this smallest moment that causes my heart to fall. He is the ‘quiet’ in my ‘chaos’. But I am the ‘chaos’ in his ‘quiet.’ “What are you doing? You’re blocking the entrance.” “I am sorry.” “Stop spacing out and just go inside.” I stepped back, he walked passed me. My eyes glued on his wide back, and when he stopped walking all of a sudden, my eyes shook, they anticipated something. “Don’t you have anything to ask me?” he uttered. Do I? “If you have anything to say, spill it. I had no time these past few days because of work.” Upon thinking, the field trip came to my mind. What if this is the best time for me to ask that? “Sir, I am really thankful that you allowed me to study in the review center while working here. Really, I was so thankful.” He turned around, sliding one leg backward, and his rearview appeared. His eyes went to the very corner, at the end of his sight, I was standing moveless. “That’s all?” he added as if he knew everything before I could tell it. Grabbing the rare chance given to me, I told him the truth. “I need a recommendation letter from my professor. And to get one, I need to attend an educational field trip.” “How many days?” I was astonished at how he reacted so casually as if this is the most natural thing second to breathing. I reprocessed the answer inside my head, and replied, “Four days.” “If it is four days, there’s nothing to worry about. Just go.” “Is that for real?” “If you ask me one more time, I might change my mind. So, I suggest you not to ask again.” “Thank you so much! I promise to work harder when I come back.” He nodded his head and smiled a bit. “T-Then, I will go and prepare my things. Thanks again, Sir.” “Agatha.” “Yes?” The smile on his lips was no longer to be seen. An abyssal visage settled in his eyes; his gaze was harmless but that was enough to pull the spirit off my chest. “Why, Sir?” I asked, gulping. “Once you come back, there’s something I wanted to tell you. So, enjoy your trip to the fullest. Because enjoying freedom is a bliss.” He turned around and left me deadly curious.
