I woke up in the morning, bothered by the dream. It looked so real to me. Unlike my other dreams, where the settings or location suddenly changed, the succession of that short dream was steady. I wished I had seen the name of the building. But what amazed me more was the snow-covered surroundings. I couldn’t recall that place in the past. I may have been to other countries before because of my job, but I couldn’t imagine myself walking in the snow.
Perhaps, Kim’s love story trailer that Ara revealed had hooked me subconsciously because it appeared in my dream. And what made it funnier was that I became the Jakara in that dream.
And Kim is in love with me? I giggled. Dreams are indeed crazy!
"Good morning, dear!" Zed's voice disrupted my recollection of the dream. The smile on my lips even quickly disappeared. What would Zed think if he sees me smiling to myself?
"Good morning. You always wake up early." I gréeted him while pulling myself out of bed. Zed extended his hand for me to hold while I struggled with my weight.
"I already turned on the heater. Get a quick shower so that you can still have breakfast."
"Okay. Thank you!"
He bent down and planted a kiss on my forehead.
"Always my pleasure."
While changing later into a business dress and a blazer, I remembered my passport.
"Zed, have you seen my passport?" My goodness, how could I forget such important stuff?
"Yes. It's with Miss Trish."
I furrowed my brows. This seemed unusual.
"How come it's with Miss Trish?"
"When you confirmed your job acceptance a month ago, Miss Trish called and asked for your passport so that she could process your travel VISA."
"Without me appearing personally on any office?" I knitted my brows.
"It's a working VISA, so perhaps, Miss Trish can process it herself by using a Special Power of Attorney. "
I didn't remember signing a document authorizing Miss Trish to process my papers.
"Dear, how many times you ask for your glasses when you are actually wearing them?"
I giggled. I was indeed a habitual forgetful.
"Why did Miss Trish ask it from you and not me?"
"I also didn't mind telling you because I thought you knew it. Miss Trish said you're not picking her calls that day. That was the time you were with Mr. Mori on a trip."
"I see."
"I'll go to the kitchen ahead. Hurry a bit."
I sat down before my dresser and picked up a brush. Staring at my face before a mirror, I then started painting my brows with my routine coffee shade liner. Applying a light day cream next and a pressed powder, I topped it with a light crimson blush. Finishing with matte lipstick was all I needed for simple makeup.
I went down to the dining room and saw that Zed already had our breakfast ready on the table. I got guilty. I had never tried to act like a housewife ever since we got married.
"Please help yourself. I will get first your suitcase and your shoes. Will I drive you to the airport, or will Mr. Mori pick you up?"
My goodness, I even forgot to put one of the new shoes that Zed bought for me. I got used to picking a pair from the shoe rack outside every time I went out. And speaking of going to the airport, I got amused at how stupid I was for not asking where I would meet Kim and Trish.
"Just bring me to the airport," I replied, but my eyes were on the toasts Zed prepared for me together with a cup of steaming corn coffee.
Aside from eggs and beef tapa, he always had green salad or veggies for a side dish. Those kinds of food were the ones my sense of smell and taste could accept. And Zed understood it all. Whoever said that the best way to a man's heart is cooking him good food, with us it's the other way around. I then began to wonder why Zed chose to serve me instead of me as the wife. Probably, he was aware of his dysfunction. And doing everything to serve me like a queen was his way of making up for this shortcoming.
"By the way, I met Mr. Mori at the park this morning."
"Mr. Yuki has gone back to Japan already?"
I winced in pain at Kim's masochism. Perhaps he made love to Maezy last night. How could he set his feeling aside, knowing that Maezy's had been unfaithful?
"I have no idea."
"Have you and Kim talked?"
"Not much. I was in a hurry. But he mentioned that you would be leaving early for Japan. So, I thought he'd pick you up."
"Zed, I could never understand Kim and Maezy's situation. How could Kim tolerate Maezy's betrayal? How could he remain silent over the fact that Maezy is still having an affair with the old man? Their lives are too complicated."
Zed walked back to me and hugged me from behind. "Don't stress yourself over someone's private life. I guess Mr.Mori is already figuring that out."
"I'm afraid he would use violence later. What if he would shot them in the head?"
At the mention of the gun, my knees immediately shook. My lips quivered, and my heartbeats suddenly raised. The next moment, goosebumps spread all over my skin, and drops of sweat trickled down my temples. I couldn't understand why I always acted like this every time I saw or imagined a gun. My mind would immediately flash a blasting skull and a person lying in a pool of blood.
"I don't think so. Please, calm down. Mr. Mori isn't that kind of a person. I'm sure he always protects his name, his businesses, and his family. Why waste his life over an unworthy person? And besides, I overheard that Mr. Mori doesn't love her."
I gasped in surprise, and my eyes grew large. "You also know about it? Then why does he marry Maezy?"
"He has reasons."
Zed hugged me tighter and rained kisses on my face. This was his way of calming down my fear. I indeed relaxed after a while because of the assurance that Kim didn't love her. Thus, he wouldn't do a stupid thing to kill her.
While Zed was still hugging me, our doorbell buzzed. Zed walked to the door and looked at the CCTV monitor before he opened the door.
"Mr. Mori, please come in," Zed's voice mentioning my name had me scrambling on my feet.
I hurried to the kitchen and brushed my teeth. I looked at my watch and realized that we only had three hours left before our flight. Traffic jams were always predictable, so it's indeed time to leave. I reapplied my lipstick before coming out to the living room when I heard Zed and Kim talking.
"She's panicking again, so I had to calm her down first."
"Why? What happened?" It was Kim, asking.
"She's afraid that you might shoot Maezy to death. So her imagination of that scene and her mention of a gun triggered her panic attack."
