"I warned you not to go looking for trouble," Pei Yan said. "If it causes you distress later, don’t blame me for not telling you beforehand."
Shen Heyu smiled at him, and the two of them walked into the supermarket together, while Lu Yi consciously pushed a shopping cart over.
"Don’t worry, since I chose this myself, no matter what the consequences are, I won’t have any regrets."
Lu Yi didn’t want to bring up anything related to Pei Yansi anymore, so he changed the subject, "It’s still early, and the vegetables and fruits are still fresh. Let’s head to the produce section and see what you feel like eating."
The two of them looked like a newlywed couple, Lu Yi pushing the cart while Shen Heyu stood beside him choosing vegetables; it was a very harmonious scene. Pei Yansi, standing not far away, involuntarily clenched his fists tightly, as if there was a stone pressing on his chest.
Zhao Jin, seeing this scene, couldn’t help but feel worried. He softly called out to Pei Yansi, "President, the Chen family just called, asking you to come back now."
Pei Yansi gave a cold laugh and finally took his gaze off Shen Heyu before turning to leave.
As he left, Shen Heyu suddenly seemed to have a gut feeling and looked in the direction where Pei Yansi had been standing, but she only saw a crowd of strangers coming and going.
Lu Yi noticed Shen Heyu’s action and asked curiously, "What’s wrong?"
Shen Heyu shook her head blankly; she didn’t want Lu Yi to overthink, so she made up an excuse, "Yuexue told me last night that she wanted cucumber-flavored chips, and I was just looking for where the chips are."
Lu Yi laughed, having seen the expression on Shen Heyu’s face just now, his heart had jumped to his throat, fearing that Pei Yansi had followed them.
"The snack aisle is over there; come with me." Lu Yi knew the supermarket better than Shen Heyu.
Shen Heyu smiled, "You’re like a reliable navigator."
"My existence is to provide convenience for you and Yuexue, naturally I need to handle these minor details well, so you don’t have any worries," Lu Yi, flattered by Shen Heyu, was in a good mood, leading her to choose chips in the snack aisle.
Meanwhile, Pei Yansi left the supermarket without looking back and got into his car home.
On the way, Pei Yansi’s phone rang, and he picked it up irritably, seeing the name Chen Lingmeng flashing on the screen.
He took a deep breath, originally not wanting to answer the call, but eventually, as if possessed, he slid the answer button.

"Yes, she agreed, didn’t you send her the invitation? It should have reached her hands by now, so hurry back," said Chen Lingmeng cheerfully.
Pei Yansi sneered, Shen Heyu really was something for actually agreeing to attend.
The Chen family wasn’t all that easy to deal with either, their unease about Shen Heyu was evident.
They feared a rekindling between the two and thus pressured him into delivering the engagement party invitation to Shen Heyu.
Once the invitation was in hand, they hurried Shen Heyu to leave immediately, worried about him spending too much time with her.
"I have other things to deal with today, you can pick out your dress yourself." Pei Yansi hung up the phone and forcefully threw it onto the seat next to him.
Zhao Jin, sitting in front, felt a lump in his throat and carefully glanced at the rearview mirror.
Pei Yansi’s current expression was as dark as the sky before a violent storm, feeling like it would crack with thunder and lightning at any second.
The phone, tossed aside, had just quieted for two seconds when it suddenly burst into a series of ding-dong tones, signaling a barrage of messages.
Pei Yansi picked up the phone, it was Chen Lingmeng who had just sent him selfies in those fancy dresses.
He quickly skimmed through the photos, then, expressionless, was about to set down the phone when Chen Lingmeng’s call came through again.
"Didn’t I tell you I was busy?" Her calls came less than three minutes apart, and Pei Yansi was already irritated.
Chen Lingmeng’s voice softened a bit as she whispered, "But Brother Yansi, is there anything more important right now than our engagement party? Grandpa says I look great in every dress, and I think so too, so I thought maybe you could help me choose."
Pei Yansi’s expression instantly turned cold; it was still uncertain whether the engagement party would even take place.
Why bother going through all this effort? In the end, it would all be for naught.
"This is your own matter, handle it yourself." Pei Yansi coldly rejected her, utterly disinterested in the pictures of her in those dresses.
His mind, however, drifted to another woman. Shen Heyu had worn a purple dress today, which, if Pei Yansi remembered correctly, must have been a gift from Lu Yi.
She was parading around in that dress Lu Yi had given her, so eagerly.

"Speak." Pei Yansi icily tossed a single word her way.
"Do you think Heyu or I am prettier? It should be me, right? After all, I’ve always taken great care of myself, whereas Shen Heyu has had a child. Having children can really age you." Chen Lingmeng held a mirror, carefully admiring her face.
Pei Yansi scoffed coldly, wondering who had given her such confidence.
"You and her cannot even be compared, plus the daughter she had is mine." Pei Yansi mercilessly cut her off, then hung up the phone and turned it to silent mode.
