Seoul Object Story Chapter 302

The control room stood alone in the midst of the jungle. Inside, the woman frantically pressed the button on the console with trembling hands. As the hydraulic cylinders hissed and the door closed, the sound of Velociraptor claws scratching at the control room door could be heard. If the emergency shutdown had been just one second late, those raptors would have entered the control room in a perilous situation. The woman leaned back in the control room chair, breathing heavily. Now the woman was left alone in this massive steel structure. Her always-kind fiancé and the senior colleague who taught her many things had all been killed by those monsters. Perhaps because there was no one else but her, the control room felt much cooler than before. The woman tried to calm herself, slowly exhaling. “Phew, I can’t die .” She tried hard to describe the situation positively. “It’s okay. Dinosaurs can never break through the Object bulkhead.” Even though all her colleagues were dead, there were fierce dinosaurs outside, and it was the domain of the special-grade Object ‘Green Moon’. “If I hold out here, rescue will surely come.” The woman stood up and looked around the control room. It was packed with computers, monitors, and various equipment. The remaining operational period of the emergency Object generator in the control room was about 3 months. She let out a deep sigh. She had to use her head to survive. She had to find a way to escape this desperate situation. But she was too exhausted now. The woman lay down on the floor and closed her eyes for a moment. She wanted to forget this terrible reality, even if only in her dreams. As she fell into a light sleep, the woman was awakened by a sudden emergency alarm. The woman quickly shook off her drowsiness and checked the monitor in the control room. The CCTV screens showed raptors prowling near the control room. But strangely, some of the CCTV connections were cut off. The woman was startled by what she saw on the CCTV screen. The raptor on the screen looked a bit strange. It was as if its bones and flesh had melted and solidified in a twisted form. Moreover, these twisted raptors were roaming around the control room, biting and destroying the external surveillance cameras. There’s no way mere beasts like raptors could know the function of surveillance cameras! The monitors that brightly lit the control room were gradually plunging into darkness one by one. Although the woman was protected inside the safe bulkhead, her breathing became increasingly rapid, consumed by an inexplicable fear. Eventually, all the surveillance camera screens went dark. It was as if she had suddenly gone blind. The cries of the raptors. The sound of claws mercilessly scratching the outer wall. Though invisible, she could clearly sense the presence of the raptors. At that moment, the ceiling light that dimly illuminated the control room flickered unsteadily. “Don’t tell me the wiring…” Just as the woman was startled and checking the control room console. A red light started flashing on the control room screen. Perhaps the wiring connecting the control room and the generator had been cut, exposed through the cracks in the outer wall that had been twisted and broken by the Green Moon. Darkness descended on the control room as it began using the emergency battery for minimal system maintenance. Along with the darkness came the cold. Darkness, fear, cold. The woman was huddled up, muttering to herself. Rescue will come soon, so it’ll be okay. The outer wall is fine even if an elephant steps on it, so it’ll be okay. She startled every time she heard the sound of scratching on the outer wall, but the woman tried hard to calm herself. How long had she endured like that, huddled against the cold and fear, when suddenly it became quiet as if all the raptors had disappeared. In the deafening silence, only the woman’s breathing echoed. The woman stared blankly at the red flashing monitor in that silence and dozed off. In her hazy sleep, the woman heard the sound of the control room door opening. How much time had passed? Could it be that another survivor had reached the control room? When the woman turned her head to check, she saw a vague silhouette beyond the open control room door. Neither human nor dinosaur, but something. ‘How did it open the iris recognition security door?’ A natural question briefly crossed the woman’s mind, but in the middle of that silhouette, she could faintly see her senior colleague’s head, as if forcibly attached. In the jungle where no trace of the space station could be seen. I was furiously beating down on the detestable meat there. With the Black Reaper Greatsword, twice my height, thud thud. With the strength assistance from the armor made by fusing Black Reapers, thud thud. Perhaps due to my lack of athletic ability, rather than slicing with the sharp blade, I was striking the meat with the broad side of the sword. This isn’t a Tyranno! What I was striking was the first dinosaur I encountered in the jungle. It was a Tyrannosaurus. But sadly, this Tyranno was the kind I disliked. A Tyranno with thick lips, feathers sprouting, and a protruding belly was truly evidence of sin. Perhaps because there was a faint smell of human blood from the Tyranno’s body, the Mini Reapers showed no particular reaction. They just giggled at the sight of the ugly Tyranno. After the Tyranno had been completely reduced to minced meat, I finally relaxed and lay down on the ground. Lying there, I could see the truly blue sky. It really has become a planet. Clearly, it was a space station when viewed from the outside, but as I got closer, the Green Moon that had engulfed the station appeared larger and larger. And the moment the Green Moon looked large enough to swallow the entire station, it transformed into a planet with lush jungles. This is the first time I’ve seen planetary-scale space erosion. As I was lost in various thoughts while looking at the sky, there was a commotion where the Mini Reapers were gathered. And one Golden Reaper came running towards me with quick steps. When I turned to look, I saw a happy-looking Golden Reaper. A tiny dinosaur was biting the Golden Reaper’s face. The sharp teeth of the dinosaur, no bigger than a small lizard, looked fierce, but they were of no use against the physically immune Golden Reaper. It just giggled, saying it had gotten an interesting hat. Other Golden Reapers, envious of the new hat, had quite a number of small dinosaurs caught in their grasp. The small dinosaurs let out pitiful cries, struggling to escape from the Golden Reapers’ grip. And the mini dinosaurs that didn’t bite the Golden Reapers’ heads firmly enough to become hats were all culled. Golden Reapers are merciless towards animals clearly harmful to humans. I don’t know if it’s because I like dinosaurs, but such a thought suddenly crossed my mind. Once all the Golden Reapers had put on their mini dinosaur hats, I got up. I donned the Black Reaper armor, raised the huge greatsword towards the sky, and exuded my will. Extermination of ugly Tyrannos! The Mini Reapers also exuded their will, smiling brightly. Thump thump. Thump thump. And so, the Mini Reapers and I walked towards the dinosaur-filled jungle. The woman spent a warm night in the embrace of the enlarged grotesque creature, Mingming. And holding the now-smaller Mingming in her arms, she slowly wandered through the jungle following Mingming’s guidance. Where on earth is Mingming leading me? It felt like Mingming had a clear destination in mind, but it was a bit frustrating since they couldn’t communicate verbally. Sometimes it felt like Mingming understood words, but the woman shook her head vigorously, trying to push away such thoughts. By the way, is Mingming an Object? Or just an animal? In the woman’s opinion, whether Mingming was an Object or not was quite important. It was the crossroads of whether she could call it Mingming or not. She wanted to call out “Mingming!” aloud right away, but if it was an Object, there was a high chance of big trouble, so she was trying hard to hold back. In fact, just the fact that it emitted a golden light from its eyes made it likely to be an Object. As she wandered around thinking about various things, she came across the completely wrecked control room. Dried blood was caked on the white outer walls, and a faint blood scent lingered in the air. The woman was startled and tried to check what had happened, but Mingming in her arms suddenly grew large and blocked her way. Then, something began to appear in the woman’s eyes, which had been focused on the control room. From the darkness of the deep jungle where no light entered, something grotesquely shaped was slowly revealing itself. Its appearance was as if a dinosaur and a human had been haphazardly combined and kneaded together. The most horrifying thing about that terrible form was its head. Inside the mouth full of sharp teeth, a familiar-looking face was protruding. It was the face of a colleague who worked in the James Space Station control room. “Welcome. It’s been a while.” “Welcome. It’s been a while.” “Welcome. It’s been a while.” That colleague’s voice kept leaking out of that head endlessly.
