Self-Love Chapter 62

Frank's POV If I didn't catch sight of her beautiful brown eyes as she blinked, I would have dismissed it, but instead, my heart froze, my breath hitched, I was afraid to move, breath even, because of the fear that I could wake up and realize it was all a dream or my imagination. It seemed she guessed my turmoil, hence her eyes flew open again, and this time it stayed that way. I saw her lower them from where they were focused, on the ceiling, and then slowly, they found their way to my face. "Oh my GOD, oh GOD." I sighed in gratitude and relief as my body relaxed when the actuality of her being awake hit me. "Oh my GOD, Oh GOD, you are awake, Ana you are awake. Oh GOD, I've missed you," I spoke, in a bid to confirm I was in no way dreaming and buried my face into her shoulder as I gripped her. Her eyes remained on me, those beautiful eyes I missed so much. I think she understood the pain I went through because she showed no signs of a struggle or groans of pain, rather she patted my back in a consoling manner and whispered "It's okay, I'm here, it's okay." "Her voice, her sweet sweet voice," I mumbled to myself and broke down in tears, so happy to hear that beautiful sound again after I had thought I wouldn't. My conscious reminded me she just woke up and this made me pull away hastily, though I held her hand, as I then looked into her eyes. I noticed recognition flash through them before her face turned into a frown. "Do I know you?" She challenged a troubled gaze on me as she retrieved her palms unexpectedly like she'd been burnt. I felt my heart crash into uncountable pieces, as I couldn't breathe, "she doesn't recognize me, she doesn't know me." I repeated in my mind while I struggled to get hold of my sanity. I sensed my soul fall deep, so deep into the dark, that I couldn't do anything, instead, I settled there, and gaped at her in disbelief, as I hoped it was all a joke. When I glimpsed no humor in her eyes, and her brows remained turned down in a grimace, I stood up silently with her vision still on me and internally assembled the remaining senses I had left before I veered to the location of the door, ready to walk out the room and out of her life. I couldn't stay back to endure the grief of having her close but yet so far, it would break me. So I took courage, glanced back to give her a nod, and capture her image in my head as I wasn't coming back this time. I took a step forward, my plan already in motion when I paused as I heard her loud laughter. I whipped around in shock, only to see her try to hold herself from falling off the bed as she continued her laughing fit. "Wait, are you actually laughing?" I consulted, as confusion plus fear overtook my features. "Have you gone insane?" "Oh GOD," She wheezed. "Your face, it was so priceless." I wasn't able to interpret what was happening as I kept silent and concentrated on her while she coughed and wiped a tear off her cheek. "I repeat, have you gone insane?" I doubted, scared that my assumptions were correct. I was about to call the doctor but stopped after she said something that made my body freeze. "Mehn I got you good," She confessed. "How I wish Elvis was here to witness this, he would agree that I could be an actress one day." "Wait, oh shit!" I clamored in shock as I understood what she was implying. "You remember me?" "Of course I do." She snorted and laid back on the bed. "How could I forget you? Plus, I don't only remember you, I remember everything." "Everything?" I asked, my brain and heart trying to process the situation that had just unfolded before my eyes. She nodded in response, after which she widened her arms for an embrace. I didn't hesitate, I hugged her instantly. "Oh GOD you gave me a scare there, I actually died and came back to life." I chuckled as I tightened her body close to mine. "Yeah yeah, now momma needs some food, go get me some." She ordered after we had disentangled from the embrace and reached for the glass of water on the table beside her bed. "Aye aye captain," I saluted before I went to do her bid. ********* Joanna's POV I knew it was Francis the moment my eyes landed on him, I could never forget him, at least not again, once was enough. I drank in his scent as we nuzzled, this time it was real, and not a faraway scent. As we embraced, I snuggled him in equal intensity, frightened to let him go, but when he pulled away I caught the fear in his eyes, and because I was a terrible person I decided to mess with his emotions. The look on his face was so rare that I didn't know the moment I burst out laughing, I laughed so hard that if I wasn't holding myself I would have kissed the floor right there and then. I recalled telling Elvis I could be an actress one day but the dude disagreed. How I wish he was there to witness my acting, I could bet he would hand me an Oscar. I shook my head while a smile lingered on my face and stood up to head to the bathroom. I wobbled a bit on my way there, my legs feeling like jellies as I walked. Francis granted my wishes and went to get me some food, though it'd been an hour since he left and I hadn't been bombarded with questions and hugs, which meant he didn't tell my friends or he hadn't seen them. I sighed in relief the second I felt the cool water from the shower run down my body. I know what you must be thinking, she just woke up and she was having a cold shower, but I needed my body to be fully awake together with my mind, hence the cold shower. As I dried myself, I noticed my simple baggy Miney Mouse black gown. That cloth had saved me many a day when my body felt like wires were running through them due to its free and comfy design. I slipped it on and removed my hair net letting my braids fall. I was surprised they were still intact, thus I didn't know how long I was out for. I ran my hands through them, as I watched myself in the mirror, to see I appeared okay apart from the bags under my eyes. I took note of the fact I'd lost little weight, but despite that, I looked good for someone who woke up from a brain-induced sleep. I stepped out of the bathroom, only to be met by my parents who were looking around in shock. I could tell they were speculating I'd woken up and took to the hills. Giggling at my silly thoughts, I walked over to them and cleared my throat to alert their attention since they were so engrossed in glancing around the room to notice me. "Hello, parents." I grinned.
