CHAPTER TITLE: Your Growing Bump
|| IRIS's POV ||
I smiled lightly as soon as I saw his figure coming out through the door. Xavier looked so different within a day. The tension, worries all were screaming from his feature. He just stood there silently, too scared to come to me.
I tried to lose the air, chuckling lightly,
" Aren't you going to come, Mr.President?"
Xavier came back to his senses after a while. Returning a small smile, he walked over to me slowly and sat down almost silently. He asked in a weak voice, eyeing me from head to toe,
" Are you feeling okay now? Are you hurting anywhere?"
I shook my head with a smile. I felt really glad that I managed to save him on time. Honestly,I never thought that I would be able to survive after taking the shots for him. But watching him again was a miracle for me. I thought that I owed this man too much.
Xavier asked me in a low and hesitant voice, staring at my face intensely,
" Why did you save me?? Why did you become a fool? You could have died..how can you do this to me..."
Tears blurred my eyes this time. Maybe it was a reckless decision to throw myself in front of the bullet but I didn't regret it a bit. It was worth it since I broke his heart into pieces. I still had the pain, buried deep inside my heart whenever I remembered how he looked so broken after finding me and Arthur together.
I replied with a soft sigh, letting my tears roll down from my eyes,
" Because I love you... I have.. always.."
Xavier clutched my hands tightly together, his voice shaking,
" I am sorry! I am sorry for hurting you. I am sorry for not trusting you. I love you, Iris. I don't care who you are or who you were. I love you. I can't live without you."
My heart warmed in happiness after listening to his honest confession. Happy tears began to fall from my eyes but reality struck me hard again. This nation was never going to accept me as their first lady. Even Xavier would face threats from his party. A nation would never accept a woman with criminal backgrounds. Besides, the incident with his father left a great impact on the people's minds.
I mentioned it hesitantly, taking my hands back from his,
" But..Your position.. Xavier..They won't vouch for you if you take me as the first lady."
Xavier looked indifferent by my words. He put one hand on my stomach and said looking deep into my eyes,
" There's nothing more important..than you two..my lady..."

" Are you sure Mr.Gray? Do you really want to resign after two months?"
One of my clients asked me curiously, toasting the glasses. The party was thrown especially in my honor. Yesterday, the election result came out and I was elected as the new president of the USK state again. For the past two months, I worked hard to clear the mess. Without Arthur on my path, it was easy to control everything.
Iris was right. After she was discharged from the hospital a week later, I wanted to resign from everything midway. However she stopped me, telling me that a fighter never leaves his battle midway. She said that I couldn't just abandon my party midway. So, I decided to fight till my end. We won the public's favour again. But my jealous girlfriend had one request. He told me that I should announce Petra's position in my life for real. Right before the election, I encountered a horrible incident. Petra was actually caught with a guy red-handed in a motel. Eventually the media found the news and her reputation was ruined.
With a happy heart, I apologized to the public and ended my so-called engagement with Petra. I did agree to the engagement to make Iris jealous. I hoped that she would just come out to confront me after finding me and Petra together.
" Xavier!!", my father's voice snapped my attention back to reality. He was still opposing my relationship with Iris. Some people in life just never change. He still thought that it was a foolish decision to leave everything just for a woman.
" Dad!", I greeted him back with a smile, his face hardening in rage. With a low snort, he asked in a low voice,
" Have you decided who will be the next president after you? The members are worried."
I still kept it a secret for everyone. If they wanted to see my son as a successor, they need to wait for another twenty years at least. But during that time, I had another name in my mind.
I shook my head with a shrug, taking another sip from my wine,
" Nope!! You will find out soon. The decision is still pending."
Then my dad once again started to speak in a persuasive voice, appearing hopeful,
" In that case...why don't you just continue? What's the point of living a normal life?"
I gave him a long stare and said with a sigh,
" Dad! I really hope that you will value a person more than your status one day. If you still don't know the answer..ask mom..was she ever happy with you?"
He fell silent after my words. Giving me a little hug of comfort, I walked away to go upstairs.

" Welcome, Mr. President."
Iris gave me her brightest smile. She looked stunning in this maroon gown. I picked it up for her personally. Although I didn't make her public, in my heart she was my first lady. I didn't want any eyes on her anymore especially when she was with my child. Her skin was more glowing ever since she got pregnant. My mom and sister almost went crazy after hearing the news.
I gave her a smirk, walked over to plant a kiss on her precious lips. She said that we would celebrate it within this room. I couldn't fucking wait to tear down her dress. She grinned while asking, giving me her fake innocent eyes,
" You came back early? Hmm..I heard that there are also many hot girls down there. Don't you feel excited for the party, celebration?"
I replied with a chuckle, grabbing her by the waist,
" Those things don't excite me anymore."
She pouted her lips cutely, leaning onto my face,
" What excites you then?"
I gave her a sweet smile, eyeing at her outfit closely,
" Your growing bump!"
