Chapter 11: Dowry
When Madam Jiang suddenly came, Yu Niaoniao had no choice but to lie back on the bed and continue pretending to be sick.
Madam Jiang sat down by the bed.
“Niaoniao, I heard that you were sick. I specially came to see you and discuss the dowry with you.”
Yu Niaoniao was all ears. “Go ahead.”
Madam Jiang said softly.
“For families like ours, our daughters’ dowries have been prepared since they were young. But you only returned to the Yu family two months ago. I didn’t even know you existed before that. Hence the failure to prepare your dowry in advance.”
“Moreover, this marriage between you and Duke Lang is too sudden. We really can’t gather so many things in a short time.”
