(Phoenix POV)
Brianna was still be watched and I was waiting for her to make a slight mistake and she’d be caught but this time along with her sponsor and then they’d both be punished for their crimes against me but now, Brianna was the least of my worries.
Finally, I got the permission to travel from Doctor Hailey and it was very pleasant news indeed. Emerald already had people taking turns to watch her starting from Don Luca and Mama Rosa, Olivia and Denzel, Liyah, Debby and lastly my mother and by then we must have returned from our trip overseas.
I looked around and noticed that some of Sterling’s belongings were still not in his suitcase and I groaned in frustration, “Darling, come and arrange your clothes properly. I can’t help you this time and you know it,” this guy! I was the sick one here but here he was, making me limp all over the room stacking clothes into suitcases.
He muffled some words I couldn’t hear from the bathroom and I had to strain my ears to hear him properly, “Say what? I can’t hear you at all,” I limped lightly towards the bathroom door and leaned towards it hear him clearly but suddenly the door opened and when it did, I lost my stance and fell forward and he caught me right on time before my face landed on the tiled bathroom floor.
Blinking my eyes multiple times to wrap my head around the fact that I almost ruined my face, “You were saying?” trying to get up but he wouldn’t let me down, “If you remain in this position, your towel tied around your waist will fall out and we don’t happening now, do we?”
I heard him grunt and noticed his pupils dilate fully and I knew that he was consumed by lust, “You know, now that you mentioned it, it wouldn’t be such a bad idea if we did something real quick; you know what I mean,” he said and winked at me and I felt the heat rising to my face and I tried so hard to stop the blush from coming.
“That will be a very bad idea; you know, my wounds aren’t fully healed and doing such activities would cause a tear in the injury,” I stood straight after much struggles and straightened out my gown.
“Wait, what injury? Did something happen that I didn’t know of?” he had this cute face when he was utterly confused when it came to me and I couldn’t stop myself from laughing.
“Dude, no; you know that I didn’t give birth through the normal process and for women, who give birth through a caesarian section, it takes like a minimum of one year before doing anything intimate but of course, we can still foreplay,” I shrugged and left him standing by the door with his mouth ajar.
He moved swiftly towards where I was trying to fold the clothes and said, “Wait, you mean that we won’t do anything of that sort till a years’ time? Is that what you mean?”
“Yes, now pack up, we have a flight to catch in an hours’ time,”
On our way to the airport, the driver diverted and took a different route from the one and I knew and I had to ask Sterling where we were headed.
“Babe, where are we going to?”
“We’re just taking a different route to my private plane which is now ours,”
“Wait, what? Why didn’t I know that you had a private plane?”
“I don’t like showing off as much as I’d want to,”
“Wow, what else don’t know about?”
“The beach house that overlooks the clear blue ocean and it’s like 4 hours away from civilization and I got it because I needed privacy. There’s a villa I have in South Korea, Canada, France, amongst others; I don’t want to bore you, really,” he giggled at me before squishing my face in his hand.
“Wow, you own lots of properties,”
“Just showing off my wealth and trust me, some of these apartments, I didn’t pay for them with my own money; there are gifts from clients for a job well done,” he shrugged after he said that
“I see,”
I nodded and just watched everything flow like a breeze and before I knew what was happening, we were in the air and I looked forward to seeing Deborah. I was literally bored of watching the clouds in the sky and so I dozed off.
(Sterling’s POV)
I watched her doze off while I was busy reading a magazine. Watching the rhythm of her chest, rising and falling, it drew me in and calmed me in a strange way. The things I did for this woman amazed me sometimes and now I was off to some foreign land because I wanted to please and because she deserved it.
The trip to Nigeria was a long one indeed but thank God it had finally come to an end after almost being on air for 15 hours. The plane landed on a secluded part of the Murtula Mohammed airport tarmac and I stood up from my seat and moved closer to her and tapped her, “Babe, we are here,” I said lightly and she opened her eyes slowly and stared at me shortly like a lost bunny and it was absolutely adorable.
“We are? You let me fall asleep all the way here?” she queried, looking out through her own window to see that we were indeed at one of the countries airport before sighing and getting up, straightening her gown before saying, “Now you made me miss the whole adventure here; I didn’t even take pictures?”
“Are you blaming me right now? I was just being considerate because I knew that when you get here, you and this Deborah person will gist your heart out and you won’t have any time to rest and that is why I let you sleep in,” I said, shrugging and getting moving out, “So you can’t blame me for my kindness, I deserve a reward instead of this and I will collect my reward one way or another.
She stopped in her tracks and just stared at me as though I had developed an extra head and I just winked at her before coming down from the plan and damn, it was hot out here. Our luggages were being rolled behind us as we headed towards the entrance of the airport.
Inside the airport, heading towards the entrance, I realized that some of the citizens had almost the same skin tone as Phoenix although most of them had dark brown eyes but it still didn’t make a difference and they were also as civilized as most countries were. I may enjoy this trip after all and it would be one hell of an adventure in this country.
I watched as Phoenix face lit up in excitement and it lit up more than it ever did whenever she saw the girls and without thinking, she ran to whoever it was and hugged her and held onto her tightly. She clearly didn’t think that run because if she did, she would know that she wasn’t completely healed from the leg injury. I sighed and watched their interaction and then suddenly felt like a third wheel.
“Oh my goodness, Debbie, I have missed you so much!!” Phoenix said releasing her from the hug but not from holding her hands.
This Debbie girl giggled and said, “I have missed you too. A lot happened when I came down here and I couldn’t go back as soon as I wanted so I had to attend college here but I was planning on coming back before Christmas,”
“Oh my gosh, girl, we have a lot to talk about; I am so damn happy to see you. Things weren’t the same without you and you know that it’s true,” Phoenix said, hugging her again before the girl suddenly stopped and looked at Phoenix in a strange way and I wondered what it was from where I was standing.
“Phoenix Mills, what is that I see on your finger?” I could hear Debbie gasping in amazement.
“Girl!! I am getting married soon,” Phoenix said laughing so happily and my heart warmed at the thought that she was excited about getting married to me.
Her friend, looking at the ring was so happy for her, “This is such a beautiful ring and it fits the person putting it on. I know that you don’t like complicated things and this ring just suits your kind of person but who is this man that swopped you off of your feet and finally managed to put a ring on your finger?”
After saying that, Phoenix looked beside her and didn’t see me then she looked behind her and when she saw me, her face lit up again like a kid who was just given candy after being starved of it. she came to me and pulled me over to where Debbie stood, “ Debbie, this is Sterling Tyrell and he is my knight in shining armor,” She blushed after saying that, “Sterling, this Deborah Obasi and she is my forever best friend; you can just say that we are sisters,”
“My oh my, Phoenix, you’ve got yourself a yummy snack over here. Hi, Sterling, I know all about it already. I am one who is very kin in the business world so I know who the big shots are and I am shocked that you got to melt the ice in her heart,” Debbie chuckled which caused Phoenix to do same.
“Well, it wasn’t that easy winning her trust and all that but I can say that the ride has been so worth it,” I said, looking at Debbie squarely.
“Well, Phoenix, we have a lot to catch up on and thank goodness that I get to take a break from work,”
“Oh right, how is the fashion business going?”
“Girl, I am pretty sure that you wear my outfits without even knowing that you are,”
“Really? What is the brand name?”
“Tsk, this child, you really don’t remember?”
“Forgive me but I have forgotten,”
“Dazzle; remember, you came up with the name in high school!”
“Oh my gosh, you took the name? I thought it was a lame ass name,”
“Nothing that comes out of that pretty mouth of yours is lame. Come on; let’s get you guys settled in in one of the best hotels in this part of the country. I heard that you have a week to be here, well then, let me spoil you throughout this week. Phoenix, Sterling, welcome to Lagos, Nigeria,” Debbie said and I was already liking her vibes.
