The familiar voice startled Kade and his head snapped around so fast he almost gave himself whiplash.
And then, watching the girl calmly descend the stairs, his eyes popped out, ’’You... You... What... How?"
Ella was dressed in a pastel green flowy dress, her long hair was combed neatly, cascading in front of her shoulders. Her soft face glowed, thanks to her religious skincare routines and subtle makeup.
Kade rubbed his eyes.
Ella remained calm in the face of such blatantly shameless eyes that scanned her from head to toe endlessly.
Kade sucked in a deep breath, ’’It’s really you?!"
Ella smiled, ’’Who else were you expecting?"
Kade already couldn’t believe his eyes and then, what he saw next hit him like a freight train, rearranging his insides.
Ella walked up to Adrian, leaned down and kissed his cheek,"I thought you already left so I ended up taking too long in getting ready. Did I make you wait?"
The grey clouds around Adrian parted and sunshine poured in.
Kade could almost see a halo around his brother.
And then the girl naturally took a seat next to Adrian.
Kade trembled all over when he felt his brother’s aura soften.
Then, naturally, all the servants moved and started serving the food.
Kade looked at the scene lifelessly.
Only after about 10 minutes, by the time the food was completely served did Kade come back to his senses and he immediately turned to Adrian, ’’Brother, we are in the same class."
"I know,’’ Adrian calmly said, skimming through some particular dishes and piling food carefully on Ella’s plate.
Kade was speechless. Of course, there was nothing his brother didn’t know in this world.
If there was, it was simply something that he did not wish to know.
But the woman in front of him did not seem like one such subject that his brother was uninterested in.
So, of course, he would know everything about her.
"She pretended to not know me all this time!"
Before Adrian could say anything, Ella gave him a passive look, ’’Why would you say that I pretended? And why would you assume that I knew you? Have we met before? Am I supposed to know you?"
Kade’s mouth twitched. That’s right. He had assumed that the Ella in his brother’s mansion and his deskmate Ella were two different people because he had not met them both before.
Even though their surnames matched, their appearances as described to him were also alike, but their personalities were too different.
From what he had heard, the girl his brother liked was gloomy, always depressed, constantly in trouble and dragging others in trouble.
But this deskmate of his? She did not match any of these categories. She was a complete menace, far from being gloomy or gullible.
How was he supposed to connect the dots?
Even though they had the same names, he dismissed it considering that finding someone with those names and surnames was pretty common in V Country.
And one more thing that prevented him from joining the dots was the fact that his brother never let Ella out of the mansion.
After she tried to escape his side countless times before, her movements were restricted by Adrian.
He glared at her smug little face. If smugness were a weapon, she’d be armed to the teeth.
Unable to resist, he bared his fangs again, ’’But... Why were you not shocked when you saw me just now? That obviously means you knew..."
’’How do you know I was not shocked?" Ella frowned, ’’Everyone’s way of expressing their shock is different. Must I look like a cartoon to express my shock?"
"A... cartoon? Did you call me a cartoon?"
’’Did I take your name?" Ella scoffed. If she admitted she knew who Kade was, won’t she be shooting herself in the foot? Kade’s identity was very confidential in the university, with very few people knowing that he was related to the King Family.
She had access to such a confidential piece of information because of her memories from her previous life. How could she let people in on this?
"You...’’ Kade rubbed his chest, ’’Fine, so be it. But are you also going to deny your surgery?"
"Don’t look at me like you are innocent. I saw you in the university yesterday before you disappeared in a rush so you can’t fool me. That appearance of yours was completely different at that time...’’ Kade looked at her with scrutinizing eyes.
Ella clanged her spoon against her plate with a sharp glare, ’’What are you implying?"
’’Who are you trying to scare?" Kade slammed a palm on the dining table and pointed at her, ’’I am implying that you were obviously ugly and fat yesterday. How is such a transformation possible unless you got some procedures done?!"
Ella was seriously triggered.
First Ronan, now Kade...
’’Even if I got some procedures done, was it you, the poor man, who paid for it?"
"Baby, I merely dolled up a little bit. And I did some selfcare today considering I was home after so many tiring days...’’ Ella touched her face, ’’Do you think I look ugly without this?"
Kade turned to glance at his brother expectantly.
No matter how much he favored this woman, he would not really go against his conscience. At worst, he would just stay silent...
’’You are beautiful everyday,’’ Adrian reached out towards Ella and tucked a strand of her hair that was about to touch the plate, his mood pretty flowery after hearing the ’home’ from her mouth.
Ella smiled at him, ’’Baby, you should stop praising me so much. I get shy~"
Ji Yan, who was passing by, carrying some documents to the study, almost tripped.
Adrian piled some more food varieties on Ella’s plate, ’’Eat some more.’’
Ella shot Kade a fleeting cocky look before she resumed eating.
Kade’s handsome face scrunched up a little and the food seemed indigestible.
"I don’t see you acting this coy when you are chasing girls huh! Just how pretentious can you get?"
Silence reigned on the dining table and dark clouds hovered in the living room.
Ji Yan, halfway up the stairs, felt the tension behind him.
Without looking back, he doubled his pace and vanished.
