Jenny froze for a moment, ’’How would I know? You should ask yourself who you have offended that you are being targeted .’’
Ella smiled, ’’I am relieved to know that you also think I am being targeted and I am actually a victim of these rumours.’’
’’Don’t twist my words!" Jenny lowered her gaze, ’’If not for Professor Grimwood, you should have been immediately rusticated from the university but this is good as well.’’
A hint of surprise flickered in Ella’s eyes. She had indeed expected some action from Jenny’s side but seeing her making no move despite this golden opportunity, Ella was confused.
It seemed like Professor Grimwood had interfered in this matter.
But why would he? In their previous life, they barely had any exchanges between them.

Even after Jenny left, Ella was bewildered by those words.

But the girl grabbed her bag and left like a gust of air, disappearing from everyone’s view in an instant.

But then they concluded that she probably ran like that due to her burst of emotions. She must have been scolded to the point of tears by Professor Jenny.

He glanced at the empty seat beside him and then at the empty seat on the first bench.
And while he had no attachments or connection with Ruby, he found her situation rather... pitiful.
He could bet on his frozen cards that his crazy deskmate was undoubtedly chasing after this poor girl.
Ella indeed chased after Ruby who left without attending further classes.
When Ella reached outside the university gates, she had almost lost sight of Ruby.
But then, she spotted a cab near the distant alley. The striking red of Ruby’s hair caught her attention.
She immediately hailed a cab, ’’Follow them.’’
Ruby’s cab stopped in front of a private hospital.
Ella paid the driver and got out of the car.
She had just taken a step towards Ruby when a speeding van zoomed in her vision.
Ella’s heart dropped.
In a lavish yet minimalistic condominium.
A private investigator sat on the couch, ’’Mr. Knight, all the information you provided tracks back to this person. So, I surmise they are the one you are looking for.’’
Ronan glanced at the file that was being offered to him but he did not move to take it immediately, ’’Are you sure?"
’’Yes, you said you saw them at the Imperial University a few days ago. That information matches up with this person as well. She is a student of the Imperial University.’’
Ronan furrowed his brows, a hint of displeasure crossed his eyes.
The investigator shivered, ’’Mr. Knight, once you see the picture, won’t everything be clear?"
Ronan took the file and flipped to the first page.
The picture of a beautiful red-head greeted his vision and his eyes darkened.
’’Are you sure she is a student there?’’
’’You can leave... Wait! Look into her current whereabouts for me. I’d like to meet this person.’’
The investigator fled from the place hurriedly.
Ronan looked at the picture in his hand and almost laughed in anger.
If not for dropping Adrian’s little jinx in the university, then he would never have discovered this truth, would he?
For this, he would need to thank Ella.
He read the name on the file again.

Ruby let out a sneeze.
Rubbing her nose, she looked up at the hospital and then stepped forward.
An arm wrapped around her neck.
She was pulled back by the force.
She swung her hands, trying to shake off the arm wrapped around her neck but the person dragged her.
’’Easy, you idiot! We need her alive!"
’Who...’ Ruby’s head felt faint.
At this moment, Ruby heard a familiar voice.
Suddenly, the grip around Ruby’s neck loosened.
Ella swung her back hard at the hand that was choking Ruby and with her other arm, she pulled Ruby back.
The van was full of a few men covered in black.
And the road had gotten crowded by then.
’’Let’s go,’’ Ella pushed Ruby, snapping her out of her shock.
Their gazes met for a brief moment.
Both of them turned and ran in opposite directions.
As she ran, Ella felt grateful that she had been diligently running these days. Her body was much more flexible than before.
Seeing that Ruby had made it far away, she sighed in relief.
Only one man chased after her while the rest went after Ruby.
She was their target.
Ella increased her pace but suddenly, her foot tripped and she lost her balance.
As she fell, the phone in her hand crashed on the ground, cracking into separate parts.
The big devil had just gotten her this new phone. What if he changed his mind and forbade her from using one in the future?
Ella held her breath and pushed herself up. But with a plop, her body landed on the road again.
’Not now... No!’ Ella cried invisible tears.
The place had gotten chaotic with people running everywhere.
And Ella couldn’t get up. Watching the man getting closer, Ella cursed under her breath.
