Ella immediately moved to sit up but halfway through, her body plopped back on the bed. Her belly jiggled.
She exhaled a loud breath of frustration, turned sideways, propped her body on the elbow and pushed herself up.
Ella opened the door and the face she least wanted to see greeted her vision.
"Sister, it’s really you!" Esther glanced at Ella as if she just saw another wonder of the world, ’’You are back to the university?"
Ella hadn’t even taken half a step back when the girl pushed the door open and welcomed herself in.
’’How come? Did Mr. King finally let go of you?" She turned to Ella and asked as if she was truly happy for her.
Ella did not speak much.
Esther took it as a cue that the previous incident must have severed the relation between Adrian and Ella for good. Maybe Adrian realized that this woman was such a frivolous slut, huh?
’’Sister, don’t worry. I will help you get in touch with Max...’’
’’You shouldn’t. Adrian won’t like it,’’ Ella cut girl off with a wave of her hand, ’’And I told you I am uninterested in second hand shoes,’’ she smiled.
The smile on Esther’s face faded gradually.
For some reason, Ella looked a little different than the last time she saw her. Again.
Was her face glowing? Or did she seem so genuinely happy?
Esther thought that Ella had only spoken those words about Max on a whim. But why did she look so serious about having to do nothing with him?
And... Most importantly... Was it merely her illusion or... ’’Sis, have you lost some weight?"
"I must have,’’ Ella shrugged her shoulders.
Esther thought of how she had gone on a run and a hint of urgency flickered in her eyes, ’’Sis, I will get you some of your favorite food. You look so sickly at this point. I cannot bear to see you at all...’’
Ella patted her head, ’’Only you think about me.’’
Seeing that the way Ella treated her hadn’t changed in the slightest, Esther was inwardly relieved.
However, when Ella continued speaking, Esther’s face changed.
’’But think of me a little less, Essie~ I am on a diet these days after all. All that sugar do me more harm than good.’’
When Esther left Ella’s room, she felt like her hits landed on soft cotton. She did not cry, she did not throw a tantrum and she did not even mention the fight with Adrian!
Ella’s calmness was getting on her nerves. She gritted her teeth and pulled out her phone before she started to type a text to Adrian but then she hit backspace.
Given the kind of man Adrian was, he would never have let Ella come to university.
Since he did it, it only meant one thing. He was losing his interest in her.
At a time , it would be inappropriate for her to bring up Ella in front of Adrian.
A glint flashed across Esther’s eyes. Once Adrian discarded Ella, it would be her turn to push herself forward.
Then, nobody could stop her from becoming Mrs. King.
Thinking of that, she caressed her nightgown, blushed, and rushed back to her room.
In her room, Ella sat on the bed, feeling rather disoriented.
Esther’s arrival did not faze her as much as her nightmare did.
After a while of pondering upon, she forced herself to avert her thoughts.
Her mind drifted off to when Adrian and her parted at the mansion today.
For some reason, she had felt like the way he was looking at her was a little different.
Ella stood up from the bed, horrified!
She told him that the main mansion was far away and it would probably take time for him to be back!
The Main Mansion of the Kings was no small deal. The King family were the true descendants of the Royal Family of Vermilion City. They were the real blue blood and every information was secure and protected.
She wasn’t supposed to know where the main mansion was until a few years later.
’Ahh!’ Ella mentally screamed and tugged at her hair.
After a few good minutes of nervous breakdown, Ella changed the direction of her thoughts forcefully.
She was probably overthinking about this.
She had blabbered so much that there was no way Adrian could keep track of what all she had said.
Or he would not have let it go if he heard it!
With that self-convincing, she went to bed again.
But even half a day later, she couldn’t fall asleep.
Eventually, Ella got up.
Her gaze landed on the textbooks that she freshly arranged on the desk.
Since she could not sleep, Ella decided to go through some of the course materials.
With the impending exams and sword of disqualification hanging over her head, she would have to make some preparations to fall back on.
However, Ella could never have known how soon her preparations would come in handy.
The next day. The entire hallway erupted in mindless chatter when a rare person showed her face there.
Ella had to admit that she felt like a popular bee even though the gazes she received were rather hateful and the discussions about her were all filled with criticism.
’’Ah, she is back? Isn’t she some old man’s mistress?"
"I heard she was abandoned by her family and then ruthlessly kicked out because of her dark past...’’
