Not knowing that Ella was also kidnapped along with Ruby, Esther assumed that Adrian got news of Ruby’s disappearance. And he doubted Ella for it, thinking that she did it because she was still chasing Max.
By sending Max over to the Eve Mansion, Esther wanted to hit the nail on the coffin.
She wanted to remove any existing doubts in Adrian. And confirm it that Ella indeed orchestrated this whole thing to get close to Max.

As Ella spoke, she had already pulled out her phone but before she could unlock it, Esther grabbed her hand.

Esther could not understand. She had ensured that she would not get dragged into this. Max should not have brought her up in this affair at all then how did Ella know that she went to him?
Nothing made sense. But if Ella really reached out to Max and he revealed everything she had said then it would humiliate her even more.
Just as Ella typed some numbers on the keypad, Esther’s eyes darted around and she abruptly reached out towards Ella’s phone, ’’Sis, no! Don’t call him! He didn’t lie."
There was pin drop silence in the place.
Even the two girls standing behind him looked at Esther with a little shock.
Ella gasped, ’’Essie, why did you lie to me?’’
"Sis, I was indeed worried about you so I reached out to him and asked him to look for you. I never thought things would escalate to this!" Esther looked at her with genuine affection, ’’I lied because I got scared when I saw you being angry about it."
Suddenly, Esther was grabbed by her elbow and twirled.
Esther’s grip on Ella loosened.
Esther staggered a few steps by the impact of slap that came out of nowhere.
The slap echoed. A beat passed. Then two. No one breathed.
