There was surprise on the old man’s face as he looked at Drake.
"It also seems you have a talented son."
Kaidros’s eyes were already cold as he unconsciously released his sword aura when he heard the old man referring to Drake. Before, he was like a calm sword who had no aura of a sword, but now he was like a raging sword.
Then his raging sword aura calmed down as he still looked at the old man coldly. It was Drake who told Kaidros to calm down—if the old man wanted to harm or kill them, he would have done so already. So there was no reason to create a grudge between both parties.
"It seems you are aware," the old man chuckled. His voice sounded cold.
Kaidros looked at the Dragon Scale. He seemed to be in thought, but in reality, Drake was busy discussing with him what to say. He planned on giving the old man the Peak Superior Stone, but they had to find a way to give it without causing any repercussions or arousing the old man’s greed and killing intent toward them.
After Kaidros seemed to have finished thinking, he said, "I have no treasure worth it," then wore a look of regret with eyes filled with pain before they turned determined.
"I don’t know what this is, but it feels like it has unlimited Originat," Kaidros said with a pained expression, as if a piece of his heart had been cut off. Drake was watching the old man’s expression while behaving like an innocent boy.
When the old man heard Kaidros’s words and saw his expression, he felt intrigued. He looked at Kaidros’s hands, only to be hit by a wave of surprise when he sensed the aura. What he saw was a white oval stone—it wasn’t that big.
The old man seemed unable to believe it. He stretched his hand forward, wanting to touch it. As his hand approached the stone, he suddenly saw it disappear from his sight. Kaidros was now looking at it as if it were his dear lover, and the old man was the one trying to separate them.
The old man, seeing this, grew frustrated as black lines appeared on his face. As for Drake, he was already smiling at the sight. Kaidros executed the plan perfectly—Drake would rate him an A for his performance. As for himself, being the creator and director of the plan, he would rate a perfect S.
"Young man, are you planning to trade this or not?" One could hear the frustration in the old man’s voice.
When Kaidros heard this, he seemed startled and stretched the stone forward toward the old man. The old man heaved a sigh of relief, which Drake held in.
As the old man held the stone and tried to collect it, he was shocked to find that Kaidros’s hands were still gripping the stone tightly. The old man was stunned, looking at Kaidros, whose eyes were getting watery.
The old man felt even more frustrated. He didn’t dare let go of it and began dragging it with Kaidros, unwilling to leave the stone behind. And so, the tug of war began between the old man and Kaidros.
As this continued, the old man suddenly dragged the white stone out of Kaidros’s hands since Kaidros had been using one hand, unlike the old man who used both.
"I thought you were a swordsman. How could you make such an expression?"
When the old man held it, he held it like a treasure. The stone was looking milky; his eyes began sparkling.
"So it’s real," the old man muttered.
He turned to Kaidros. "Where did you find it?" Thankfully, Drake had prepared for this.
"I saw it in a beast cave. I could feel Originat was abundant there. I think it was around the center of the middle region of the Bestial Forest," Kaidros said.
When the old man heard this, he scrutinized Kaidros before sighing. "It seems you have a lot of luck to encounter this in the Bestial Forest."
"Here’s your dragon scale," the old man said, immediately pocketing the milky white stone and giving Kaidros the treasure.
"Because what you gave me is worth more than the dragon scale, you can pick one more treasure," the old man said, while Drake felt delighted by this.
Without wasting much time, he began to appraise the treasures. He could see many items that invoked his greed, but because of the old man, he didn’t dare move recklessly. Drake even saw a phoenix feather in the old man’s collection.
But even with all that, he settled on one thing—a sword. He could see the sword was perfect, not too thin nor too fat. He could feel the vast aura it had, even though it looked rusty and damaged.
"Kaidros, do you sword?" Drake asked when he noticed Kaidros’s eyes had never left the sword. Subconsciously, he nodded, which made Drake a bit scared but heaved a sigh of relief when he saw the old man’s gaze fixed on the Peak Superior Stone, even though it was only half-filled.
"Then we are picking this sword," Drake said. When Kaidros heard this, he looked at Drake in shock before gazing at him with gratefulness.
"I’m picking this sword," Kaidros said.
When the old man heard this, he nodded. "It seems you are quite sharp yourself."
"This sword is called Duskrender," the old man said, giving Kaidros the sword. Immediately, Kaidros kept the sword without unsheathing it as they left the place.
As they left, the old man looked at them. Suddenly, he began to mutter something before he spat out a mouthful of blood.
"Their fate can’t be viewed."
Drake and Kaidros didn’t know their line of fate had been checked.
"Master, that was a good plan," Kaidros said as they walked away.
"Hmph. Don’t you know where I come from?" Drake said arrogantly with puffed cheeks. "This is like child’s play where I come from. If not for the fact that the old man is strong, some might have scammed him peacefully."
"Oh, but Master, what’s the meaning of scam?"
