Before the fight began, Naruto finally spoke, a carefree smile on his face.
"I warn you, you'd better get that mutt out of here. I don't want to crush him by accident."
Kiba frowned as Akamaru barked furiously.
"Idiot. Akamaru will fight me. You're so weak that, even alone, he could defeat you," Kiba mocked, puffing out his chest with pride.
Naruto shook his head in amusement, unable to believe what he had just heard. He looked down at Akamaru and laughed out loud.
"Are we talking about the same mutt? He's almost as small as a chihuahua..."
"A CHIHUAHUA, you say?! Don't insult my majestic Akamaru!" Kiba shouted, visibly offended.
Naruto glanced down at Akamaru, who growled just as angrily as his owner.
"You just need the purse to carry him and you'd look like a mediocre Hollywood star," he remarked.
Although Kiba didn't quite understand the reference, the tone alone was enough to set him off in a rage.
With a glance at Hayate, Kiba practically begged him to start the fight already.
"Akamaru, stay out of this," Kiba growled. "I'll defeat him on my own."
Akamaru, reluctant, took a step back.
However, Kiba's heart shattered into a thousand pieces when he heard Hinata's sweet voice from the stands:
"Naruto, don't be too hard on Kiba-kun! Hang in there!"
Embarrassed by the attention she was drawing from everyone in the stands, Hinata hid behind Kurenai.
"Aren't you cheering for the wrong person, Hinata?" Kurenai asked, smiling playfully.
"N-Naruto is m-my boyfriend," Hinata confessed, hiding even further.
Kurenai blinked in surprise, then looked at Kiba, instantly understanding his resentment towards Naruto.
"Aren't you a bit young to have a boyfriend, Hinata?"
"N-no. My father married my mother at 15. I-I'm 14, Kurenai-sensei."
Kurenai sighed in resignation. At 27 years old, she hadn't even been on a date.
She also had no experience with men!
Out of the corner of her eye, her gaze met Asuma's, and she blushed slightly.
"Kurenai-sensei, are you okay?"
"N-no, it's nothing... Let's watch the fight..."
Hinata nodded and refocused her attention on the arena just as Hayate signaled the start.
"I'll crush you in three hits. No. Four. One for making me angry, and three for insulting Akamaru," Kiba roared.
Naruto simply yawned, bringing a hand to his mouth, and lazily gestured for him to come closer.
"Ninja Art: Beast Imitation Technique: Four-Leggs Technique!"
Kiba's body was enveloped in chakra. His nails grew into claws, his canine teeth sharpened, and his posture became wild.
Naruto laughed at the sight of Kiba on all fours.
"Are you going to give me your paw if I ask? I didn't know the Inuzuka Clan specialized in breeding chihuahuas."
Kiba, completely losing it, growled and charged straight at Naruto.
With a small sidestep, Naruto effortlessly dodged his strike.
"Is that what you call an attack? Maybe you should go back to the Ninja Academy and learn a thing or two."
Kiba didn't give up. He jumped and spun in the air, attempting to catch Naruto off guard. Naruto simply took a step back, letting Kiba land awkwardly in front of him.
"Was that a new trick? 'Chihuahua's Flight'? I'm impressed."
Each of Naruto's words pierced Kiba's pride like a needle.
Desperate, Kiba lunged a third time.
This time, Naruto vanished from his sight, and in the blink of an eye, his leg slammed into Kiba's stomach with overwhelming force.
Kiba was sent flying, crashing into the arena wall violently. He spat blood before falling to the ground.
Akamaru immediately ran to his side, whining with concern.
Naruto crossed his arms, looking bored.
"And that was the one who said he could beat me in three hits?"
Kiba, humiliated, growled and slammed his fist into the ground, struggling to get back up.
Swallowing his pride, he called his companion.
The two launched themselves at Naruto, trying to coordinate a combined attack.
Naruto, without even blinking, drew his tantō.
"Body Flicker Technique."
Without the need for seals, Naruto disappeared. Immediately, the field was filled with dozens of his residual images, surrounding Kiba and Akamaru.
"What the hell is this?!" Kiba screamed, completely lost.
He attacked one of the images, only to pass through it with no result.
He couldn't distinguish the real Naruto.
Suddenly, a kick struck him in the cheek, sending him rolling across the ground. When he tried to get up, a slash cut across his arm, causing him to groan in pain.
Akamaru tried to defend him, but was easily repelled by another residual image of Naruto.
Kiba tried to coordinate a counterattack, but no matter how much he moved, Naruto kept attacking from all angles, never giving him a break.
A kick to the ribs, a cut to the leg, a blow to the face... None of the attacks were fatal, but all were annoying and painful.
As he fell to his knees, bleeding and gasping for air, he heard dozens of Naruto's voices whispering around him:
"Three hits, you said?"
"Maybe you'll need a hundred tries."
"Or do you want me to call the kennel to pick you up?"
"Hey, I think this dog has rabies...!"
Kiba, furious but powerless, slammed the ground.
He couldn't do anything.
Akamaru, also injured, tried to position himself in front of him, but Naruto didn't attack him: he simply ignored him, as if he weren't worth his attention.
[Shisui Uchiha: Looks like Naruto is using my Residual Image Technique... I was waiting to see when he'd do that.]
[Madara Uchiha: Hmph. An interesting technique. Though, against my Sharingan, it would be completely useless.]
Shisui, who had planned to thank the "compliment," chose to remain silent after hearing the last part.
[Tobirama Senju: As the creator of the Shadow Clone Jutsu, I must admit your technique is on par, Shisui.]
[Shisui Uchiha: I appreciate your words, Second Hokage.]
[Hashirama Senju: What's so impressive about it? That silly kid could destroy all those pictures! Is it that hard?!]
[Mito Uzumaki: Husband, you're in no position to call anyone foolish.]
[Hashirama Senju: Hey! This is starting to feel like harassment...]
[Madara Uchiha: Hold back, Hashi. You deserve it.]
[Tobirama Senju: Not everyone can crush mountains like you, brother.]
In the arena, Naruto dismissed all the images with a sigh.
Only the real Naruto remained there, standing in front of Kiba, casually spinning his tantō between his fingers.
"Do you want to keep trying, or would you rather I give you a ball to chew on?"
Kiba, shaking with rage and embarrassment, could only grit his teeth as Akamaru leaned against him, whimpering.
