The man's words rang like thunderclaps but no one said anything. The guild members simply stared at him. Even Alex and Shen Yue did not react. The man was pleased with this reaction. He lifted his nose a little, his chest jutted out proudly.
Liam's eyes flickered with an icy calm as he stood motionless, the knife pressing against his neck. He was calmly processing the two souls. They still required a lot of concentration and he did not want to fuck it up.
The man sneered. "Don't even think I will hesitate to end this idiot. Spit it out now. Can't you hear me? This little bitch here will die. Who is your leader? Ask him to step out and then we can talk."
The man unleashed a dao field which made Liam frown. This disturbance was not helping him in soul forging.
The snobby man barely had time to react before he was flung through the air like a ragdoll, crashing into the ground with a force that left a crater.
Alex clicked her tongue as she shook her head with a smile. "Idiot." Mei Mei giggled. The others silently watched as dust and debris rose in the wake of the impact.
Liam turned to face the second man, his expression devoid of emotion, but his aura crackled with suppressed power. "I don't care whose 'Highness' you serve," he said, his voice low and deadly. "But if you think you can threaten me or my people without consequences, you're sorely mistaken."
The second man hesitated, his bravado wavering under Liam's gaze. "Y-you dare to defy us? Do you know who we are?"
Liam tilted his head, his tone mocking. "No. And I don't care." He took a step forward, and the man instinctively stepped back, his confidence crumbling. "I've been polite so far, but if you force my hand, you'll regret it."
The man's face turned red with indignation, but before he could respond, the first one struggled to his feet, groaning in pain. His once-gaudy clothes were torn, and his face was a mix of rage and humiliation. "You… You'll pay for this insult! Our Highness will hear of it, and you'll—"
"Enough," Liam interrupted, his voice cutting through the man's bluster like a blade. "Take your empty threats and leave. I won't repeat myself."
The two men exchanged nervous glances, their arrogance faltering in the face of Liam's unshakable confidence. After a tense moment, the second man grabbed his injured companion. "This isn't over," he hissed, glaring at Liam. "You'll regret crossing us."
Liam sighed. "Now… why did you have to go and say that? I gave you many chances to simply leave." The next second, before either one could react, Liam was already in front of them.
A ripple of energy blasted from him but within a fraction of a second it disappeared. Two corpses dropped from the sky. They were quietly put away just like the elephant corpsed before they hit the ground.
Liam closed his eyes to process the second set of souls. The previous ones were also only partially forged. "Let's move." he commanded the guild as he started heading inwards while processing the souls one by one.
Soon, another beast stood in their path. This time a serpent. Its scaled body glimmered with an iridescent sheen, and its golden eyes glowed with a predatory intelligence.
Coils large enough to crush trees in an instant slithered forward, the serpent raising its head to tower over the group. It hissed, the sound reverberating like a low, rumbling thunder.
The guild members tensed, but Liam didn't slow his stride. He raised a hand, signaling them to stay back, and his other hand ignited with a swirling mix of nether and elemental energy.
The serpent lunged, its fangs glinting like swords, but Liam sidestepped effortlessly, his movements precise and fluid. In one swift motion, he unleashed a barrage of attacks.
Tendrils of nether energy lashed out, wrapping around the serpent's body and pinning it in place. At the same time, a surge of icy wind engulfed the creature, freezing its movements and spreading a layer of frost across its shimmering scales.
The serpent thrashed violently, shattering the ice, but Liam was already above it, delivering a devastating blow that crushed its skull and sent shockwaves rippling through the ground. It was taken care of quickly just like the elephants.
The beast's massive body collapsed, lifeless, as Liam extracted its soul with the same efficiency he had shown before. He didn't linger, his focus unwavering as he continued processing the growing collection of powerful souls.
The guild continued witnessing awe-inspiring battles one after the other. They watched Liam closely, analyzing his techniques and the manz paths of dao he walked.
They couldnät fathom how a single person could comprehend so manz of the truths of the world but then again their guild leader had always been the exception, not the norm. Even those who had doubted their own potential felt a spark of inspiration.
By the time they stopped, the forest was littered with the remnants of their journey—scars in the earth from battles fought and won. Liam stood a short distance away, his eyes closed as he finished forging another soul.
"Our time here is over. Good luck for everyone. I hope we can get the victory in this treasure hunt. Don't take my lack of participation as a sign that this event is not important. It is very important and I am choosing to place my trust on you. Do not let me down."
The guild members silently nodded, their resolve hardening under the pressure of the expectations. Alex stepped forward, her voice steady. "You won't regret it, Liam. We'll make sure the guild rises to the challenge."
Everyone knew the treasure hunt ahead would be grueling, but losing was not an option. Now, it was their turn to take the load and protect their world. The group headed back to the teleportation circles to end the training for the treasure hunt.
