With all of the anger, with all of the emotions that came with what just happened, the betrayal with the assassination attempt, everybody moved out on their own to handle what needs to be handled... in short, they were out to kill.
But with it came the biggest questions that even Hector himself or Ramirez didn’t know that much... how are they going to find those who have snitched?
To be true there was already an answer to it, one that is more than terrifying... it works with fear, works with the realization that even if you had done nothing, you are in the hand of a maniac killer.
To find a snitch, a rat, a cockroach you need to start from the lower level, you need to confront people who are close to the core of the family but don’t really possess much threat in a way... and those people are the people who saw them every day, who saw James, who saw Hector and everybody else who ranked higher.
The housekeeper, the cooks, the cleaners, the garden workers, the guards... but more important, those who are in the house and could overhear conversation, could overhear some sensitive information... those people who are currently still downstairs...
Chris, Alda and Amelia and five more housekeepers who were in the house all day, every time, witnessed things that they might have used as a weapon against them... those people who didn’t even know the reality of what had just happened... the reality that Albert was already dead by the hand of Darvik’s men, Albert, one of the cooks who James actually trusted, who he had a good talk with... the same man that witnessed the slap.
Yeah, they didn’t know that he was already shot dead multiple times... to be true he was shot more than 40 times just to be sure he truly dies by Darvik’s men... and that photo was sent by Mike to Hector too... and he was ready to ask some questions as he finally went down with Ramirez to the living room when everybody was gathered... and they immediately knew something was up and it was not just by the sheer amount of security at the house, the blocked gates, the fully equipped people, but by Hector and Ramirez.
Both of them as soon as they came down the stairs and stepped into the living room... just radiated that something was up... that something terrible has happened, because they have never seen them like that... those eyes of theirs exactly looked like people who wanted revenge, people who wanted bloodied hands.
They immediately got scared... the whole behavior of Hector, his slow breathing, his piercing eyes just looking at everybody, with that face that just looked exactly like somebody who just wants to explode with all the rage inside of him, those bloodshot eyes too and that slightly shaking left hand... they had never seen him ... that Hector Bellini shaking with this much rage and hate inside of him. And on the other side, Ramirez himself... he looked rather... collected. He didn’t look that stressed out, he looked rather bored like all the time, not even a single emotion could be seen on his face... but his eyes were a different story. Calculated ones, that were like a beast looking for the prey, looking at all of them like if he wanted to see something, live, if he wanted to know something about them.
"I’m going to ask a simple question." Hector said with his voice low but looking the exact way at everybody like Ramirez. "So please answer the truth and only the truth, okay?" He smiled a bit but with it he just made everybody tense up even more.
That maniac smile on his face immediately told everybody that something not just was up... but fucked, truly fucked, but everybody just nodded their head and nothing more... they knew not to say anything or interrupt.
"So the cook Albert..." His smile faded. "If you are friends with him just raise your hand, okay?"
Nobody, not even a single soul in the room, raised their hands... they didn’t even have the will to look into Hector eyes as he asked the question... no, there was actually one who still held eye contact with him.
"Is he... in trouble?" She asked with actual power behind her voice and with the same tone that she spoke with James... the same voice she used when she slapped him.
"Trouble?" The smile appeared on Hector’s face again. "No, no... he is not in trouble, why would you even ask that question?"
"Because... he didn’t come in for his shift." She answered back, still collected with just a tiny bit of stutter and hesitation in her voice, though she knew.
Of course she knew that something had happened to him, like why would even Hector ask about him? About a fucking cook? Why would he ask about him when the whole house is under lockdown?
And moreover... Albert, who was never late once... just skipped his whole shift.
"The family is built on trust, isn’t it?" Hector asked as he kept looking at her. "And that trust needs to be tight, so everything can work smoothly... and now I’m asking for that trust. Those who trust Albert need to answer, because he’s not in trouble but has a problem, that we need to solve quickly." He then looked at everyone. "So when I ask who is friends with him, all of you need to answer. You don’t have a choice, you are obligated to answer, because this is a family built on trust... so if you have enough trust, just answer and everything will be fine."
Absurd. Only one word could describe the way he said it, the way he changed to this warm voice to try and comfort the people into raising their hands... total absurdity... but with it he got exactly what he wanted.
To see these people doubt him, to see these people hold back the truth, the people who took an oath for the family... to see those who are friends with Albert not raise their hands, because it was just too visible who those people were... those little body movements, the shaking, the short breaths.
He knew exactly, by looking, who those people were, but he wanted to see it, that they raise their hands up.
He wanted that satisfaction that they would go into their death on their own.
And to his surprise... it worked. At least one of the women raised her hand slowly, but she did it... raised her hand while looking up, shaking like fuck, but did it.
