"Coach, I'll go," Takahashi said, nodding to his coach.
Coach Kiichi crossed his arms, his expression serious. "Be careful!"
Takahashi was this year's Rookie Champion, seen as Sosuke's successor.
His ace Pokémon also had the Sand Stream ability.
Gigalith, its body made of stacked boulders, had a crimson crystal on its forehead.
As Gigalith roared, a wave of sand surged once again.
Though Sand Stream barely managed to suppress the rain, Natsume seized the timing and shouted, "Water Pulse!"
A waterfall-like torrent poured down from the sky, deafening and disorienting Gigalith.
Squirtle took advantage, lunging forward with an Aqua Tail that sent rocks flying everywhere!
"Is Squirtle about to crush Gigalith?!"
"Wheel battle or not, Squirtle's HP must be running low, right?"
"Don't forget, Natsume-sensei still has another Pokémon waiting!"
Takahashi's other Pokémon was Skarmory, its sharp wings gleaming with a cold light.
A deadly Air Slash struck Squirtle, but it only left a faint white mark.
"Squirtle!!" Squirtle looked slightly panicked.
The commentator shouted, "Air Slash seems to have dealt significant damage to Squirtle!"
Natsume's expression turned odd.
"Significant damage"? That was clearly a critical hit!
Squirtle's eyes gleamed with caution as Torrent activated once again.
A Water Gun blasted Skarmory into the barrier, followed by a Water Pulse…
Meanwhile, the viewers in the arena looked as if they'd seen a ghost.
Using an unevolved Squirtle to sweep through two of Kyoto's members…
This was outright humiliation!
On the guest panel, Kenji's expression turned serious.
This Squirtle reminded him of a not-so-pleasant memory involving Hiroshi's Clawitzer!
Natsume looked at Squirtle, deep in thought.
Keeping Torrent active for so long was a heavy burden for Squirtle.
It was time to let Sylveon stretch its legs!
Kyoto's third member was Mizuki, her hair tied in a bun.
Taking a deep breath, Mizuki bowed. "Natsume-sensei, please guide me!"
Natsume nodded slightly, recalling Squirtle.
He tossed a Poké Ball, which bounced back into his hand.
On the field stood a pristine, elegant Sylveon!
"This Sylveon is so cute!"
"Wait, Natsume-sensei actually has a Sylveon?!"
Amidst the gasps, Sylveon lifted its head proudly, exuding elegance.
A hint of envy flashed in Mizuki's eyes.
Scizor, forged of steel, had a matte red armor and menacing pincers.
But Sylveon was faster.
A flash of white light.
Quick Attack had already left a nasty gash on Scizor's abdomen!
Kyoto's Coach Kiichi looked horrified.
What kind of speed was this?
Mizuki, after all, came from a Bug-type gym, known for her talent and reflexes.
But in that brief exchange, she didn't even have a chance to issue a command?
Mizuki opened her mouth nervously. "Scizor, Bullet Punch!"
Bullet Punch, as the name suggested, was too fast to dodge.
But Sylveon bared its teeth, its body glowing white as it charged straight at Scizor!
"Is this… an in-your-face Sylveon?" Akira on the guest panel was stunned.
"That power…" Shiori narrowed her eyes. "It's the Pixilate ability!"
Sylveon's snow-white fur shimmered with a crystalline glow, stunningly beautiful.
Despite its cute appearance, Sylveon charged like a tank, the sound of wind breaking around it.
"Sylveon, Double-Edge!"
Sylveon struck first, the impact sending Scizor flying.
"Is this really not a Flareon?!"
Mizuki's eye twitched.
For a moment, she thought she saw a Rhyperior charging at her.
Was this really the kind of performance a cute Pokémon like Sylveon could deliver?!
Scizor crashed into the protective barrier with a loud crack.
Everyone in the arena wore a complicated expression.
They thought… Kyoto's strategy would catch them off guard.
But why had the tables turned so quickly?
And it seemed like Natsume-sensei was planning to sweep the entire team?!
After swiftly dealing with Mizuki's other Pokémon.
Natsume smiled calmly. "Next."
Supporters from both sides erupted in shock.
Natsume-sensei… was just too much!
On the guest panel, Hiroshi glanced at Kenji and teased, "What were you saying earlier? Just sweep in the individual event?"
Kenji's face turned red, and he snorted, refusing to respond.
Tokyo Metropolitan University's supporters were already cheering wildly.
"Natsume-sensei, go get them!!"
On the scoreboard, the tally was now 3:1.
Kyoto's contestant bench was in disarray, the remaining two members exchanging uneasy glances.
Sayuri had already witnessed Natsume-sensei's terrifying strength during the Public Challenge Tournament.
Now, this imposing Sylveon cast a shadow over everyone.
Sayuri took a deep breath, tied up her ponytail, and stepped onto the battlefield.
"Please guide me, Natsume-sensei," Sayuri said nervously.
Natsume nodded, thinking to himself.
This seems to be the second fan from Kyoto…
Turning the finals into a fan tournament… that's just so like me!
Sayuri took out a Great Ball, coughed lightly, and suddenly blushed.
"There's one more thing, Natsume-sensei…"
"If I win this match… could you go on a date with me?"
Sylveon bared its teeth, its ribbons standing on end, flames flickering in its eyes.
"Is Natsume-sensei trash-talking?"
"Look at how red that girl's face is!"
"That's so dirty! This must be part of Natsume-sensei's strategy!"
"No problem," Natsume said with a light cough. "But I won't lose."
Encouraged, Sayuri's fighting spirit soared.
Her cautious demeanor returned as she sent out Gliscor.
Natsume glanced at his Pokédex and clicked his tongue.
As expected of a long-time fan.
The Poison Heal strategy, even the moveset, matched the recommendations from his videos.
Before Natsume could issue a command, Sylveon lunged forward like a Quick Attack.
To Natsume's surprise, Sylveon's ribbons sliced through the faint green barrier!
The commentator gasped. "Only when there's a massive strength gap can a move break through Protect like that!"
In mid-air, Sylveon glowed white, resembling a blazing orb.
It was the move 'Return'!
At full friendship, combined with Pixilate, its power reached staggering levels.
Gliscor was slammed into the stands, instantly knocked out.
The arena fell silent.
"Is… is he about to sweep four in a row?"
"Natsume-sensei… is just toying with them!"
Natsume-sensei looked at the dejected Sayuri and nodded slightly.
Then, he turned to the camera, flashing a radiant smile.
Kyoto's supporters collectively gulped.
This was the smile of a demon!
And his soft tone, like the whisper of a demon, echoed through the arena.
