Pokemon: The Gameboy Effect Chapter 169

(A/N: The image is John's current oufit do you like it?) [Defeat Gengar LV64, Tyranitar gains experience 7335 XP] [Defeated Morty, the owner of the the Ecruteak Gym, and won a prize of 40,000 Pokedollars] [Morty: It seems that my Ghost eye is not yet perfected. Maybe you are the trainer who can bring it to it's limits...] [Morty: This is the proof of defeating the Ecruteak Gym, the Fog Badge. After owning it, your Surf move will get stronger.] [Morty: This is my research on the Shadow Ball TM and my personal Breeder's experience with Ghost Pokemon, as well as my secret book for practicing Ghost eyes. I hope it provides some help to you.] [Morty: But remenber that I haven't unleashed my full strength yet, and that the power of my Ghost eyes has not yet reached its limit. Wait for it—at the Pokemon tournament, I will definitely catch a legendary Pokemon and dominate the scene!] John glanced at Morty's dramatic lines, unimpressed by his overly theatrical demeanor. In the Pokemon world, melodrama seemed to be the norm. John's gaze focused on three things: the Fog Badge, the skill TM, and the book on Ghost eyes. He picked up the Fog Badge and inspected it closely. [Fog Badge: The power of all Ghost-type moves on the team is increased by 10%, and the secret move Surf is futher enhance.] The badge's effects were intriguing but not overly groundbreaking. After all, the Hoenn Region didn't have a Ghost-type gym, so this was John's first time obtaining a Ghost-type enhancement. However, what caught his attention was the Fog Badge's ability to enhance his Surf move. He opened his Pokemon interface to check Greninja's current Surf move. [Secret Surf: Power 130, while keeping the target in a Whirlpool. (Triggering additional effects requires the Pokemon to master Whirlpool first.)] "Only a 10-point increase in power..." John muttered, comparing the move's stats before and after the enhancement. Still, this was good news. John had speculated that badges obtained outside the Hoen Region could transform ordinary moves into secret techniques. Would badges from other regions merely increase move power, or could they also enhance secrets? This revelation suggested that other regional badges could also boost secrets. 'Don't underestimate a 10-point power increase,' John thought to himself. 'How many regions are there in the Pokemon world? Surf is a move that hasn't changed much over the generations. Collecting several badges that enhance it could lead to extraordinary power.' Currently, Surf had a power of 130. With more enhancements, it could reach 150, or even 160. One day, a single Surf could surpass moves like Hyper Beam and Solar Beam. John even speculated that it might outclass moves like Dragon Ascent. "Oh wait, Dragon Ascent is only 120 in the game. Surf has already surpassed it." The game was taking an unexpectedly wild turn. In addition to the badge, Morty provided a skill TM for Shadow Ball and some notes on Ghost-type Pokemon breeding. This time, he'd even thrown in personal insights. "Ghost Eye manual!" John's eyes lit up. The effectiveness of Morty's Ghost eyes during battle had been undeniable. They were incredibly powerful, capable of countering abilities like Snow Cloak and Double Team. John's curiosity was piqued. He saved the game and recorded his progress before diving into Morty's notes. Ignoring the Ghost-type breeding guide for now, he focused on the Ghost eye cultivation secrets. [Ghost eyes are my family's secret skill...] John spent over half an hour reading the guide. Most of the content was backstory about the Ghost eyes' origin, leaving only a single practical section: a recipe. The method involved boiling a liquid according to the recipe and applying a towel soaked in it to the eyes every morning and evening. Over time, this process would improve vision, eventually granting an extraordinary level of sight referred to as "supervision." Supervision, or Ghosight as it was often called, allowed one to see with incredible clarity—even details like the veins on a leaf from miles away. While the name 'Ghostsight' was dramatic, it was essentially about enhancing vision to an almost supernatural level. Morty's ability to detect Greninja using Snow Cloak while inside the hail stemmed from the fact that snow only obscured the body but didn't render it invisible. Against Ghosight, the snow couldn't conceal anything. As for Double Team, its illusory clones were the result of light distortions caused by speed. With Ghosight, the illusion was easy to see through. The only technique it couldn't counter was Substitute, as it created a tangible entity. "Morty must have some innate psychic abilities," John concluded. Psychics were fairly common in the Pokemon world. They often specialized in Psychic or Ghost-type Pokemon. John had battled his fair share of them and left them all in the dust. "Even if I can't achieve Ghosight anytime soon," John mused, "enhancing my eyesight is still worthwhile." Ghost eyes required praticing it from a young age for optimal results. Starting as an adult made achieving Ghosight unlikely, but even modest improvements would be valuable—especially for someone like John, who spent hours staring at screens. He examined the recipe: [Coba Berry + Pelipper spray + Farfetch'd onions...] Most of the ingredients came from the Pokemon world, but one stood out: Farfetch'd green onions. While Coba Berries were rare, they were affordable enough for weekly use. "If I could turn this recipe into eye drops," John thought, "I might make a fortune. Even a diluted version would sell like crazy." The potential was clear: a product that didn't offer Ghosight but still improved eyesight would be a hit. John's entrepreneurial instincts were kicking in, and the possibilities were endless.
