Early Morning at the Beach
The sun had barely risen, and the beach was already alive with activity. A Godzilla-like Tyranitar was perched near the shoreline, its massive form looming over a meticulously crafted sandcastle. Tyranitar gazed at the miniature structure it had just finished building with an air of satisfaction, gently wagging its head.
"Tyra!" it chirped, surprisingly delicate for such a formidable creature. It admired its handiwork, seemingly pleased with the result.
From the corner of its eye, Tyranitar noticed a Palossand creeping closer. The living sandcastle shuffled nervously, its presence barely noticed by the larger Pokemon. Suddenly, Tyranitar lunged forward, its powerful jaws snapping shut around the sandcastle.
"Chomp!" The sound reverberated as sand crunched between Tyranitar's teeth. Palossand froze, horrified, before retreating hastily into the dunes.
"Stop eating sand, Tyranitar!" John called out as he sped past on a sleek speedboat, the engine roaring against the gentle waves.
Tyranitar waved a clawed hand at him, unbothered. But as John disappeared into the distance, it tilted its head, contemplating. The sand tasted... off. Was it the seasoning?
Unfazed, Tyranitar decided to build another castle. However, its attention was drawn to a shiny red object half-buried in the sand—a shovel. It reached out eagerly, but the tool was stuck. With a determined yank, it freed the shovel, unknowingly destroying the Palossand it was attached to. The ghostly sandcastle dissolved into a mound, its owner deciding that discretion was the better part of valor. It slunk away, muttering silent protests.
On the shore, John's Greninja helped him disembark with a smooth leap, the water ninja expertly propelling the boat to a stop. John stretched as he stepped onto the sand, sweat glistening from his half-hour training session. The rigorous routine had left him more drained than a two-hour workout at the gym.
Nearby, his Blaziken was engrossed in its own training, practicing a fiery double-kick combination against a charred wooden stake. The repeated attacks had reduced the once-sturdy post to smoldering blackened wood.
"Keep it up!" John encouraged, admiring Blaziken's progress. He could almost see the rhythm in its movements as flames danced around its legs.
Inside the beachside villa, the atmosphere was quieter. His Wobbuffet and Togekiss were sprawled across the couch, fast asleep, having clearly stayed up late playing games. John chuckled, grabbing a blanket to cover them.
In the kitchen, Hariyama was in its element, whipping up breakfast with efficiency. Ever since learning the art of kneading, Hariyama had become a culinary maestro, binge-watching cooking shows in its spare time. Today's menu featured egg pancakes, a fresh fruit platter, and a glass of Moo Moo Milk.
Gardevoir floated in with the meal, setting the tray in front of John with a touch of psychic grace. At the same time, it used its powers to send over a towel, which wrapped itself snugly around his shoulders.
"Thanks, everyone," John said as he dug into the hearty breakfast.
After breakfast and a quick shower, John returned to his room, ready to relax with his Gameboy. Just as he settled onto the bed, a sharp tap tap tap came from the balcony window. He pulled back the curtains to find a Pelipper perched outside, a mail pouch slung across its body.
"Got something for me?" John asked, opening the window. The Pelipper placed a small package on the table before taking off into the sky.
Inside the package was a certificate—his Junior Breeder qualification had arrived. The embossed lettering gleamed as he held it up to the light. "Finally," he muttered, placing it alongside his Trainer credentials on the desk.
His phone buzzed. It was Daisy, his fellow student and occasional rival.
"Congratulations, John!" Daisy's voice was as cheerful as ever. "So, your certificate came in?"
"Yep, just got it," John replied.
"Don't forget, there's a reward for qualifying as a Junior Breeder. The academy will deposit it into your account. Oh, and do you need help picking a Pokemon from the academy's special reserve?"
John considered this. "I've been eyeing a Bagon from the Dragon's Nest," he said thoughtfully.
Daisy's response was immediate. "What? You're aiming high, huh? The Dragon's Nest has top-tier Pokemon!"
John grinned. "If I'm getting something, I might as well aim for the best."
Later, his phone pinged again, this time with congratulations from his classmates in the group chat. One message stood out: "Ricardo and John, congrats on making Junior Breeder!"
John wasn't surprised. Ricardo was a natural talent, blending exceptional breeding skills with his innate aura abilities. Passing the exam had been a given for him.
After replying to a few more messages, John tossed his phone onto the bed and picked up his Gameboy. It was time to continue his journey in Pokemon Quest. He smiled, thinking of the adventures awaiting him in the Johto region's bustling cities and hidden forests.
