John found himself descending into the underground power plant for the thirty-fourth time in just five days. The dimly lit corridors and the hum of machinery had become all too familiar, yet the progress on the power storage meter still refused to hit 100%.
At first, John assumed he'd gain a steady 5% increase every time he powered up the plant. However, reality proved much less kind. Over the past few days, his efforts had only yielded sporadic jumps—sometimes 2%, sometimes 3%, but never as much as he'd hoped. Frustration gnawed at him as he calculated that he'd need at least two more days to finish the task.
"Garchomp, Dragon Claw!" John called out, his voice firm.
His trusty Garchomp dashed forward, slashing at the hulking Magnezone that had appeared as the leader of this dungeon run. With a single, precise strike, the electric and steel behemoth crumpled to the ground. John smirked. "That's thirty-four down."
The underground power plant was a treasure trove for Electric- and Steel-type Pokemon. Each trip offered an opportunity to encounter rare Pokemon like Mareep, Pichu, and Klink. John didn't let any slip by, catching whatever crossed his path, though none had proven to be particularly valuable for training.
Interestingly, the layout of the plant seemed to reset after every visit. Even the leader Pokemon guarding the power source changed—sometimes Ampharos, other times Zebstrika or Eelektross. Despite their variability, one thing was constant: they were always Electric-types. The best catch so far had been a Zebstrika with impressive individual stats, but nothing groundbreaking.
"This place is like a less predictable Mirage Tower," John mused. "Except instead of climbing levels, I'm running blind through a maze hoping for something worthwhile."
Finally, after the thirty-fourth run, a notification popped up on his Gameboy-like device:

John sighed in relief as the power storage progress bar ticked to 100%. "About time. Let's see what's behind door number thirty-five."
The atmosphere in the dungeon changed drastically as he re-entered. Instead of the usual sterile white lighting, a sinister red glow bathed the corridors. The air crackled with tension, and faint sparks danced along the walls, giving the place an almost malevolent vibe.
"Looks like we've hit the jackpot," John muttered, his heart racing. "Gardevoir, you're up."
He released his Gardevoir from its Pokeball, and the elegant Psychic-type cast a soft glow, illuminating the way forward. The layout was the same as before—a cluttered office strewn with papers and two branching hallways, one ending in a sturdy iron gate.
"Garchomp, Dragon Claw!" John ordered as he tossed another Pokeball.
The massive dragon-like Pokemon appeared and immediately set to work, tearing the gate apart with practiced ease. Beyond it, a group of Pokemon waited, their forms cloaked in shadows. As the light reached them, John's stomach dropped.
"Magnezone... lots of them."
A quick scan revealed the threat: ten Magnezones, each over level 50, their red eyes glowing ominously. Sparks flew as they locked onto John and his Pokemon. The air buzzed with the charge of impending attacks.
"Garchomp, Earthquake! Gardevoir, Teleport!" John barked, his voice sharp.
Garchomp slammed its foot into the ground, sending shockwaves rippling through the room. The attack was devastating, targeting the Magnezones' shared Electric and Steel weaknesses. Meanwhile, Gardevoir teleported both itself and John back to the safety of the office. They barely escaped as bolts of electricity and gleaming metallic shards blasted the space where they had stood moments ago.
A notification flashed on John's device:

John let out a breath he hadn't realized he was holding. "Good job, team. Let's not get too comfortable, though."

"Garchomp, Earthquake! Gardevoir, Dazzling Gleam! Let's go!"
Garchomp unleashed another ground-shattering attack, while Gardevoir followed up with a burst of radiant light. The combined onslaught was too much for the Magnezones, who fell one by one. More notifications streamed in as experience points racked up.
"Now this," John said with a grin, "is how you level up. Five LV 50 Magnezones are worth more than ten level 24s any day."
As the dust settled, Gardevoir tugged on John's sleeve, drawing his attention to the left side of the room. He turned, and his heart skipped a beat. Hundreds of glowing red eyes stared back at him from the darkness.
