Terrance was training Castform in an open space outside the Weather Institute.
Its training partner was Terrance’s Altaria.
In previous spars, Terrance was surprised to find that Altaria was hardly affected by the weather created by Castform.
Regardless of whether it was Growlithe, Beautifly, or Mismagius, they would be affected to some extent by different weather conditions. But Altaria, even in a downpour, showed no change in flying speed. Even with raindrops soaking its feathers, its movements remained swift and stable.
This couldn’t simply be explained by “strong will.” Terrance believed it was an Ability that had not yet been unearthed.
Being able to remain unaffected by the weather left Terrance slightly stunned. He inquired about it with Professor Lucci, who expressed regret.
There is indeed an Ability where Pokémon are not affected by the weather, and it has already been discovered in Psyduck and Lickitung…
Researchers at the Weather Institute had also conducted some research on Psyduck, but unfortunately, its ability to influence the weather fluctuations was too weak.

“As Pokémon grow stronger, will their Ability’s influence also increase?” Terrance asked.
“Yes, but it doesn’t mean much. While some Pokémon have the same Ability, the underlying principles differ depending on the anatomy of different Pokémon species. The daily training proceeded as usual, but due to some “special” training, Altaria’s execution of its moves was always slightly delayed.
However, Castform was unaware of what “special” training Altaria was undergoing and simply thought that Altaria’s execution of moves was slower than its own.
This led to Altaria’s actions not only startling Terrance but also surprising Castform.
Instead of breaking through the Hydro Pump as usual with Dragon Pulse, as Hydro Pump got closer, Altaria let out a loud cry and then—
The Hydro Pump exploded.
Castform stared blankly.
Terrance’ eyes widened…
Not only his eyes widened, but the emotions in Terrance’s heart at this moment were simply indescribable.

Principles of the Self-Created Technique “Erase” Move.

Moves like “Solar Beam,” “Hyper Beam,” and other “release-type” moves, or physical moves like Razor Leaf, have their own Natural Frequency.
According to the “principle of resonance,” as long as another identical sound wave reaches the same or a similar frequency, that is, the “resonant frequency,” then the originally small “vibration wave” can amplify its power by hundreds of times and cause material destruction in essence.

Using “Mirror Move”, Altaria can quickly replicate the opponent’s “release-type” moves and then through a series of calculations, it finds the most suitable frequency to use its cry to attack—even though the cry may seem insignificant, under Altaria’s exceptional soprano performance, it becomes melodious and resonant, capable of unleashing unimaginable destructive power against certain moves, erasing and disintegrating the “source of a move’s energy.”

In fact, the limitations of the Erase Technique were quite significant. It’s not easy to find the Natural Frequency of some moves’ energy. It must be moves that Altaria has been in touch with for years.
It may succeed once or twice through continuous defeats and the accumulation of experience against simple moves like Water Gun, Hydro Pump, Flamethrower, and Thunderbolt.
But those obscure moves that Altaria encounters maybe once in several years? Finding the Natural Frequency after witnessing them just once… that’s utterly impossible!
So, the Erase Technique can only deal with some simple, common moves.
And sure enough, Altaria’s first success… was against a common move… Hydro Pump!
In the intense training sessions with Castform during these days, Altaria’s exposure to Hydro Pump increased again, leading to a behavior where, before using Dragon Pulse, Altaria spent some time to use “Mirror Move” to find the Natural Frequency… and finally succeeded once!
Terrance then let Altaria imitate it again and again. With the experience of one successful attempt, Altaria’s success rate increased significantly.

Seeing the success of the Erase Technique… Terrance felt a great sense of achievement.
However, this is just the beginning. Erase Technique cannot be limited to just one move like Hydro Pump. But with one successful experience, the feasibility of this technique has been proven!
