Otherworld Advance Team Chapter 61

61: Chapter 57: Kali 61: Chapter 57: Kali “For me?” Luo’er pointed to himself, asking in some disbelief. The other didn’t speak, but solemnly nodded. She then took a step back, hid her hands behind her back, and blinked at him. “Why?” Luo released the gun grip under his armpit, stooped cautiously to pick up the AK assault rifle on the ground. The girl fiddled about, then took out a dirty bag that hung around her neck from inside her collar, and shook it in front of him. The sound of coins clinking came from inside. “Exchange!” The girl pointed at the bag, speaking for the first time. Luo’er stared at her blankly. He never expected that his temporary act of kindness would get him an assault rifle. After a while, he finally regained his senses and said his first opinion of the girl: “You are really brave!” The girl didn’t say anything, she just silently watched him. Luo’er checked the rifle. What disappointed him was that the serial number on the gun had been deliberately erased, with traces of machining still remaining. Clearly, the girl was not stupid enough to expose the weapon’s serial number. “Was the whistle just now blown by you?” asked Luo’er, while checking the gun. “Hmm,” the girl nodded, took out a crude whistle from somewhere, and blew it, and a sharp whistle came out. “What does this mean?” Luo’er meant why those people were so terrified by the sound of the whistle that they fled in all directions. “The whistle of a patrol officer.” The girl answered his question. The patrol officers were responsible for maintaining security within the city, in principle they belonged to the guard forces and didn’t have a dedicated police station. So it’d be more accurate to refer to them as patrolling guards. The daily job of these patrol officers was to patrol the streets and maintain city security. The whistle was their first warning. Once the warned did not heed the whistle, these patrol officers would draw their weapons and start fighting. As for what weapons they drew, naturally, those with guns would pull out guns, those with swords would draw swords. Unable to identify the weapon’s serial number, Luo’er was somewhat disappointed. Now he was thinking about how to deal with the gun, he surely couldn’t carry another gun on his back. Three of the team carried long-barreled guns, and the remaining two, Cheng Ziang would not want to be assigned a gun. As for Tangmo, she would be more dangerous with a gun than any enemy. After much consideration, Luo’er decided to return the gun. After all, the little girl had just successfully stole the gun, to put it bluntly, it was theft, and it would make Luo’er an accomplice to keep it. He glanced at the girl, she was holding the bag of money in her arms and staring at him curiously with her wide eyes. He ignored her gaze and walked straight towards the location where the adventurers had been. The bearded man was looking around in distress because he had lost his gun. Luo’er walked up to him and said, “Sir, is this yours?” The bearded man turned around and relaxed when he saw the gun wrapped in cloth in Luo’er’s hand. But when he saw Luo’er’s face, he got angry immediately. “You bastard, did you steal my stuff?” bellowed the bearded man angrily. As an Aud, he had an instinctive disgust for half-elves like Luo’er. “I found it, you carelessly lost it.” Luo’er shrugged, not caring about his tone, and explained to him. “I had it in my hand, how could I lose it? Was that whistle just now blown by you?” The bearded man suddenly thought of something and cursed. Luo’er instinctively looked back, the girl was hiding around the corner behind him, intently looking at him, fearing that he would expose her. “Give me the gun back, you son of a bitch!” The bearded man’s tone was getting worse and worse. “Here.” Luo’er obediently gave him the gun, just as the bearded man was about to take it when he suddenly pulled it back, then kicked him hard in the crotch. The bearded man let out a painful howl and doubled over, holding his lower body. Luo’er then gripped the gun barrel, raised the assault rifle and swung it. The butt of the gun hit squarely on the bearded man’s face, who fell to the ground, knocked out cold, in the pose he was before the strike, like a statue. “Can’t even take a gift.” Luo’er looked down at him, said to himself expressionlessly. Seeing Luo’er knock down the bearded guy, the girl calmly walked over, standing behind him, looking at him with curiosity. Luo’er turned to look at her, was silent for a moment, then asked, “Do you know what this is?” “Hmm,” the girl tilted her head, nodded, and biting her finger said, “A weapon from Otherworld.” “Do you know what it’s for?” Luo’er continued. “It can be sold for money,” the girl said earnestly, “Some people pay high prices for such weapons.” “You seem to know quite a lot.” “I heard it in the tavern.” “Why do you steal things?” Luo’er asked. “To survive.” The girl answered. Luo’er fell silent for a moment, knowing he shouldn’t have asked such a stupid question. He picked up the gun and examined it, eventually deciding, and handed it over to the girl. “Don’t you want it?” The girl asked. “Don’t need it.” Luo’er said blandly. The girl didn’t stand on ceremony, but directly reached out and took the assault rifle. The rifle was not light, so it was somewhat difficult for her to hold. “Do you know how to handle it?” Luo’er continued to ask. “Um!” The girl nodded. “I have to go, you should leave here too, don’t wait for this idiot to wake up.” Luo’er said, turning to walk out of the alley. After a few turns, Luo’er found that the girl hadn’t left him, but was following him in small steps with the gun tucked under her arm. He turned his head and frowned, “Hurry up and go. What are you following me for?” “Can’t I follow you?” The girl asked, looking at him. “No!” Luo’er bluntly refused. He walked a few steps and found that the girl was still following him closely. He nervously pulled out the pistol from under his arm and pointed it at her, warning her, “Go away, don’t follow me.” “Is this weapon for me too?” The girl looked at the muzzle pointed at her, unafraid, and continued to ask. Luo’er was speechless. He couldn’t figure out the girl’s background, so he didn’t dare to trust her easily. He couldn’t be sure whether the girl was deliberately getting close to him, or simply wanted to follow him. After pondering for a moment, Luo’er put away his pistol. He looked at the girl seriously again, then asked, “What’s your name?” “Kali!” The girl pronounced the name. “Did you grow up here?” Luo’er pointed to the ground and asked. “So, you should be very familiar with this place, right?” After hesitating for a while, Luo’er cautiously asked, “Do you… know the Assassin’s Guild?” “Yes, I do!” To his surprise, Kali quickly nodded. “You know?” Luo’er was surprised that his casual question had revealed the clue he had been tirelessly searching for. “Uncle Dunuo knows where it is, he’s often asked to help out, and he always gets a lot of money for it.” Kali revealed without reservation. “Where is this Uncle Dunuo?” Luo’er continued. “He lives in the slums and goes back to the pub every day to drink.” “Can you take me to find him?” Luo’er asked anxiously. “I can!” Kali nodded, readily agreeing to his request. Despite his doubts, Luo’er decided to take a risk. However, he was still somewhat uneasy, in case he fell into a trap. In this unfamiliar place, there would be no one to help him. But even though the risk was great, Luo’er decided to give it a try. Or perhaps the look in this seemingly dull girl’s eyes instinctively made him trust her. Luo’er followed Kali through the winding alleyways, finally arriving at a rundown pub. Kali looked back at him, then pushed the door open and walked in. Luo’er followed her inside, instantly hit by a familiar smell of filth. The pub was crowded and noisy. Kali pointed to a bald, fat man sitting at the bar drinking, and said to Luo’er, “That’s Dunuo.” “Thank you!” Luo’er nodded, took out a gold coin from his pocket and placed it in her hand, then said to her, “You go first, handle that thing properly. Don’t get into trouble.” Kali looked at him with confusion, and though she had her doubts, she still pocketed the money. She hugged the gun, glanced at him a few times, and then reluctantly turned and left. After sending off Kali, Luo’er approached Dunuo. The fat man was drinking and a strong smell of alcohol radiated from him. Suppressing his disgust, Luo’er approached and asked, “Are you Mr. Dunuo focused on him with bleary eyes. Seeing the half-elf features on him, he frowned. As he turned, Luo’er could smell the liquor he was drinking. It was an imported liquor from Earth, strong and expensive. The fact that he could afford such drinks suggested that Dunuo was not a simple person. “Do you know about the Assassin’s Guild?” Luo’er asked cautiously. Dunuo sized him up, then let out a belch, exuding a strong smell of alcohol. He asked slowly, “What do you want with the Assassin’s Guild?” “I want to kill someone.” Luo’er invented an excuse. “Killing someone,” Dunuo lifted his drink, asking sarcastically, “Brought enough gold coins?” “How much?” Luo’er asked. Dunuo made a gesture and carelessly said, “200 gold coins!” “200?” Luo’er checked his wallet and found only a meager contribution of more than a dozen gold coins he had previously collected. He took out the remaining money and handed it to Dunuo. “This is a deposit, tell me a place, I’ll bring the money there.” Luo’er said, fearing that the man might backtrack. But then again, it wasn’t his money, so he wasn’t too concerned.
