“There’s no but.” Xu Yinrong interrupted him and pointed at an empty box lying on the floor, signaling him to help packing, then he continued, “You have what it takes to become successful, the accomplishments you have got the opportunities you have gained are all based on your hard working and talent. I was just doing my job, teaching you and training you, it’s unfair how they deny you and exaggerate my training.”
He Bai opened his mouth, attempting to say something, yet Xu Yinrong threw him a book and stopped him.
“Put this book to the box on the right.” said Xu Yinrong, then he jerked his chin at a box near the door, with a smile he said, “All right now, let’s change the subject, come help me packing.”
Seeing how determined Xu Yinrong was, He Bai did what he was told to, all the emotions he was going through now became one sentence, “Thank you so much, my master.”
“Pleasure, let’s keep packing before it gets dark, shall we?” Xu Yinrong patted on his shoulders and said, “People cannot make up shit like I helped you shoot you works, I pulled strings for you, my favorite student, I tempered the results and things like that. Bai, keep working hard, you will become somebody and I know it.”
He Bai nodded, he felt as if there were a lump in his throat.
The next day after Xu Yinrong submitted his resignation report, Di Qiuhe found the solid evidence of the curator ganged up with the president of photography club, slandering He Bai online. Di Qiuhe hired lawyers to take charge of this matter, and the two both received lawyer’s letters.
Leaders of Q University were so mad at the curator and the president of photography club, it’s those two that had resulted the resignation of their most respected professor, Xu Yinrong. They made a statement on how it was impossible for anyone to tamper the certificate exams, they warned several students who were passionate about spreading rumors, especially that president of photography club, he was recorded a demerit. And they visited Xu Yinrong in person to apologize.
The students were dumbfounded, they did not see this coming, they thought is was just some stupid fun spreading some juicy materials online, no big deal. Plus, they did not want Xu Yinrong, the best professor on campus to resign.
Xu Yinrong was famous for being responsible, He Bai did got some private training from Xu Yinrong, so did half of the students in his class. It they had any idea this was how it turned out, they would have shut up and mind their own business.

The curator was even more miserable, he just wanted to punish He Bai for stealing his daughter’s thunder, when he looked for those paid posters, he made it specific that he did not want to involve Xu Yinrong in this. It they had to mention his name, they needed to talk Xu Yinrong up, little did he expect Xu Yinrong was so righteous, he gave up his job to defend his student.
Most importantly, everyone knew it was his doing now that he had got a lawyer’s letter.
Q University now was putting pressure on the museum for losing Xu Yinrong, surely he would be the one who was going to take that pressure, most likely he would get sacked.
He was just trying to do something nice for his daughter, affecting He Bai’s mood thus he couldn’t have good works for the following contest was what he wanted. The proverb “Go for wool and come home shorn” described the situation the best, he had a lawsuit now, and his job was at risk, he might have had dragged his daughter into this mess as well.
He Bai now was lying the sofa and he rejected the call from the curator again, sulking.
“How are you feeling, don’t worry, I’ve left this matter to the lawyers.” Di Qiuhe held him in his arms and kissed his forehead as a comfort.
He Bai shook his head, he sat up and pulled his hair, he was so mad, “I should haved hire a lawyer when the rumors first started, what’s the point of it now, Professor had already resigned.”
“Of course there’s a point, no one will take advantage you from now on.” Di Qiuhe grabbed He Bai’s hand and stopped him from pulling and torturing his hair, “Bai, let’s take this as a valuable lesson, from now on, anyone who treats you as a pushover, don’t just ignore them, you need to fight back, fight until they stop. If you can’t be bothered, just tell me, I’ll fight for you, ignoring them is never the way out.”
“I did not just ignore them… …” He Bai retorted, he did post something to defend himself online.
Seeing how crestfallen He Bai was, Di Qiuhe poked at his dimple and said, “I know you had defended yourself, but there are people who are jealous of you out there, there are haters out there no matter what you do, it’s impossible to dig into everything. But you have to keep this in mind, Elder Xu decided to resign by himself, stop blaming yourself already. Plus this might be a blessing in disguise, Elder Xu is getting old, you can visit him more often and show him more of your work.”
He Bai now felt better, he shot Di Qiuhe a glimpse, “You are one smooth talker.”
“I’m just analyzing the situation accordingly.” Di Qiuhe raised his eyebrows and squeezed He Bai’s face, “There there, smile for me, puppy.”
He Bai made a face and pounced on Di Qiuhe, finally he was feeling better.
On the plus side, there was an increasing number of people who started to follow the Art Festival, people were curious to see He Bai’s work.
On the first of May, ’s Army> was finally released, and on the same day the “International Art Festival for Uni Students” published the top ten works in the finals, and He Bai ranked the first.
