Since it was getting late, He Bai went directly to the classroom when he made it to the campus.
Hickeys from last night had surely locked the attention from his roommates, as expected. Passing the textbook to Wang Hu, Bai met their stare head on, flipping through the book while finding himself a comfortable seat, “Got any plans for tonight, shall we dinner together? Di Qiuhe’s treat.”
“Wow wow wow, taking the boyfriend back home for inspection?” Junjie was making a funny face, he patted He Bai’s shoulder with a smirk, “LaoSi, don’t you worry about a thing, we’ve got your back, damn that Di Qiuhe if he ever mistreats you, we will teach him a lesson at your service.”
Wang Hu and Chen Jie nodded in agreement.
Living under the same roof for about three years now, as the youngest of the four of them, they barely referred He Bai as “LaoSi”, “Si” sounds a lot like “death” in Mandarin, which was not too auspicious, they all called him by his name.
Now that Junjie suddenly referred him as “LaoSi”, which dumbfounded He Bai for a second, then he grasped where Junjie came from. And he felt so warm because his roommates loved him so deeply. He Bai patted Junjie on the hand and looked at his roommates, jokingly, “Thank you guys so much, you can expect a big fat red packet from me on your future weddings.”
“A red packet is far from enough, you are entrusted with the job of best man and photographer, lot of work.” Junjie was overjoyed for him, he gave a whole speech on fantasizing their future life for He Bai and Di Qiuhe, he only halted on seeing the professor walking into the classroom.
He Bai opened his notebook, swept a look at his roommates, an ear-to-ear smile lit up his face, then he texted Di Qiuhe.
He Bai: Please book a nice restaurant for my roommates, they are my best buddies.
Di Qiuhe: Of course, I got this.
Di Qiuhe was busying taking a tour in the villa, wandering around here and there, trying to record on a small pad all the stuff that they needed in the villa for future use.
He was too carried away last night that he did not pay a visit on the third floor, now he found the little surprised hidden on the third floor this morning.
It turned out where he was standing while holding a pad filled with needed items now, a little photo wall was right there opposite the window, where the best lighting was casting, the wall was decorated with his photos. And now he was smiling like Goofy before he realized it.
No wonder it was all scenic photos on the first floor, not a single portrait could be spot, puppy set a portrait section here on the third floor. A candid snap from their first encounter, a snap while they were having steak dinner in Di Qiuhe’s apartment… just to name a few. Puppy took a decent amount photos for him now.
He looked at himself in the photos, sensing the change of his attitude, from refusing in the beginning to looking directly at the camera, the smile from robotic to genuine, he seemed to having reviewed the journey of him falling in love with puppy.
Being a photographer was the best profession in the entire world.
He stepped back to take a picture of this photo wall, saved the pic in the file, and encrypted it, only himself got to see the pic.
The two rooms on the fourth floor was not fully furnished yet, by the look of the layout, the smaller one was supposed to be the darkroom, while the other one was supposed to be set as a studio, both rooms were built in sound insulation materials. Both were ready to put in use as soon as the equipment were purchased.
Di Qiuhe imagined how great it gonna be to just enjoy movies in the studio, cuddling each other in the sofa, he added “home cinema” on his pad. Having double checked the list on the pad, and seeing it was getting late, he put the pad away and put on his jacket, heading to Q university after called Wang Boyi.
The four of them were still refreshing themselves after a whole afternoon’s lectures, they were just unwinding themselves in the dorm when Di Qiuhe called. So they left dorm side by side, and were stuffed into two luxury cars by Di Qiuhe who was already waiting downstairs, and off the went to a fancy restaurant near the campus.
The four were a bit dumbfounded as they thought they would be dining some street food, especially He Bai, who kept staring at the car, he looked at the logo on the steering wheel and he looked again in case he had misread it, he turned to Di Qiuhe, “Are you sure you are giving me this car as a gift? Are you sure?”
Di Qiuhe caught hold of He Bai’s hand and gave a squeeze, “Yeah, what’s the matter? You don’t like it ?”
“Anyone would absolutely love it…” He Bai replied honestly while he frowned, “But this is an awfully expensive, too high profile for a student…” This car might be worthy a villa, when Di Qiuhe mentioned sending him a car as a gift, He Bai expected a car, a normal car.
“I see Junjie’s driving a similar price car, isn’t he?” Di Qiuhe was still holding He Bai’s hand, and he gave a kiss on He Bai’s hand as he got more emotional, “What’s wrong with high profile, this car suits you just right giving consideration to how well you are doing. What’s more, you are graduating next year, surely you will have less classes to attend, and it might be convenient to live off campus, this car is just the right car for you.”
He Bai gave Di Qiuhe a glare and withdrew his hand, “Are you a puppy, always licking others. Plus, says who that I’m going to living off campus? Mind you, I’m living in the dorm with my buddies till I graduate!”
Di Qiuhe was stricken dumb, brows tightly knitted, “What about me then, it doesn’t make any sense we have a home together now and it’s well furnished, yet I need to face the wall every time I come back!”
Well, that was exactly He Bai’s plan. He replied in earnest, “You need to work hard for your film, meanwhile, I also need to work hard for my shooting and my study. You can spend some quality time with your grandpa from Monday to Friday, and we can see each other at weekends at home, how perfect it that.”
Di Qiuhe kept a poker face the whole time, “Perfect bullshit.”
He Bai rolled his eyes, “Hey, where are your manners, movie star?”
