Chapter 30: Streetlamp King
Vivi explained the intelligence she had gathered about Baroque Works. Although not extensive, it was everything she had learned during her years undercover.
The most crucial piece of information concerned the never-seen boss, Mr. 0.
His true identity was Crocodile, one of the current Seven Warlords of the Sea.
While managing the Rain Dinners casino and maintaining his hero image by fighting off invading pirates, he was secretly the mastermind behind the criminal organization.
"Why... why am I so unlucky?"
Nami collapsed onto the ground, wanting to cry but having no tears left. "I’m so stupid! Really! I only knew accepting the mission meant earning big money..."
Sprawled out with her fair legs exposed, Nami looked appealingly pitiful in her distress. Vivi, in turn, began comforting her.
"I don’t care! More money! We need more money!"
Seeing Nami’s grimacing, yelling face, black lines formed over Reiner’s head.
He glanced towards the distance where Luffy had chased Mr. 3 into the forest. Given Luffy’s strength, fighting Brother Three was like child’s play for him.
Reiner recalled the Blue Ogre and Red Ogre summons and headed off in another direction into the woods. "Misters Giants, please look after them."
"Gahahahaha! Don’t worry, kid Reiner!"
"How could we let guests get hurt right before our eyes?"
"Thanks, Misters! I’ll bring two more barrels of booze for you later!" Reiner waved with a smile and turned back into the forest.
"3000 Kilogram Press!"
"Damn ghost things! You think you can touch me?!"
Mr. 5’s tone was dismissive, but his eyes held a trace of apprehension as he stared grimly at the tall Fish-Man figure before him.
He had carelessly taken a punch from this Fish-Man earlier, and it still faintly ached.
This Fish-Man was taller than the others, with large, sword-like fins on its arms, currently assuming a karate stance, facing off against Mr. 5.
This was the summon Reiner had created using Kuroobi’s template, capable of using Fish-Man Karate and Fish-Man Jujutsu.
"Why are there so many Fish-Men here!?"
Miss Valentine, using her ability to float in the air, dodged a water bullet shot by another Fish-Man, frowning as she muttered under her breath.
Mr. 5 dug into his nostril, flicked out an explosive booger that blew away three charging Fish-Men.
"There’s something wrong with these Fish-Men. Besides being mute like puppets, they don’t even make a sound when their arms and legs get blown off."
At this moment, neither of them noticed Reiner standing above them on a sturdy tree branch nearby, observing the battle below.
"These two are pretty weak," Reiner couldn’t help but comment. A group of Fish-Man undead was actually tying down both of them. Truly worthy of being one-punch fodder for Luffy and Zoro.
Besides these two below, there was also the little girl, Mr. 3’s partner, who had gone to help when Luffy started fighting Mr. 3.
Seeing no one else around, Reiner raised his hand. Instantly, rows of void rifts opened behind him, and dozens, even hundreds, of knives, spears, swords, and halberds emerged from the cracks.
"Guess I have my own Gate of Treasures now," Reiner chuckled softly. With a thought and a wave of his hand downwards...
Instantly, all the weapons shot down as if thrown, aimed at the fighting Mr. 5 and Miss Valentine.
Blades rained down like a torrential downpour, filling the forest clearing with flashing steel.
Miss Valentine, floating at low altitude and entirely focused on the battle below, was caught completely off guard as a longsword pierced her thigh.
She let out a sharp scream and whipped her head around, only to see the dense rain of blades already upon her. Before she could react, a long spear pierced through her delicate body with a sickening squish.
Her ability forcibly deactivated, she plummeted heavily to the ground. Immediately following, several cold glints flashed, more weapons stabbing into her body, pinning her to the earth.
Mr. 5 had only just heard the scream and turned his head when his partner was taken down by the sudden sneak attack.
He inhaled sharply, then forcefully blew out the air, creating an explosion that blasted away all the weapons flying towards him.
"Can’t even block a move like that?" Reiner remarked coolly.
The woman in the hip-hugging skirt lying on the ground was already lifeless. Even if her body was somewhat tougher than an ordinary person’s, she had little defense against cold weapons.
This was an attack Reiner had developed long ago mainly for show; it had little real power, only good for clearing out small fry.
As for the principle behind it...
Can’t say, it would ruin the mystique.
"Bastard!! Using a sneak attack!!"
A furious roar came from below the tree. Mr. 5 had spotted him, his face contorted in anger as he reached up to dig into his nostril again.
"What kind of crappy move is that!"
Reiner’s face darkened. He commanded the Kuroobi undead to press forward, unleashing a full-power Fish-Man Karate: Thousand Tile Punch towards Mr. 5.
However, Mr. 5 didn’t stop his action, raising one arm to tank the blow head-on. He was sent flying back, crashing into a tree trunk.
"Despicable guy! Go die!!"
Mr. 5’s blocking arm was completely twisted. Coughing up blood, he extended his other hand, aiming it ferociously at Reiner.
Is he really determined to avenge his partner? Reiner thought. With a mental command, a void rift opened, and a sinister long spear emerged.
"Clearing minions with that move is one thing... but with Blue Ogre and Red Ogre, it’s a different story."
With another command from Reiner, the long spear shot out with terrifying momentum, streaking across the sky like a meteor, reaching its target with lightning speed.
"Nose Fancy Can—" (Mr. 5 starting attack name)
The long spear pierced through the hand Mr. 5 had extended to launch his attack, impaled his body, carried him backward, and slammed him against a tree.
Its momentum unabated, the spear punched clean through, continuing until it tore ghastly holes through a dozen more trees behind before finally embedding itself in a distant trunk.
"Total overkill," Reiner thought, leaping down from the tree.
Reiner wouldn’t have been surprised by the power of a spear thrown by Red Ogre.
If it had been a Spear of Elbaf like the one that pierced the Island Eater, Mr. 5 probably wouldn’t even have ashes left.
Using Red Ogre for an enemy of this level was practically giving him too much face.
"...Cough... Cough cough."
A horrific hole gaped in Mr. 5’s torso. He was slumped, half-embedded in the tree trunk, his face a mask of agony and ferocity.
Reiner walked slowly towards him, taking out a pack of cigarettes from the breast pocket of his deep blue shirt.
"You... bastard... actually..."
"Actually... killed Valentine."
Mr. 5 raised a weak, powerless hand and threw a slow punch that landed harmlessly against Reiner’s chest.
"When you’re about to die, you should be begging for mercy, you know."
Reiner glanced back at the lifeless body of the skirt-clad girl on the ground.
"Your lover?" Reiner asked coolly, drawing his White Bone Chain Sword.
"Heh heh..." A weak sound escaped Mr. 5’s lips. His eyes slowly closed, and his head slumped forward.
Reiner retracted the blood-stained White Bone Chain Sword, collected the man’s template, and turned to leave.
Back at the clearing in the center of Little Garden Island...
"Nami, are we sure we don’t need to help?" Vivi asked worriedly. After all, their opponents were high-ranking top agents of Baroque Works.
Nami patted Vivi’s shoulder reassuringly and smiled. "Don’t worry! Luffy is inhumanly strong!"
"That’s right! And so is Reiner! Don’t underestimate the monsters on our ship!" Usopp added proudly.
Although Reiner disguised his own strength during fights, they knew how powerful his undead were; no one truly considered him part of the Weakling Trio.
Just as he finished speaking, a dinosaur emerged from the deep forest nearby. Sitting atop it was a figure in a sea-blue shirt and beige trousers, with golden hair.
Usopp immediately got excited. "Whoa! It’s a T-Rex, Reiner!"
"I’ve dealt with them, everyone."
Reiner jumped down from the T-Rex and walked over with a smile. "Some guy with an afro actually attacked me with his boogers. So gross."
Usopp burst out laughing. "Hahaha! Don’t tell me you got hit?"
"Eww~ Stay away from me!" Nami grimaced, looking disgusted.
