Inoichi, his father, raised his cup and spoke with a proud smile. "Today, we've come together to celebrate two promotions—Shikamaru's advancement to Chunin and Inoiki's promotion to Special Jonin. This calls for a proper celebration!"
"Yay!" The room erupted in cheers as everyone raised their drinks in agreement.
Inoiki scratched the back of his head, slightly embarrassed. "It's really not that big of a deal... but thank you. This means a lot."
His mother, smiling warmly, placed a beautifully arranged plate of sushi in front of him. "Here, eat your favorite sushi. I made it myself, just for you."
Inoiki waved a hand with a sheepish chuckle. "Ah, Mom... I appreciate it, really, but I don't think I can eat anymore."
She frowned. "Why not?"
He laughed. "I just had a farewell party with my teammates, and let's just say... it got competitive. We decided to have an eating contest—who could eat the most ramen. And of course," he smirked, "I won. Eight whole bowls. So yeah... I might actually explode if I eat anything else right now."
Everyone in the room burst into laughter.
Choji clapped him on the back, grinning. "Eight bowls? Not bad, Inoiki. But next time, invite me—I'll give you a real challenge."
Inoichi frowned, confusion flickering across his face. "You left your team?"
Inoiki nodded. "Yeah. Things happened, and in the end, we decided it was best to go our separate ways. I didn't want to split up, but they did—so who was I to force them to stay?" He exhaled and leaned back slightly. "After that, the Hokage approved me for solo missions, considering my strength."
His mother's expression instantly shifted to concern. "But, son... won't that be even more dangerous for you?"
Inoiki gave her a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, Mom. I'll be fine. I'm strong—strong enough to handle myself. And I promise you, if things ever get too dangerous, I won't hesitate to escape. Honestly, there are very few people in this world who could stop me if I truly wanted to run... and I doubt they'd be my enemies." He looked her in the eye. "That's my promise to you."
His mother studied him for a moment before nodding. She placed a gentle hand on his cheek, her touch warm and full of trust. "I believe in you, my son."
Inoiki smiled, then clapped his hands together. "Alright, enough of that! Let's not bring down the mood. We're supposed to be celebrating!"
With that, the party continued in full swing. Laughter echoed through the house as music played, and soon, a dance session began. People sang along to old folk tunes, clapping and swaying to the rhythm.
The highlight of the night, however, was Shikamaru—who, much to his dismay, was dragged onto the dance floor by Inoiki.
"Oh, come on, Shikamaru, don't be a drag!" Inoiki teased as he pulled him in.
Shikamaru groaned. "This is exactly why I hate parties." But his lazy complaints only made it funnier as he halfheartedly shuffled to the beat, drawing laughter from everyone watching.
Meanwhile, the fathers gathered around, sharing drinks and swapping stories, their deep voices rumbling with laughter between sips of wine.
By the time the party finally wound down, the house was filled with warmth, contentment, and the lingering echoes of joy.
One by one, everyone retreated to their rooms, exhaustion settling in after the lively night. Inoiki lay down on his bed, staring at the ceiling for a moment before closing his eyes.
Tomorrow would be the start of something new. But tonight, he could rest—surrounded by the people who cared for him.
And with that thought, he drifted into sleep, just as the rest of his family did.
The next morning, Inoiki woke up early, as always, to train. Yesterday had been a day of celebration, but he hadn't forgotten his conviction—to become even stronger. Enjoyment was temporary, but strength was something he had to continuously earn.
As the days passed, he threw himself back into his intense training regimen. His body ached, but he welcomed the pain—it was proof of progress.
On the third morning, as Inoiki pushed himself through another grueling session, an ANBU ninja suddenly appeared in his courtyard.
Inoiki barely glanced up. At that moment, he was in the middle of push-ups, a set of heavy weights strapped to his back. But that wasn't all—his Psychokinetic abilities were at work, amplifying the force pressing down on him, making each movement even more punishing.
The masked ninja spoke in a calm, clipped tone. "The Hokage has summoned you."
And just like that, before Inoiki could even respond, the ANBU flickered out of existence, vanishing as swiftly as he had arrived.
Inoiki exhaled sharply, lowering himself onto his forearms before pushing up with controlled strength. He paused for a moment, rolling his shoulders, feeling the lingering strain in his muscles.
The Hokage, huh? He smirked slightly. This should be interesting.
With that, he stood up, dusted himself off, and prepared to see what awaited him.
