Halfway through the conversation, Hefei stopped speaking. Her face was still hurting; there was no need to risk another slap.
"Teacher, I don’t need you to guide me to draw Divine Power, you may not believe it, but I’m a professional at this."
Wayne glanced at The Book of Greed, which was impatient, rubbing its ’hands’ together like a fly, ready to feast.
Wayne took a deep breath, picked up the card and held it in his hand, his invisible tendrils spread out, plundering the greenness within the card voraciously.
Within the card, it was as if a breeze had swept through, awakening the dormant towering trees.
Leaves fluttered in the wind like green butterflies, their emerald-like lustre glinting, dazzlingly beautiful, taking one’s breath away.
In the depths, it seemed as though the rustling sound was slowly drifting out.
Hefei was stunned for a moment. As soon as Wayne had grasped the card, it had responded, much like a terrifying Elemental Affinity; Divine Power had also responded to Wayne.
Oh Goddess above, could this kid be your illegitimate son?
Hefei quickly shook her head to dispel the disrespectful and blasphemous thought from her mind and quickly stepped behind her student, pressing her hands on his shoulders, assisting him in sensing Divine Power.
That was somewhat counterproductive!
The Book of Greed was feasting joyfully when it suddenly noticed that the pace of the ’waiter’ serving food had slowed, and in its annoyance, it slammed the table and slapped the bench, instructing Wayne to get rid of the riff-raff.
Divine TM riff-raff, it was her treat, without her there would be no feast!
Although Hefei was somewhat disrupting, indeed restricting the flow of Divine Power, without her misguided help, Wayne would not have made it today.
The Book of Greed didn’t eat just anything; it wouldn’t eat what it had eaten before, nor the side dishes and condiments. It only feasted on new dishes and the essence, not even glancing at useless additives.
"Wayne, don’t space out, practice according to the formula."
Hefei reminded him, guiding Wayne’s Magic Power to charge at the final two vacant corners of the Hexagram, the Essence of Life already solidified, unshakable, the tremendous Magic Power impacting the Hexagram.
Perhaps because the peripheral hexagon was too stable, this process was not smooth, and Wayne exerted a great deal of effort; the first charge failed.
He put down the card, telling The Book of Greed to stop eating, as all the meat was gone, not to make do with soup and water to feed beggars!
The Book of Greed calmed down a bit, in just that small amount of time, it had almost gobbled up everything on the card, totally uninterested in the remaining scraps.
"Your Essence of Life is very stable, with a solid foundation; it’s normal to fail the first time. If you had learned the Magic Power burst technique of the Silver Stage, you would have succeeded just now."
Hefei encouraged her student, prompting him to hold the card again to begin the second attempt.
The effect was mediocre.
All the good stuff in the card had been swept away by The Book of Greed, and from the outside, the Divine Power appeared unchanged, not weakened, still usable, but for Wayne’s Hexagram, the scraps were useless, completely failing to attract it.
The second attempt also ended in failure.
"Success! Another big step forward!"
Hefei patted her student’s shoulder, encouragingly saying, "You’re learning fast, the second charge at the Hexagram even managed to disperse the void, a few more tries and you will be able to solidify the Divine."
That’s unlikely to work.
Wayne wasn’t optimistic; he understood his own situation very well. All the good stuff had been taken by The Book of Greed, the void wouldn’t bother with the remaining Divine Power.
Given his situation, when the Divine Power in the sacred object was at its purest, which was when he first held the card, he had the highest chance of success.
If the first attempt failed, no matter how many times he tried after, it would be impossible to succeed!

As Wayne had predicted, the subsequent attempts all ended in failure, even though Hefei kept encouraging him that failure is the mother of success and told her student not to give up, it was to no avail.
Success can only be nurtured by success; failure doesn’t work, it can’t give birth to success, not even a stepmother.
Wayne continued to fail, and after more than ten attempts, even Hefei began to question life, murmuring, "That’s not right, can the Protogenos Bloodline be so exaggerating that a sacred object isn’t fit to guide external force?"
Hefei frowned in thought, wondering where to find a more powerful sacred object.
Seeing his teacher worry so much for him, Wayne felt ashamed; the teacher had done more than enough, the problem was with him. Even if another sacred object was brought over, the result would only be The Book of Greed having a field day.

An idea suddenly brightened Wayne’s face. Right, why worry about a sacred object, wasn’t it just natural Divine Power? There was plenty of that inside The Book of Greed.
With that thought, he sat cross-legged, closed his eyes, and faced off with The Book of Greed’s Great Eyeball; after switching viewpoints, the Great Eyeball looked to the side at a slightly smaller eyeball representative of ’nature.’ Every time The Book of Greed consumed Divine Power related to nature, this eyeball would brighten by a shade.
As Wayne operated, the small eyeball representing ’nature’ shone brightly, reflecting pure natural Divine Power. Green luminescence seeped through Wayne’s Magic Power, turning him into a human-shaped green lamp, nearly blinding Hefei with its brightness.
Hefei was shocked and rushed over to look at the card in Wayne’s hands; the card glowed brightly green. Then she firmly pressed her hands on Wayne’s shoulders and said rapidly, "The previous attempts didn’t unleash their full power, this opportunity is rare, you definitely can succeed this time."
Wayne didn’t catch what his teacher said; his Magic Power was so violently charging that the void couldn’t maintain stability, the two points of light dispersed into a smattering of dots. As the formula operated, it wrapped a portion of the natural Divine Power and slowly took shape.
