The Thousand-Eyed Demon’s descent had failed, costing it a great deal of thought and part of its soul, becoming the latest laughingstock of Hell.
The allies it had once known were all laughing crooked smiles. After their glee, they one after another extended helping hands.
"With such severe injuries, your territory is sure to be taken by other devils. Luckily, it’s not a big deal. Brothers have your back; we’ll take care of some of your lands for now and return them when you’ve recovered."
"Let go, don’t be ungrateful. Your own brothers wouldn’t deceive you. Hand it over!"
In Hell, let’s set aside the plight of the Thousand-Eyes Demon for a moment. Here on earth, although its descent had failed, two fragments of its thought continued to exist.
One part was sealed and collected by the Holy See, placed within the Golden Rule Bible, under the potent scrutiny of angels.
The other, brought away by the Liberty Mage with whom a deal was struck, was sealed and turned into the statue before us.
At first glance, the Thousand-Eyed Demon seemed imprisoned and humiliated, almost better off dead, but it wasn’t the slightest bit panicked, even somewhat pleased with itself.
Existence is everything, all for the sake of existence.
It was true that its thoughts were sealed, but this did not mean it would never leave. Since the Liberty Mage had chosen to cooperate, it had a way to steer the Mage’s desires, thereby making him its puppet.

At the edge of the dark expanse, a figure stepped forward—a white-bearded old man draped in a mage’s robe, a triangular magic hat atop his head, and a wooden magic wand in hand.
Obu’s name was very long, but ignoring the middle part, one could simply call him Obu Windsor!
As a member of the Royal Family, Obu wasn’t originally a Windsor.
For a long time, he had used his family’s name as his surname—until twenty years ago when the Royal Family officially adopted a unified surname, and he changed his to Windsor.
As for his former surname, Obu came from a complicated lineage, hailing from one of the fourteen Tulip Families.
"You finally came, I thought you would wait a little while longer before seeking me?" A light chuckle followed as the voice of the Thousand-Eyed Demon statue spoke.
The laughter made Obu frown, displeased, he said, "Don’t misunderstand, I kept you here for research on Hell; I have no intention of making a deal with you."
"That’s what they all say at first."
The Thousand-Eyed Demon was quite smug: "You’re a smart man, not like those two cowards with wicked hearts and no guts. There’s no need to hide your desires, just say it, what do you want?"
"I want your territory in Hell!"
With his shocking words, Obu left the Thousand-Eyed Demon bewildered. After a moment, it burst into laughter: "So that’s it, you don’t want to enter the Goddess’ Divine Nation, too proud to serve them, that’s why you’ve always been reluctant to leave the God-chosen Continent, fine, that’s very free of you."
Obu said nothing; indeed, he harbored such thoughts—he had been the Royal Family’s dog and servant all his life and didn’t want to continue down the same road.
