Wayne, dressed in a white sleeveless vest and black trousers, stretched on the spot, warming up his muscles and sinews. Facing him was Veronica, like a mirror image, also in a white vest and black trousers.
Three days had passed since the incident of Chris being followed, and Wayne had been commuting to school by car every day since, without encountering any more Black Robes or sensing being watched by Philark.
It was strange; the opponent seemed to have suddenly given up.
Wayne didn’t understand why, but he pretended to believe he was being deceived into lowering his guard and refused to fall for it.
Not to mention, commuting to school every day and seeing the vibrant female college students had influenced him, making him feel much purer.
At night, Mona had already started to move on her own.
Every evening, Wayne checked in at Base No. 3. It didn’t matter what he did; the important thing was to let the Thousand-Eyed Demon know that he was hardworking and never absent from his post.
His daytime absence from the base was to conduct investigations, examining his friends and their friends, making use of this network to collect sixty-six bodies.
In fact, he did nothing; he outsourced all the work to the Heavenly Father’s Court.
One must admit, when a large organization takes action, it’s done with such ease that, had Wayne not held back, Mona could have delivered all sixty-six bodies in a single night.
The Thousand-Eyed Demon had gone dormant and invisible after its last appearance, true to its symbolic creature, the centipede, a millipede that hides in dark and damp environments and never exposes itself to the light.
The Devil’s caution was infuriating; one could only imagine the ambitious plots it harbored.
Wayne was a bit anxious, but not too much so. He ate and slept as usual. He did everything within his power, and if the Devil had any schemes, whether it truly wanted to destroy the world or not, that was for the Holy See to worry about.
Bravely, before the Archbishop received the intelligence, a report was already sitting on the Queen’s desk.
Uh, that was a bit too bold, after all, Windsor’s intelligence capabilities weren’t that exaggerated.
Veronica finished her warm-up, touched her fists together, and gestured with her fingers to beckon Wayne before he made any move.
Then, without waiting for Wayne to react, she charged like an arrow released from its bow, her heavy punch aimed straight at the face of the so-called social scum.
It’s not easy to learn good habits, but bad habits come naturally. Under Wayne’s guidance and example, she had begun to grasp the essence of stealth attacks.
Unexpectedness is key!
The edge of her fist was covered in a layer of fine scales, pushing the air to the sides and creating currents; as her fist passed through, the tremendous force tore open a white arc of light.
Wayne neither dodged nor ducked, blocking hard with his arm and sliding backwards, at the same time catching Veronica’s fist.
The two exchanged blows, their speed increasing at a rapid pace. Each shift and counter-move stirred up violent air currents.
Large amounts of white air currents appeared out of nowhere around them, quickly forming a localized hurricane, and in the twisted air, only the two pairs of black trousers could be seen colliding back and forth.
With a loud noise, Wayne was blasted out like a cannonball and slammed hard against the rear wall, raising a great cloud of dust with a dull rumble.
He shook his neck on the spot, his face calm and unfazed.
Wayne really enjoyed wrestling with Veronica and, by his account, he was actually fine either way, but Veronica liked it, and as the pretty boy of the Randao Family, he had to indulge her preferences.
This interaction was put to an end by Hefei.
The teacher allowed the student to spar with his daughter to develop their close combat skills with the goal of working hard together to make progress.
It wasn’t an invitation for the two to wrap their arms around each other and roll around on the ground!
What were they doing, taking this seriously, or romancing each other here!
Hefei scolded them and from then on, wrestling was vetoed, prohibited from occurring in the underground base.
Hefei also mandated that Wayne and Veronica’s daily interactions should aim primarily at enhancing the Essence of Life, ideally conducted in turns with no dodging allowed during the exchange of offense and defense.
In other words, one stood and took punches while the other attacked.
Once Wayne’s full potential was unearthed and Veronica strengthened through being hit, Hefei would personally teach them combat skills.
With her Dragon Blood, Veronica was the natural inheritor of Hefei’s mantle. After testing, Wayne was found to be greatly compatible with the teacher’s combat style, which he particularly favored.
After trying many times, he truly preferred fists over the Greatsword.
Unbeknownst to them, Hefei had already arrived at the edge of the training area, asking the Butler Megan, "How long have they been at it?"
"Master and Miss have been sparring for twenty minutes now; they still have ample energy to go through two more training sessions," Megan replied truthfully.
Hefei nodded silently, holding the blood test report in her hand, full of hope for the students’ future.
The report was out; Wayne was a pure-blooded human, all natural without any added ingredients.
To be wrestling with a Dragonblood Descendant, how could he possibly be human!
Hefei’s first reaction was disbelief; it simply couldn’t be true. Soon, however, she considered another possibility.
One couldn’t generalize about human constitutions. Ignoring the odd ones with special constitutions, modern humans differed significantly from the earliest humans who were said to be descendants of deities, created directly by gods with Protogenos Bloodline and unlimited potential.
With time, the Protogenos Bloodline diluted, potential locked away, making it difficult to break through the limits and return to origin without undergoing metamorphosis through Life Magic.
Like the Life Alliance, which integrates life magic from nature, the sun, and moonlight, making believers gradually resemble Elves in appearance.
Or the Heavenly Father’s Court, which has its own independent tradition of Life Magic, and with enough faith, transforming into an Angel is no longer a dream.
