Conversely, the Holy See couldn’t afford to lose even once.
Gunther had been an Archbishop for many years and his personality had matured, he wouldn’t be as fanatical as Artley, and to keep this fortress safe, he didn’t mind using some underhanded tactics.
There were priorities in all matters, and he knew what to do and when to do it, even if it meant collaborating with "Bruce."
That was the principle of being an Archbishop!
Wayne emerged from the sewer and arrived at Mona’s house as agreed.
Before coming, he had Ah Bin keep watch for three hours to confirm that Mona had returned home alone and there were no ambushes nearby.
This was good news for Wayne, but also bad news—his painstakingly crafted flirty looks were ignored by the Holy See.
"No wonder it fell into decline, with every one of you so rigid in thinking. You deserve to be suppressed..."
Wayne picked the lock, using two hairpins to open the villa’s door; seeing Mona sitting upright on the sofa, he sneered, "Knowing I was coming and still not opening the door, do you want a reward?"
Mona kept a stern face and refused to reply.
Wayne pursed his lips, slightly irritated, and tested, "It’s summer, why wear so much with a long coat and long pants? Take it all off, it’s irritating to look at."
Mona glared angrily, sensing the voice coming from the mental seal and reluctantly unfastened her coat and pants.
The underwear was pure white!
Wayne’s eyebrows shot up, even more disappointed, and if he wasn’t mistaken, he probably wouldn’t get the list he wanted either.
He glared at Mona, "All dressed up so fine, but such poor taste in underwear, how ugly. Go on, put on the stockings."
Mona silently put on the stockings, looking at the completely unguarded Wayne, she wished she could stab him with a sword.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t possible.
A mole had to be committed to their disguise; she was prepared to sacrifice everything.
"Did you bring the thing I wanted?" Wayne asked casually.
Mona took an envelope from the living room drawer and placed it in Wayne’s hands, who opened it and began inspecting its contents with a frown.
Not too many, not too few, just sixty-six!
Wayne inwardly gasped, staring intensely at the Mona before him, "What is your status within the Holy See? Tell the truth, don’t hide anything."
"Tactical Squad member, responsible for slaying the followers of devils," Mona said slowly to Wayne, word by word.
What are you staring at me for? I’m not the devil, just a mole that looks similar.
Wayne looked over the documents again; he could confirm that someone had received the intelligence he had sent out.
He took back what he said earlier; the Holy See had stood for a thousand years not without merit, they certainly had some substance, at least they weren’t lacking clever people.
While looking over the list, Wayne sneaked a glance at Mona, who was wearing only her underwear and stockings.
Pitiful, simply pitiful!
To be sure, those who played with Holy Light all had dirty hearts. To obtain intelligence, they willingly sacrificed a kind and honest person; he felt it despicable just watching it.
"It shouldn’t be, maybe I’m overthinking it."
Wayne put down the documents, wishing if possible that his collaborator would be as bright and righteous as himself, not using the moves of the devil to counteract the devil.
"Come here, sit on this."
Wayne patted his thigh, gesturing for Mona to sit close.
He could sense his thoughts still existed within Mona; he hoped the Holy See would show some backbone and not be bottomless just for a bit of intelligence.
Mona clenched her fists and with a stiff face sat on Wayne’s lap.

Wayne slapped her silky leg, looking at her expressionless profile; suddenly he found the situation amusing, as if he was teasing a modest woman—no, his point was, things were getting interesting.

Wayne dismissed the self-disrespecting nun, packed up the list, and then slapped the Alchemy Book on Mona’s chest: "Your second task, prepare the things listed in the Alchemy Book, I’ll come to collect them tomorrow."

Mona looked puzzled at Wayne, the Alchemy Book was such an important thing, how could he give it to her so easily?
