Long Xi leaned against the armrest, her draconic eyes dark with worry. Long Niu clutched a pillow tightly, her usual cheer gone. Long Qingxuan’s fingers dug into her knees, her mind racing.

The words hung in the air like a death sentence.
Long Niu’s voice was small. "If Sister Qianxue and the others were here... they might have had a plan."
A heavy silence followed. The loss was still raw. Yun Qianxue, the others—gone in an instant, erased from existence by Nian Shi’s hand. It felt unreal, even now.

She slumped into the chair behind the desk, rubbing her temples. Then, out of sheer restlessness, she pulled open the top drawer.
