CHAPTER 34

Elena got dressed in black as she stared at her reflection on the mirror.
"Do I look hot for a secret agent on a secret mission?" She asked her reflection as she waved off the thought with a shrug.
"Did i just say secret agent?" She laughed at how stupid she was getting.
She thought about taking one of her mom's gun, but then her mom was around, which meant it wasn'tt going to be possible.
She took her cell phone which was lying on the bed and inserted it inside her back pocket.
She walked out of her room and got to the dinning straight to her mom who was still finding it difficult to eat the cupcakes as she kissed her cheek.
"See you later mom"
"And where are you going? Dressed like that?" Her mom looked at her from head to toe.
"To Alex's" her mom shrugged.
'And you have to dress this hot?" Her mom asked and winked at her which made her smile.
"You think I'm hot?" She asked as her cheek flushed.
"Are you dating that kid? I thought you were dating Bryan?" Her mom asked as she huffed.
"I am not dating Alex and I broke up with Bryan already. No, he actually broke up with me"
"Oh, I'm so sorry. But you never told me about it"
"Probably because it happened so fast and I don't feel comfortable talking about it".
"Come on honey, you can talk to me about anything" her mom said walking up to her.
'Ok I will but definitely not now. I've got something to do" Elena stated as her mom patted her head.
"Ok, have fun " she walked out of the dining. Passing through the living room, she got to the exit door and walked out of the house.
Hailing a cab, she entered as the driver drove to Alex's apartment.
After paying the fare, she rushed inside the building.
"It's about time you know?" Laura said as they stared at her.
"Oh, I'm really sorry for coming late and.. Why the hell is everyone putting on black?" Elena observed as they checked out themselves seeing her observations were right.
"Not everyone, I'm putting on blue" Bonnie corrected as she stuck more popcorn to her mouth.
"By everyone, she doesn't mean you" Alex said curtly to Bonnie.
"So what am I now? Invincible or something?" She said walking to the fridge as she took a bottle of soda.
"You are not allowed to have that " Alex said walking up to her as he banged the fridge's door.
"Can I take coffee then?" She asked.
"No!" He said.
"Liquor?"
"Hell no!"
"Liqeuer?"
"Double no!"
"Ok, fine. I guess I can't take anything at all! And I'm damn thirsty" Bonnie said sitting down on the couch as her face fell.
"But you can take milk or water" Peter said handling her a bottle of water which she took with a smile.
"That's why i love you man" she said winking at him as he chuckled.
"So---?" Alex said referring to Elena after they've watched Bonnie's little drama.
"Yh right" she said sitting down as they all sat down near her except Bonnie who has handled the TV remote now and was changing the nickelodeon channel to TVC news.
"I got an information from my mom. I asked her why it was damn difficult for them to catch or stop the killer" Elena said and stared into their eyes Incase they wanted to contribute something to it.
"Yh, I thought of that too. If the trained cops can't stop this homicide, then who are we? We are just some bunch of high school teenagers who are sick in the head" Alex said with a shrug.
"Yh, right, but we have Sarah that sees the future. Which means we have an edge over them" Laura pointed out as they urged on Elena to continue.
"So, she told me the killer is an insider. He knows their every move even before they make them" Elena said making everyone dumpfounded except Bonnie who doesn't seem interested in their conversation.
"Whoa! This is bad" Peter said as Elena nodded.
"That's why they can never get a glimpse of him on the CCTV footages because he always temper with them" Laura observed.
"And guys, this killer knows every nooks and crannies of this town. He knows where the cops would always place the cameras" Elena pointed out
"Which means, the CCTV footages at the mall would be tempered with even before the homicide would occur" Peter said nodding his head.
"But the good news is, the killer doesn't know about us. Which means we stand a chance against him" Bonnie said walking up to them.
"Oh, I thought you weren't listening to our conversations" Alex said hysterically.
"I'm part of the team, so.. " she said showing him her palms making Elena and Laura laugh.
"So what should be done now?" Laura laid down the topic for discussion.
"I think we should place our own cameras too, since the killer doesn't know about us, he wouldn't know about our cameras" Peter suggested and they welcomed the idea immediately.
"And maybe when we get the footages, we would hand it over to the police" Alex suggested
"No, my mom thinks the council and some of the cops are corrupt. She doesn't trust anyone there. Taking it to the cops would only make them know about us, then the killer might trail us. We are dealing with a professional assassin here" Elena said doing the air quote.
"Elena is right. I think since we don't know much about the mall, and we don't know who is to be killed, I think placing the CCTV cameras in the mall and watching it from here would be the best. While some of us would be at the scene stopping the crime" Alex suggested as they agreed.
"So, where do we start from?" Laura asked.
"Start what?" Fay asked walking inside the sitting room as she banged the door before her.
They kept mute for a while as they gave each other a look.
"Start what?" She asked again making sure they heard her as she removed her shawl from her shoulders and placed on the couch.
"You didn't hear it clearly. I said where do I start from?" Bonnie said walking up to Fay as she hugged her.
The Freaks became perplexed immediately as they wondered what she was up to this time around.
"Start what?" Fay asked her as she gave a fake sniff.
"I don't know where I'll start apologizing to you. For not telling you before leaving school and you had to look for me and was worried too. I even lied to Alex about it so he wouldn't call you and ask. I'm so sorry, Fay. You're the best babysitter I could ever ask for" Bonnie said faking tears as Fay squatted and carried her up.
"Awwn, it's ok my little girl. It's ok. I'm not mad at you OK? I can never be mad at you" Fay said as Bonnie rested her head on her shoulders.
"Really? " Bonnie asked wiping off fake tears from her cheeks.
"Yh really" Fay said.
"Pinky promise?" Bonnie said sticking out her tiny pinky finger.
"Yh, pinky promise" Fay said sticking out her pinky finger too as Bonnie smiled and rested her head on Fay's shoulder.
"Can you please take me up stairs to my room? I feel sleepy" she lied.
"Oh yeah, sure" Fay said as she carried Bonnie upstairs.
"Oh My God!" Laura blurted out as she stared at Alex.
"Don't ask me! I don't know either" He said before Laura could ask her question.
"So now, Bonnie has lured her inside her room so we can have a private talk. That's good. But we can't have Fay here" Elena said.
"Yes. Maybe Alex would have to lure her away" Peter suggested.
"How am I supposed to do that without making her raise a suspicious brow?" Alex asked as he scattered his hair.
"I don't know. Just take her outside and tell her her eyes are beautiful" Laura said with a shrug as she brought out a bottle of soda from the fridge.
"No no no, that's lame. Just tell her you'll help look over Bonnie that she can go" Elena suggested.
"Ok, that's better" Laura said gulping down the soda.
They heard footsteps from the staircase as they stopped and glanced that way, seeing Fay climbing down from the stairs.
"Did you guys actually plan on going on black outfit today?" Fay asked observing their dress code.
"No no no, not at all, its a.. Its more like a coincidence" Alex said scratching his hair.
"Oh, I see" Fay said as Alex smiled as he admired her grey eyes and immediately, Laura gave him a *go on* look as he got the message and stopped flirting around.
"Emm, Fay, can I talk to you for a sec?" He asked as he held her shoulders.
"Oh, yh sure" she said as they both walked outside the house.
"Ok, let's get this party started!" Bonnie said walking down the stairs as Peter smiled.
