My Werewolf System Chapter 1411

Chapter 1407: Vision Under Moonlight Vision Under Moonlight Xin was willing to try anything, anything that could help the group in any way. So, following Tom’s suggestion, the group stepped out into the large garden behind the Howlers’ Manor. “The sprinklers are still active,” Tom assured them. “The entire area’s scent is masked. It’s safe.” They trusted him, and more importantly, they trusted that Xin’s foresight might offer them the edge they so desperately needed. The reason they came outside was simple, Xin needed to be under the moonlight. The energy, the connection, it had to be direct if she was going to attempt to harness the Luna’s power. She tilted her head up to the glowing orb above and took a long, steady breath. In truth, Xin had been struggling internally. With everything going on, regret had begun to fester in her heart. She had willingly given up her Altered powers, powers that had once made her incredibly strong. If she still had them, maybe she could have fought on the front lines. Maybe she could’ve helped Gary and the Howlers more directly in this critical moment. For the first time, she questioned her decision. Maybe Marie should have been the Luna instead. Maybe then they wouldn’t be in such a dire situation. It was exactly why this had to work. She needed this to work, not just for the others, but for herself. She had to be useful. “Well, Midwak, this is your department,” Park said, arms crossed. “You’re our Werewolf expert.” Midwak shifted uncomfortably. “I really don’t know that much,” he admitted. “I distanced myself from the Luna after she was chosen. And I’ve never been an Altered… but maybe you could think about it this way.” He looked at Xin. “When you had your Altered powers, you could use elemental abilities, right? That was separate from transforming your body. Maybe this is similar. Maybe what you’re trying to do now is access a power of your current form, something separate from the transformation.” Although Midwak thought his advice was basic, it triggered something in Xin’s mind. Accessing this ability was like activating a new part of her being. It reminded her of muscle control. At first, people struggle to move both arms independently, but with practice, it becomes second nature, no thought required. With a deep breath, Xin lowered herself onto the grass. She closed her eyes, sitting cross-legged beneath the stars. A different energy… something inside my body… Maybe I can feel the power of the moon, the way it interacts with me. If this ability is about foresight, seeing the future, then it has to stem from the mind… right? The others watched with anxious eyes. There was always the risk she could accidentally transform. If that happened, she would break the vow and the ritual, and no one could predict the consequences. If Gary were the one attempting this, they might have stopped him outright, especially considering what he could already do with Qi control. But Xin… she needed this moment. As the moonlight bathed her, a soft vibration passed through her body. Xin’s mind opened, and the moment she latched onto that energy, visions began flooding in. Rapid flashes of movement, emotions, smells, and sounds filled her head. It was chaotic, overwhelming, but everything seemed to connect. Her breathing quickened, and her body tensed. Then, just like that, it stopped. Her eyes snapped open. “Did it work?” Olivia asked, noticing Xin’s heavy breathing. “It did,” Xin panted, pushing herself to her feet. “But I don’t know what I saw… I need to piece it together.” Xin tried to understand what the vision meant. Was she seeing the battlefield? Or was it something tied only to herself? Was it her own future, or a glimpse of something greater? “The people,” Xin finally said. “Civilians… their bodies were clawed and covered in blood. They were just lying there on the street.” Kevin swallowed hard. “Wait… are you saying we lose the fight?” Tom, on the other hand, was focused on something else entirely. “Where did you see the bodies?” he asked quickly. Xin closed her eyes, remembering the vivid images. “Newton Street. The one with all the music shops. I recognized the area.” Tom frowned. “That doesn’t make sense. The fighting is happening on the outskirts of the town, near the park. That’s east. If the vision was of your future, why were you in that part of the city?” Park chimed in. “Can you tell what time the vision was? That might give us something to go on. If it was after sunrise, say, five a.m., maybe we just didn’t make it. But if it’s sooner, then maybe there’s still time to do something.” Xin didn’t need to re-access the vision. It was etched into her mind like a memory. “I saw a shop window with a clock. 1:30 a.m.,” she said. “Right now, it’s 1:10. That gives us twenty minutes.” “Then the question is…” Kevin said slowly. “What happens between now and then that takes us to Newton Street?” But what she was sure of, was the image of the bloody civilians. They weren’t Howler members. They were innocent people. And if she already knew what was about to happen, how could she just stand here and do nothing? “We need to make a decision,” Xin said, turning to the others. At the same time, somewhere in the dark streets of the city, Ghost had already entered Newton Street. He sniffed the air, sensing people hiding behind windows and inside shops. They had no idea what was coming. “The Howlers are this city’s protectors,” Ghost muttered. “I guess there’s one way to drag them out.” A wicked grin curled at the corners of his lips. “If I cause a little chaos.” For updates for MWS and future works, please follow me on my social media below.
