My Werewolf System Chapter 1396

Chapter 1395: Enter Slough (Part 2) The moment Luzen transformed, Innu was waiting for him to try and leap from the vehicle all the way to where they were. Or maybe he would run by the side of the road to catch up with the bike. After all, there were those that were incredibly fast, like Kai, who could keep up or even move faster than a motorcycle. Instead, Luzen continued to use his bow and fired from it without pause. Each time he pulled back the string, a spectral image of a wolf came flowing out from it, and the wolf began to run beside the bike, almost catching up. And it wasn’t just one, there were several of them now, forming a pack of glowing wolf-like energy beasts charging toward them. “Crap, I forgot the others said something about this! That’s what this guy can do, right?” Innu said, frustrated, as he quickly pulled out both of his axes. He threw one toward an incoming wolf. When the axe made contact, the spectral beast exploded into nothing but glowing energy particles. Another wolf leapt into the air, jaws open, and Innu swung the other axe right through its body, bursting it into a flicker of light. At the same time, the back of the bike wobbled slightly, the balance thrown off by Innu’s sudden movements and the energy released from the hit. “You need to be careful!” Austin shouted. “You used a lot of energy just now, and it could fling us off the bike!” Seeing this, Innu gritted his teeth and threw both of his axes again, fiercely smashing into two more of the spectral wolves. But it wasn’t going to stop them. The problem was, Luzen could simply fire another arrow and create even more of them. They were in a loop, and time was running out. “If we continue , he’s going to get us,” Innu said. “Or we’re going to slip and fall before we even reach Slough.” Innu’s eyes narrowed. “I have to do something.” “Austin, slow down!” Innu shouted. “I’m going to jump and deal with him!” “What!?” Austin shouted back. “What do you mean!? If you do that, the other werewolves will take you out as well. Don’t be stupid!” “I doubt they’ll care about me,” Innu responded, already steeling himself. “They’ll keep chasing you. I have a plan, don’t worry. That guy, Luzen, he’s clearly one of the big fish. If I can get him out of the picture, it’ll help us. And don’t worry, I’ll meet back up with you guys soon.” Austin didn’t want to do it. The thought of letting Innu jump into that chaos seemed reckless, but he could tell that, sooner or later, they were going to crash, or worse. So, against his better judgment, he slowed the bike just enough to give Innu a chance. Right then, when they were close enough to the car Luzen was riding on, Innu crouched, focused, and jumped. He leapt across the gap and landed right on the roof of the vehicle. Immediately, Innu threw one of his axes at Luzen, aiming directly for him. But just like before, Luzen twisted his body and avoided the strike. Launching himself forward, Innu closed the gap quickly and swung the second axe at Luzen’s midsection. Luzen stepped back, avoiding the slash, then spun his body as he heard a familiar sound, the axe returning. He managed to dodge again, just barely, and now Innu was standing tall with both axes in hand. He had expected Luzen to dodge the first strike, that had been part of the plan. Now armed with both weapons, Innu swung them down hard. Luzen lifted his bow and blocked both blows. The sheer force of the impact caused the roof to dent slightly beneath them, the metal groaning from the pressure. “You’re fast… strong… and you’ve got some kind of strange power on top of it,” Luzen said with a growl. “Are you sure you’re human?” Using his strength, Luzen tilted his bow, forcing both axes to slide off. One of them nearly slipped out of Innu’s hand, but this time, he held on tight. Unlike the phone he had dropped earlier, he had no intention of letting these go. The two of them exchanged rapid blows, their battle rough and fast-paced on the shaky roof of the speeding car. Innu swung his axes with controlled fury, trying to strike Luzen from any angle. But Luzen was nimble, either blocking with his bow or dodging with slick movements that seemed rehearsed. At one point, Luzen spun his body to avoid a strike, then retaliated with a powerful punch. But Innu was ready. He blocked and pressed forward. The two of them looked evenly matched, at least in the cramped space they were fighting in. “I didn’t know humans, aside from the Altered Hunters, could get this strong. I’m honestly impressed,” Luzen commented between breaths. “Right, the Altered Hunters,” Innu said. “Well, you’d be surprised to know, I was part of that attack too. It’s unfortunate you didn’t run into me then, because if you had, you wouldn’t be here now causing all this trouble!” Glancing at the road ahead, Innu noticed something important. The lanes had changed, from two to three. This was the last off-ramp, the final chance to divert into another part of Slough. He made his decision. Spinning one of the axes in his hand, Innu infused it with Qi. Then he hurled it down, directly into the roof beneath his feet. The axe sliced through the metal with ease and, just like before, struck the driver cleanly. The vehicle jolted. “What are you doing?!” Luzen shouted, bracing himself. “I’m taking us two away from the others!” Innu replied. Using his powers again, he turned the steering wheel sharply, and the car swerved violently, pulling away from the convoy and heading down a separate road. Just like that, the two of them had broken off from the rest of the fleet. It was just the two of them now, Innu and Luzen, on a different route, heading into another part of Slough.
