I DON'T WANT to breathe anymore and stay leaning on his shoulder. I want to hear the words he uttered, that even for a moment I will feel special to him but how can I believe those words when first of all I know he is only referring to work.
"I wish I could resign." I started, I barely moved away from him that he couldn’t resist. I also didn’t let him answer because I quickly amended what I said.
"I'll pay you, not just yet." I avoid his stares.
"You got to be kidding me." He just shook his head after grinning.
"I'm serious," I raised my voice because of his reaction.
"How many times do we have to argue this? I already said no, I won't accept your resignation," he replied. I feel like he was just holding back his anger when he said that to me.
"If you think I'll run–"
"Enough!" He refrained from what I had to say. I swallowed one after another because of the changes in his expression towards me.
"I want to pursue this dream for my father because this is what he wants for me, is that hard to understand?" We both stopped dancing and didn’t care if anyone heard us arguing.
"What are you asking for, if you knew the answer was no?!" He tilted his head at me so I could see a disapproval gaze in his eyes.
My tongue was completely numb. My knees trembled with fear. The heavy anger wracked against my chest. I can't think straight now I can't find the right word for him.
I tried to meet his gaze but I couldn't. I feel like I'm drowning. Even if I insist on what I want, I won't win.
"Let's settled this argument like an adult."
He cleared me completely after holding my hand tightly. I was shocked when he pulled me away from the ballroom. I wanted to stop him but I did nothing because of the possible consequences.
I just bowed my head and passed the crowd because of the flash of the press camera.
We end up crashing into his car. Everything happened so fast, I just realized that I was already riding in his car while he was holding the steering wheel tightly.
"Rex, slow down!" I stopped his fast pace but it didn't listen, he even stepped on the gas so we ran even faster.
"Damned you, Rex! Can you slow the fuck down?!" I shout with rage.
But he had no answer. He just kept driving. I could do nothing but hold on to my senses while leaning back in the seat. I let him do what he wants, It doesn't make any sense if I still lose even though I won't win.
When the car stopped, I got out without warning and slammed the door shut. I looked up at his condominium building that I also hadn’t visited in months.
"Let's get inside." He grabs my wrist again to guide me inside. We didn't notice anything since we took the elevator, even when we got inside his condo.
I couldn't help but look around the familiar place. It was clean and neat as always, almost nothing was new in the place. The furniture was perfectly in place in every corner of this room. The paintings and his portrait are still there
I sat down on the couch and patted my side before leaning back. It's nice to be back here... I miss the scent of this house, the smell is imported. I couldn't help but close my eyes and feel the surroundings.
I turned around when I heard the door close from nearby, I narrowed my eyes. I didn't notice that I was asleep because I was so tired.
"If you sleep there you'll be in the other room, he said as he passed me to head to the kitchen.
I could smell the after-shave and shower gel that stuck in my nose, even the scented perfume that he always uses. I couldn't help but gasp as passed in front of me again.
I also couldn't help but look at him wearing his white shirt and black shorts. I was bitten on the lip. His attire is kinda new to me. I more often see him in his semi-formal attire even though once I see his half-naked body... it still feels different now.
But I was shocked when he stopped in front of me and stared into my eyes.
"Just go out of the shower. Want to come to help me dry off?" He leaned over me as the towel wiped his wet hair.
"You pervert!" I narrowed my eyes at him before suddenly standing up.
The smirk grew over his face, then he tilted his head upwards and suddenly he burst out laughing,
I was alarmed when he lowered his hands and stepped closer to me. Fast forward to the second he was in front of me now so I couldn't breathe. His towel is still on the top of his head that gives a rayless look to his magnificent face.
I quickly dodged and backed away but I just fell again and I sat down on the couch. He also quickly bowed to me and firmly held the couch on both sides of me.
"I'm a pervert but romantically," he spoke in a soft tone voice. His gaze also dropped to my lips that I couldn't stop biting due to nervousness.
"I may be a gentleman, but if you keep looking at me like that, biting your lip, then don't expect me to be gentle with you," he whispered huskily, he gently stroked my cheek as if he was already on fire with too much heat.
Damn, Cherry, do something! I hold back the emotion that rises in me. But before I could do that I saw the staining of his eyes on me.
"I don't know what it is about you, that makes me–" but he didn't continue his word. He swallowed first before he stopped and move closer in front of me.
I was just dumbfounded by what he said, I needed a few more minutes before I was able to position myself in front of him.
"I like teasing you because I could see how much you want me," he said again after giving away his seductive smile.
