TWO WEEKS passed swiftly after I got back from New York.
I’m not staying home, even though I’ve already filed a resignation letter with Nicholas ’office. I frequent Calixto’s Bar and Restaurant and sleeps in Jacky's home sometimes.
I didn't hear anything from Rex after that fashion show in New York. I also didn't have a chance to explain to him that kissed because they said he was still in Europe for their world tour.
I tried to follow his track but I couldn’t talk to him due to his tight security. I think he was just avoiding me so I decided to come back here and wait.
"How many more do you have?"
I looked up at Calixto who was in front of me at the Bar. He shouldn't be the one in the bar but since I'm here for the fourth time, he's the one who confronted me.
"Why are you asking me?" I smiled at him after I dropped the brandy I was drinking in front of him.
"I called Jacky, she's on her way." He poured the wine into the glass again, but instead of giving it to me, he drank it.
"You're trick, you know that!" I said with a smirk.
Hd shook his head before smiling and refilled the glass and laid it in front of me.
"Thanks," I murmured. I can’t help but stare at him. He changed a lot more than when I saw him last time.
"Finish that, later the media will fill the outside of my bar again," he said without removing the smile from his lips.
"Isn't great? Your bar is famous? You should be thanking me enough!" I grinned at him after consuming the contents of the glass.
He pinched my forehead like he used to do to me, so I frowned at him.
He bent down and placed both arms on the table to keep our eyes aligned.
"You look so different now, Cherry. I'm so proud of how you achieved your dreams."
"And, thank you for breaking my heart–twice." I change the pronunciation.
He laughed in front of me then shook his head, "The truth is, I like you a lot. It just didn't work." He confessed.
I clenched my teeth, "Liar..." I stared at him with furrowed brows.
I know he is telling the truth. He just doesn't like it because he already has a girlfriend.
"But you found someone better than me right?"
I messed up my hair like a child. So I pouted my lips, and my eyes were already pooled with tears. Why can't I stop being emotional when it comes to Rexon?
"I told you, don't cry anymore, it's just a boy. You can move on too."
I bit my lower lip and sniffed. If only it were that easy. He can only say this because he is happy with his married life and children but he does not know how painful it is to rely on the uncertain.
"We're still engaged! Why would I do that, huh? Tell me?" I break into tears.
"I told you, he's just busy. Just wait and when he's ready. Talk to him and told him you want to marry him." He chuckled.
My shoulders shook from crying uncontrollably. It’s funny that I’m still running to him and asking for advice, to the man who first broke my heart.
"I heard that the logistics are in Greece now and they have their last tour this week in Europe — before flying to the Middle East.
I shook my head. Fuck! The Middle East! Did I think they would go home to the Philippines after that?
"I am going home!" Suddenly I stood up and turned my back on him.
"Cherry, wait!" He chased me but I quickly got out of such a bar. And the variety of camera lights greeted me which stopped me from walking.
"Cherry, go back inside." I felt Calixto's hand on my arm.
But I pinched it, "No, I need to go home."
I walked out of the bar and was greeted by reporters.
"Miss Cherry, is it true the news that you and vocalist Rexon Del 'Torre are separated because it's your manager Nicholas Galvez?"
I covered my face and backed away. To this day what happened at Victoria’s Secret fashion show in New York is still fresh to them. Rexon's camp as well as T-shirt and Glam have not yet stated on the issue.
They also didn't know that I had resigned from Nicholas because it had not been officially signed by the latter.
"Excuse me!" I said and walked away from them.
Because they were eager and want some scoop they followed me until I reached my car.
"Is it also true that Rexon offered you marriage but you refused because you preferred Nicholas?"
I stopped and faced them. Where did they hear such a rumor?
"We're not breaking up. Are you happy now?!"
"Hey, then why are you kissing Nicholas when you're still with Rexon?!" Voices from some paparazzi in the back.
My eloquence was interrupted when someone took my hand. I slowly looked up and grinned at him bitterly.
"Nicholas!" I spout out his name.
"Get in your car!" he commands.
If I don't follow him. We might even be questioned and he might only increase the issue with us so even though I don't want to, I did what he told me to do. Along the way, I was just quiet. I even noticed that the road was going in a different direction.
"How long will you ignoring my calls?"
I remain silent and just ignored him.
"Damn It!" He hit the steering wheel. But I didn't move, my arms tightened as I sat down.
Until we reached his office. With no intention of going down, I was forced to end it all.
We went up to his penthouse, even before I sat down he presented me with the resignation letter that I sent a week ago.
"What is this, huh?" he uttered in a hard voice.
"I won't accept this resignation." He tore in front of me the paper he pulled out of the envelope.
"I don't care if you won't accept it. We're done, Nick!"
He grinned and shook his head at me, "Are you just going to throw away your career? Everything you've worked so hard for? You're still under my contract, you can't just back down!"
"I don't care! I'm not afraid of losing everything to me. And I'm willing to pay a penalty charge for breaching my contract," I said straight and clear.
"Just all because of him, huh? What can you gain from that cheater? Where is he, huh? He's with someone else right now. If that idiot loves you where is he?"
I swallowed and couldn't answer. Did I turn around to go out but I was stunned by the last thing he said.
"I planned that kiss. I did it because I wanted to prove something. And now I know the answer to all my questions."
"And now, you know maybe the answer?" I couldn't wait for what he would say because I turned the door close and left his building.
