The Dragon King’s golden eyes burned hotter. His aura lashed outward, shaking the balcony under his feet. "You dare lecture me, children?" His voice thundered, rolling across the city. "You, who crawl here on borrowed flames and fractured space?"
Karl laughed. It was rough, hoarse, but real. He tilted his head back, his grin wide. "Listen to him. Still pretending he’s untouchable. Still wearing that calm." His claws flexed, fire dripping from them like molten steel. "But your calm dies here, father."
The word cracked like a whip. Father.
The Dragon King flinched, his teeth bared, his voice a growl. "You are no son of mine."

The siblings stopped, standing shoulder to shoulder with Karl. Three shadows rising in the fire. The ruins of the capital stretched behind them, the throne towers cracked above, and Kaelis still burned in the sky, a silent promise of what was coming.
