My ‘Healing’ Game Chapter 84

The chill from the ring surged like a tide as soon as Han Fei ducked into room 1084 and immediately shut the door behind him. "The noise first started on the ninth floor, that ghost lives on the ninth floor!" Leaning against the room door, Han Fei found himself in a very dangerous situation. The eighth floor was different from the sixth, these few rooms hid particularly terrifying things. The ghost in the room could appear at any moment, and the door was blocked by that monster outside, causing Han Fei’s heartbeat to uncontrollably start to quicken. "If it really comes down to it, I’ll just have to log off." Feeling the icy cold on his fingers, Han Fei slowly squatted down, carefully surveying room 1084. The room had been renovated, furnished with some rather upscale furniture; one of the bedrooms had an expensive piano, and another bedroom was decorated like a princess’s room, dominated by pink hues, with lots of cute rag dolls on the bed and the floor. Just looking at these seemed not at all scary, but for some reason, Han Fei felt extremely uncomfortable all over. "I remember Meng Shi mentioning that the Building Chief warned her not to go to the eighth floor on a whim." After waiting for a long time, the chill on Han Fei’s fingers gradually faded, and he adjusted his breathing, slowly leaning towards the peephole. Pressing against the security door, Han Fei looked out; the peephole of room 1084 seemed to be blocked by something, with some red and black impurities. He carefully adjusted the angle, looking closely, but the impurities in the peephole just happened to obstruct the view. "Who smeared blood on the peephole?" Han Fei was contemplating when the red impurity suddenly flipped like a ping-pong ball pressed under water, revealing another side. A pitch-black pupil was stuck in the peephole, an eyeball threaded with blood silk blinked lightly. "An eye in the peephole?!" Han Fei immediately retreated, unable to imagine that he had just made eye contact with that eyeball from such a close distance. "I only went to look after the chill on the ring had dissipated, by which time the ghost from the ninth floor had already left, so the eyeball in the peephole wasn’t his." Han Fei felt it was unsafe to stay here any longer, the discomfort growing more and more intense. He reached for the door lock, and when he tried to forcefully open the door, he suddenly found that the security door wouldn’t budge! "It’s not locked, so why can’t it be opened?" A massive fear descended in an instant, and Han Fei knew he was being watched. "If this door won’t open, even if I exit the game now, I’ll still log back into this room next time. Without the trump card of logging off, I might be even more passive." Clenching his teeth, Han Fei was not one to give up easily, else he wouldn’t have survived until now. Looking at that terrifying peephole, Han Fei did something most people wouldn’t even consider doing. He once again leaned against the door, looking into the peephole. To defeat the enemy, he had to first understand it, he was determined to uncover exactly what kind of ghost was hiding in room 1084 on the eighth floor. Knowing full well there was an eyeball in the peephole, Han Fei went closer to continue observing, hoping to find answers within that eyeball. Although Han Fei had braced himself for a stare-down with the other side, when he approached again, the eyeball had disappeared. "The door remained locked, but the eyes were gone." Without acting rashly, Han Fei stood by the door, using his exceptional memory to memorize the location of all the furniture and items in the room. "I didn’t see any memorial portraits, Talisman Paper, or Spiritual Altar-like items; there also wasn’t any bloodstains or obviously abnormal things in the room. If I had to point out something strange, it would be the numerous Rag Dolls here." Some of those Rag Dolls were placed on the bed, some carelessly thrown on the floor, and some were torn, exposing the yellowed stuffing from their bellies. "Could a Ghost be residing within these Rag Dolls?" Han Fei did not dislike Rag Dolls, but under the current circumstances, he felt a fear towards anything humanoid. "Drip, drip, drip..." In the dead silence, the sound of water droplets suddenly began, and Han Fei followed the sound to see that the bathroom faucet was dripping. "When I came in just now, the faucet was fine." He slowly moved to the bathroom door, checking the mirror and shower corner before going in—these places were the most likely to hide a Dark Soul. "Could it be the faucet wasn’t turned off tight enough?" Han Fei twisted the knob, only to find that the faucet wasn’t just loose, but hadn’t been closed at all: "The faucet is clearly open, but why isn’t there any water flowing? Is it blocked by something?" As he bent down to take a closer look, a blood-streaked eyeball slipped out from the faucet and was flushed down the drain by the water. Everything happened too fast, and Han Fei hadn’t even had time to react. "Was it an eyeball that blocked the pipe?" He was very close to the faucet just now, and when the eyeball slipped out, it seemed its pupil slightly moved, as if it glanced at him. "What is going on with this room?" Han Fei finally understood why he had been feeling that uncomfortable sensation, it was as if, at this very moment, countless eyes were watching him. Goosebumps rose on the back of his neck, and Han Fei felt panicked, but he did not show any sign of fear on the surface, because he knew that being afraid would not change anything. Slowly leaving the bathroom where the Dark Energy was dense, Han Fei walked over to the living room coffee table and picked up a fruit knife from the table. "The system can identify Special Items I come into contact with, so the next time that eyeball appears, I’ll see if I can find a way to touch it." Han Fei was driven to a dead end, which is why he thought of such an extremely risky method. With the door locked and no way out, he had no choice but to start looking for clues inside the room. After quickly checking the living room, Han Fei went to the bedroom door. Looking at the Princess Room full of Rag Dolls scattered across the floor, he really didn’t have the courage to enter; he was afraid that the dolls would suddenly come to life and all pounce on him. Avoiding the Princess Room, Han Fei went to the door of another bedroom. This bedroom was filled with numerous objects, including a piano, bookcase, and a single bed, and the walls were covered with various kinds of paintings. "Something’s not right." As Han Fei’s gaze swept through the room, he noticed a pillow placed under the single bed as if someone often hid underneath it. Gripping the fruit knife tightly, Han Fei entered the bedroom, bent down to reach for the pillow under the bed, and suddenly noticed many nail-scratching marks along the edge of the bed plank. He followed the scratch marks and slowly put his head under the bed, only to unexpectedly find the bottom of the bed plank densely covered with the same sentence—"It’s watching me!"
