My five ghostly husbands Chapter 89

"How am I looking?" Kalelan asked, tugging at the edge of his white robe with its pretty golden borders. His eyes gleamed with confidence, and a faint smile played on his lips. His features were almost unfairly perfect, like he’d stepped out of a painting. "Great," Roman replied, forcing a big grin to cover the flicker of envy gnawing at him. Kalelan laughed. "I know, right?" he said, brushing back a strand of his golden hair as he walked out of the room. Roman followed quietly, his emotions tucked away where no one could see. Outside, the Victorian car waiting for them. Kalelan climbed in smoothly, his movements effortlessly elegant. Roman slid in beside him, barely glancing up as Kalelan signaled the driver. The car rose into the sky, gliding through the fading light of evening. Kalelan gazed out the window, the beautiful colors of the sunset painting the clouds in shades of gold and crimson. He wasn’t paying attention to any of it, though. His mind was on her. The thought of seeing her made his heart race. He leaned back, letting out a breath as he tried to compose himself. When they reached the restaurant, the evening had deepened into a surreal night. Roman walked him to the private room, then left with a curt nod, leaving Kalelan to wait. He sat alone at the table, fingers drumming against the polished wood. His eyes wandered to the window, drawn to the Nature beauty outside. The moon was massive, glowing brightly against a blood-red sky. Mist pooled across the ground, making everything look mysteriously beautiful. The sound of approaching footsteps made him freeze. His pulse quickened, and he cursed himself for being so obvious. He already knew what he was about to see—those crimson eyes that seemed to ensnare the very strings of his heart. "I heard you wanted to meet me privately?" came a voice from behind. Ruby was dropped back home by the same witch workers who had picked her up earlier. This time, they didn’t just bring her back; they brought along an load of snacks and a computer she had been tasked with recovering data from. The neighbors, hearing the sound of the car landing, stepped outside to see what was going on. They froze in shock when they saw government workers helping Ruby unload a computer and other items. It was an unusual sight in their quiet village—government witches assisting someone like Ruby, of all people. Two worker witches carefully carried the computer parts: one with the CPU and the other balancing the monitor, mouse, and keyboard. Ruby held a gift box and the large bundle of snacks they had given her as thanks. Together, they placed everything neatly near the door of Ruby’s house. Once everything was set, Ruby stepped forward and rang the doorbell, balancing the snacks in one hand. The sun was already setting, casting a warm orange glow over the scene. A few minutes later, the door creaked open. He blinked, his baby-blue eyes going wide as he took in the sight of Ruby standing there, the witches beside her, and the computer parts and snacks on the ground. "What is this?" he asked, his voice laced with confusion. Ruby raised an eyebrow. "What? Aren’t you going to help me bring these inside?" Karl snapped out of his daze and quickly stepped aside to let Ruby in. As she entered, the two witches followed behind her, carefully holding the computer parts. The witches glanced at Karl, nodding at him with polite smiles. When Julian and Milo came there, their faces full of confusion, the witches nodded at them too, offering the same polite courtesy. "Miss Ruby, where should we put the computer?" asked the taller witch, balancing the monitor and mouse. "In my room," Ruby replied smoothly, already taking the lead. She paused and turned slightly, glancing at Julian. "Julian, please prepare a glass of water for them." Julian blinked, startled by the sudden request, but nodded obediently. "Uh... sure." He exchanged a confused look with Karl. Without hesitation, Ruby guided the witches toward her room. Milo, wide-eyed and curious, quickly trotted after her like a loyal puppy, eager to see what was happening. In her room Ruby asked them to put computer on her table she looked and made sure process is still on,She nodded at them. "Wife what is this.." he looked computer, and asked, he never seen computer closely, he only seen it in some big shop however he don’t know why people use it. Milo’s curious eyes fixated on the computer. He leaned closer, cautiously poking at the monitor with a finger before pulling back as if it might bite. "Wife, what is this?" he asked, his voice filled with genuine wonder. "I’ve seen these in big shops before, but I’ve never seen one up close. What do people even use it for?" "It’s called a computer, Milo," she explained. "People use it for all sorts of things—work, finding information, communicating with others... even entertainment and much more." Milo blinked, clearly overwhelmed by the list. The taller witch, who was connecting the cables, chuckled softly at Milo’s innocence. "It can do all that and more. But only if you know how to use it properly." Milo’s face scrunched up in concentration. "Properly? Like... it has rules? Do I need to be careful with it? What if I press the wrong button?" Ruby raised a brow, trying not to laugh at his endless questions. "Milo, it’s not going to explode if you touch it. It’s just a machine. But if you don’t know what you’re doing, you could break it." "Okay, wife, I understand," Milo said, nodding as if making a serious commitment. Then his curiosity got the better of him again, and he asked, "But... do you know how to use it?" Ruby nodded her head and Before she could answer, the taller witch, who was finishing up the setup, spoke with admiration in her voice. "Oh, she knows better than us," she said, glancing at Milo with a smile. "Your wife even helped us when we were facing a major problem with it. She solved something we couldn’t figure out." —To be continued...🪄
