Milo looked around at all the beds, his expression thoughtful, when suddenly the sweet ghost salesperson was called away by his boss. "Sorry, I have to go, but please take a look until I come back," he said with an apologetic look on his face. Ruby nodded in understanding, eager to explore the options.
"Which one do you like?" she asked again, glancing at Milo and Julian as she moved closer to the assortment of beds.
Milo’s gaze lingered for a moment before he shyly pointed at the grave bed. Ruby was taken aback; she didn’t expect him to choose such a dark, morbid option given his Sweet personality.
However, it’s not surprising that a grave bed is considered a luxury in this world.
"Really?" she asked, her eyes wide with surprise. "You want the grave bed?"
Milo nodded, his cheeks flushing a deep red. "I just... I think it looks good," he stammered, his shyness evident as he glanced away from her intense gaze.
"It’s fine... we have three rooms," Ruby said, glancing between them. "We can put the grave bed in your room, Milo. Anyway, who are you planning to sleep with? We’ve got three bedrooms, so two people can share two of the beds, and I’ll take the third room."
Milo looked taken aback, a bit of sadness crossing his face. "Wife, are you not planning to sleep with us?"
Ruby gave a small laugh, trying to keep things light. "Silly... just because I’m sleeping alone doesn’t mean you can’t come to my room whenever you want. You’re always welcome."
Julian, standing quietly by, looked down at his feet, blushing a little. "Can I... also?" he asked shyly, almost too embarrassed to lift his eyes to hers.
Ruby was surprised by the question. She had honestly thought she might divorce three of them at some point, expect Milo, who seemed to be the closest to her. But seeing Julian , she hadn’t expected him to warm up to her so quickly. After a pause, she nodded with a smile. "Of course, Julian."
Relief and a bit of excitement flashed across both their faces, and Ruby felt a small sense of warmth. Maybe things were turning out differently than she had anticipated.
"Alright," Ruby said, changing the topic back to the beds. "Milo, you get your grave bed. And I love this cloud bed, plus the moon bed looks really pretty. Let’s keep looking through everything and make sure we’re picking the right ones."
"Wife, you like the cloud bed..." Milo said, running his hand over the soft, cloud-like mattress. He’d already taken a liking to it, but knowing Ruby liked it too made it even better. "Can I... can I sit on it?" he asked, his voice shy but his eyes hopeful.
Ruby chuckled and nodded. "Of course! Try it out. If we like it, we’ll definitely buy it."
Milo’s face lit up with excitement. Carefully, he lowered himself onto the bed. But as soon as he sat down, he realized the "cloud" name wasn’t an exaggeration—it was so soft and bouncy that his body bounced slightly, and before he knew it, he rolled over with wide eyes.
He tried to sit up, but the bed was so soft it felt like he was sinking into a cloud. Each attempt to steady himself only made him bounce and roll around more.
Just as he managed to get onto his knees, the ghost salesperson returned, taking in the sight of Milo struggling on the bed. Milo froze, his cheeks turning a deep shade of pink as he looked up, feeling like he was dying of embarrassment. He wished he could just disappear right into the bed.
Ruby covered her mouth to hide her laughter, while Julian stifled a grin beside her.
The ghost salesperson smiled politely, pretending not to notice Milo’s predicament. "I see you’re testing out the cloud bed! It’s a good choice for comfort," he said smoothly, but the sparkle in his eyes gave away his amusement.
Milo finally managed to sit up, his face still red. "Y-Yes, very comfortable..." he mumbled, desperately trying to regain his composure.
Ruby helped Milo off the bed, still laughing softly as he tried to hide his embarrassment. He slipped behind her, gripping the edge of her robe like a shy child, clearly flustered from the whole experience.
The ghost salesperson noticed and smiled kindly, trying to ease Milo’s embarrassment. "Ah, don’t worry! Cloud beds are designed exactly for that softness and bounce," he explained warmly. "They’re made with special, feather-light materials that create a natural, calming effect on the body. The unique fabric can relieve muscle tension, while the gentle bounce and softness give a sensation similar to a light massage."
He leaned in a bit, adding with a grin, "The bed’s structure actually works like a cloud simulator, almost as if you’re floating. People say it’s very therapeutic, especially for those who carry stress or tension. It’s like your body’s tension just melts away."
Milo’s eyes widened a bit as he listened, and a shy smile appeared on his face. "That... sounds nice," he mumbled, still clutching Ruby’s sleeve but clearly more at ease.
Ruby chuckled, giving Milo a reassuring pat on the back. "See, it’s not embarrassing at all. This bed’s just doing what it’s meant to do—help you relax."
Ruby really liked this bed too; she could already imagine herself sinking into it after a long, tiring day. A bed would be the perfect spot to unwind, especially for someone who’s always on the go. She thought about how stiff mattresses often led to aches and sore muscles, but this cloud bed seemed like the exact opposite—a soft, comforting space that could help her truly relax.
"I’m buying this one for myself," Ruby announced with a satisfied smile, patting the cloud bed. Then, she turned to Julian. "You can take your time and pick one you like. Look at everything carefully... no rush," she added.
The ghost salesperson, eager to help, chimed in, "And if nothing feels right, we have even more options!"
Ruby nodded and gave him a grateful smile, appreciating his enthusiasm.
After some browsing, Ruby finalized her choices. She’d keep the cloud bed for herself.
Milo decided on the grave bed—surprisingly, both he and Julian liked it.
