Chapter 227 Waking Up the Beast Inside
"Ouch!" Veronica Parker frowned and cleared her throat. She felt sore and her voice was hoarse.
After she took a quick bath, she put on some clothes and went downstairs.
Nick Cage was still asleep at that time.
Veronica Parker went straight outside the door.
Bob had stopped her and he asked hurriedly, "Miss Parker, are you going to leave?"
Veronica Parker said, "Mister Cage allowed me to go out today." She coughed to clear her sore throat.
"But I didn't get a notice from Mister Cage," Bob said.
"Why will I lie to you?"
"I'm sorry if I just let you go Miss Parker then Mr. Cage will get angry at me," Bob felt very embarrassed. "Maybe you can wait until Mister Cage wakes up before you leave?"
"When will he wake up? I'm leaving now. It was not the time for him to go to work yet so he would probably wake up later. I do not want to wait until the afternoon," Veronica Parker said feeling disgruntled.
"Miss Parker, even if I let you go, the bodyguards outside won't let you go without Mister Cage's approval," Bob said.
Veronica Parker felt very depressed as she let out her anger in her thoughts, 'Why can't just Nick Cage tell them in advance that she was allowed to leave before he went back to his room last night?'
"Miss Parker, why don't you have some breakfast first?"
" Can you get me some water to drink? I have a sore throat. "
"Sure," Bob turned and ordered a servant to get a glass of water.
Veronica Parker drank the water and until her throat was moistened. After a few gulps of the liquid, she started to feel much more comfortable.
She could not wait to go out of the Winter Villa, she cursed the sleeping man in her head, 'Nick Cage was definitely a monster! He was a beast!'
Veronica Parker had finished eating breakfast and she sat on the sofa without much else to do but to watch the time passed by. She waited impatiently for Nick Cage to wake up.
Nick Cage won't wake up until 09:30 am.
Did she really have to wait until 09:30 in the morning?
Her patience was slowly thinning. She could not wait that long.
Veronica Parker hesitated for a few minutes before she decided to go upstairs.
She crept into Nick Cage's bedroom.
She saw that the man who was sleeping on the bed still felt dangerous. He was like a sleeping beast who was ready to fight back at any time.
Veronica Parker entered the door; she held her breath and stood by the foot of the bed. She looked at the man's face. What should she do? He was always angry after he gets up. If she wakes him up without so much care she was afraid that Nick Cage would not let her get out of Winter Villa.
Veronica Parker wanted to make sure how soundly Nick Cage slept so he leaned closer to him and tried to slightly touch his face.
She thought about how people from the King Group would never have expected that the person in charge would not go to the company in the morning just to order sleep in until the afternoon.
That face, whether it was seen from a distance or up-close remained handsome. He got that modern face, his jaws were sharply chiseled and his sleeping face did not have a hint of being angry and arrogant.
Unfortunately, his character was too terrible.
Just as Veronica Parker was gazing at his face and slightly touching his cheeks. Nick Cage's eyes flutter and it suddenly opened.
Veronica Parker froze in fear; she stared blankly into his sharp black eyes with her fingers still an inch close to his face. He quickly grabbed her wrist and they suddenly switched positions.
Veronica Parker was frightened and screaming, by the next second she fell on the bed, and the body of Nick Cage was on top of her as he enveloped her with his arms.
"Why are you touching my face?"
Veronica Parker's head felt dizzy and she hurriedly explained, "I did not touch you because I wanted to. I just want to see if you would wake up."
"Should we continue what happened last night?" Nick Cage squints his dark eyes, which made him look dangerous and intimidating.
"No, calm down! I just wanted to wake you up. I didn't want to do anything else! I wanted to leave early that's why I'm here to see if you are already awake!" she said hysterically, she wanted to remain calm but he was testing her patience. But of course, she must careful, after all, she was dealing with Nick Cage.
Nick Cage didn't speak. His black eyes stared at her for a moment.
Veronica Parker's body was still under Nick Cage's arms, half of her body is pressing on her.
Why wouldn't he move?
"Mister Cage."
"Don't wake me up again," He said sternly.
Veronica Parker was speechless. She bit her lips when Nick Cage didn't speak further. He turned his face and buried his head into the pillow.
