Chapter 208 If Only We Could Turn Back Time
Toby Cage remained motionless and stayed with her quietly.
Veronica Parker didn't sleep soundly and felt as if she was leaning on somebody.
She opened her eyes and looked up, just as Toby Cage bowed his head.
Veronica Parker's face rubbed against Toby Cage's thin lips.
Her heartbeat was out of control and his body froze.
He passionately looked at her and did not even try to move an inch away from her. Their faces were too close to each other.
Veronica could already feel his breath on her face. He drew his face closer and closer to her until she couldn't see him clearly anymore.
She could hear her chest pounding. Her heart was beating faster and it felt as if she couldn't breathe anymore.
He parted his lips and was about to kiss her. But she suddenly felt frightened and moved her face away from him. He shoved him away and moved a little farther from him. Then she stood up and said, "I should go now."
"Veronica." Toby Cage got up and called her.
Veronica Parker's body froze and she just stood there. She didn't look back. With the hot bag she was still holding, she clutched it and tried to contain her emotions. Toby Cage came forward, hugged her from behind, and whispered in her ear, "Are you afraid of me?"
Veronica Parker was not afraid of Toby Cage. She was more afraid of Nick Cage and the possibility of Suzanne Roland seeing them together. "Why are you afraid of me?" Toby Cage asked.
Veronica Parker restrained him and pushed him away. "I'm not afraid of you if that's what you think. I just think it's not good for us to do this. I have broken up with you a long time ago. And you are now in a relationship with Suzanne. This has nothing to do with me being afraid of you." Veronica Parker explained. . "
Toby Cage walked towards Veronica Parker, looked at her then asked, "What if I'm not Suzanne's boyfriend? Do I still have the chance to be with you again? Can we still be together?" Veronica Parker looked at him blankly. She couldn't understand anything. He just made things too complicated. Her eyes reflected so much confusion. She bowed her head and responded, "Please don't ask me those questions. We called off our relationship already. Everything's over between the two of us. It's--It's impossible!"
With that, she turned and ran.
"Veronica!"
Veronica Parker didn't hear Toby Cage call her. She opened the door and rushed out.
But unexpectedly, someone came and bumped into her.
Veronica Parker did not see the person clearly. But she felt that she bumped into somebody."I'm sorry." She uttered then looked up.
Her eyes grew bigger and she was stunned by what she saw. She took a few steps back. There she saw him. She bumped into Nick Cage.
Veronica Parker looked at the long and straight face of Nick Cage. Her dark eyes stared at him with so much panic. She wanted to cry in disbelief. Why of all people, it had to be Nick Cage?
Toby Cage came out of the room rushing to follow Veronica Park. When Nick Cage saw him, he assumed that he understood what was going on and his eyes went from surprised to furious. Toby Cage was also stunned to see Nick Cage in front of them.
"Nick, what are you doing here?" Veronica Parker asked. She never thought that Nick Cage would show up. She shuddered slightly. Nick Cage's eyes were full of rage.
Upon seeing that, Veronica Parker felt sick again.
Nick Cage moved towards Veronica Parker and grabbed her by her arm. They turned around and were about to leave Toby Cage.
"Hey Nick, it's not what you think. Let me explain what happened." Toby Cage wanted to talk to Nick Cage but he immediately got upset with what he saw.
"This is between Veronica and me. Better not involve yourself on this matter. Mind your own business.." Nick Cage angrily responded.
When Nick Cage said this, Toby Cage kept looking at Veronica Parker and got worried. He knew she wasn't feeling well and this was not the perfect time for Nick Cage to drag her away just like that. "It's my fault, Nick. Please don't blame Veronica." He pleaded.
Nick Cage looked at Toby Cage gloomily and sternly.
Veronica Parker hurriedly replied, "Toby Cage, this has nothing to do with you! Don't flatter yourself!"
Toby Cage frowned at her.
Veronica Parker looked at Nick Cage, and said nervously, "I come here to see Suzanne Roland and I just happened to see him."
