Chapter 191 Nick Cage's Plan
"Yes, I'll pay attention," Veronica answered.
Lisa stared at her for a moment and asked her, "Why are you wearing your hair down today?"
Everyone at the TV station was used to seeing Veronica with her hair tied up, and playfully glammed up, which is why Lisa easily noticed her different look today.
Veronica paused for a moment to think for a decent excuse, "Well, I don't know why, but recently I've been feeling chilly within my neck, so I've decided to just wear it down today."
Fortunately, Lisa seemed to believe her excuse. She can't tell her the reason why she can't tie up her hair.
She figured that she couldn't tell her the main reason why was because Nick Cage left the back of her neck some deep and shallow gnawed marks. She needed to lay her hair down, to avoid suspicions of other people. In the meantime, this was the best way to cover it up. Veronica and the rest of her workmates at the station were busy in the afternoon. They were all trying to polish their preparations. The premiere will be on Friday, and all of them are concerned about how the ratings would turn out.
Lisa and Veronica are the ones behind this proposal. The ratings are high, and so they were given a chance to have a say in the TV station. However, both of their careers were dependent on this proposal. For Veronica, it was for her promotion. If the ratings turned out poorly, her promotion would be postponed, and as for Lisa, she will be laughed at by Bella and the other top girls in their station.
, Veronica's cellphone started to vibrate. Originally, when she was off the stage, she would set her phone on vibrate mode only, but if she was working, she would turn it on.
She did not want to leave her phone on her desk, she was afraid that she might miss Isabella's call, just in case she wanted to see her.
She took her phone out of her pocket and looked who's calling her, she frowned when she realized who was it. She put her phone back into the pocket of her jeans, as she didn't want to talk to that person. It was from Chloe Bowen. She tried to ignore her calls several times, however, Chloe is a woman who won't stop until she was able to achieve her goal.
Veronica was in the grandstand and currently recording, so the others won't be looking for her for a while. Her phone was still vibrating making her very annoyed, it seemed like Chloe won't leave her alone until she answered her calls. Pissed off, she turned around and answers outside the door. "What can I do for you, this time? I am working! You are disturbing me!" Chloe raised her voice over the phone and excitedly answered her, "If there was nothing I could do about it, I wouldn't be looking for you. It's about Nick Cage! He wanted to buy the Cage family's company!" Veronica was stunned, "What does Nick wants to buy? Cage family's company? Isn't it Isiah's family's company?" "
"Nick already acquired the Isiah family's company, and now it seems like he's beginning to target the Cage family industry! But why would he do that? I suppose he's just getting back at the Cage family."
Veronica was surprised and shocked at what she heard.
She wanted to know more details about the incident, but she's still at work at now was not the time to talk about that.
"I'll just call you later, I am still working." She quickly told Chloe.
"Are you serious? Is that job of yours, more important than this matter?" Chloe asked her when she was about to hang up.
"So, what do you suggest for me to do?"
"Alright, I'll just visit you at the TV station, and talk about it."
"I can't leave my job right now!" Veronica told her.
"I will be waiting for you then, I won't leave until we meet." After that, Chloe hung up, leaving her still dumbfounded. She kept thinking about what Chloe, just informed her. At this point, all that she could do was to wait. She can't leave her work now. She just went back to the hall and continued what she was doing. The stage was still filming, and Veronica was standing in place, her mind preoccupied with thoughts. What was Nick thinking?
Why was he after Cage family industry?
Out of nowhere, Veronica remembered what Nick told her, which was, someone, will pay the money back for her. Does Nick mean, that the company that bought the Cage family is worth the money, just for the watch? Was that what he meant? Veronica suddenly thought that he was really going crazy. Did he do it purposely? Does he really wanted to buy the Cage family's company, or does he want her to choose between him and Chloe Bowen?
Maybe, It was just Nick's trap, and he was just waiting for her to fall into it.
She was certain that he won't make her feel any better, and that he would make her life harder once she started to speak for Chloe.
Maybe this man did it on purpose, just to look for her reaction regarding this matter.
When she had gone to the Cage family, and Nick knew about it, he was so mad that he even tortured her. And that happened just the day before yesterday.
For a short period, her body can not accept another Nick's attack anytime sooner.
