Sleeping had always been one of my favourite things, the feeling of the warm blanket felt like being caressed by your mother, having found the perfect position where every fibre of your body felt relaxed, the grogginess that makes all anxieties and worries disappear from your still asleep mind, but for some reason, sleeping today just felt like a waste of time, today my mind felt more awake than ever, more receptive to outside stimulation, and no matter what I did, I wasn't able to go back to sleep, and so my eyes opened, and the first thing I saw made me seriously question if I wasn't still sleeping.

If God exists he hates me, of all the things I have asked him to give me, he gives me the things I want the least, fucking powers, and from the looks of it, useless, what good is there in knowing I am as average as any other 18-year-old kid can be?
Hoping for this to just be a dream, I got up from my bed and rushed for the bathroom, my steps rushed and uncaring for my maybe still sleeping neighbours, this was more important.
I washed my face, several times, but every time I called my "Status" it appeared without fail.
'Okay Adrian, relax, this might just be your mind fucking with you, yeah, there is no way you got powers, out of all the FUCKING people in New York.' I thought while sitting on my desk chair and trying to calm my nerves, taking deep breaths and trying to relax my muscles, something I had gotten used to doing after years of living under the foster care system to avoid problems.

My right eye twitched for a second, but I waved the notification away and readied myself, even though I have powers now, school is more important.
Checking the time I saw it was still around 6:00 AM, which was way before my usual wake-up time.
' Ok, maybe not so useless if it means I can wake up every day at 6 AM.'
Taking things slow, I took a shower, changed clothes to a hoodie and some jeans, and made myself breakfast, something I usually don't have the time to do.

At the entrance of Midtown Highschool, I saw the usual jocks picking on their victims, though I usually wasn't one of those, today my luck seemed to hate me, so taking an opportunity when they were distracted by picking on their favourite victim, Peter Parker, I sneaked past them.

'WHAT THE FUCK YOU MEAN HELL?' I almost snapped and threw my book at it, but considering how much I spent for it I changed the idea and instead just cursed and willed it to be gone, not wanting to change my Video and Audio quality and maybe fuck up my vision or hearing, though before closing it I turned the background music up and was surprised to see that the songs in it were from my playlist.
Rubbing my eyes, I made the notification turn to a side view, and I turned the background music up to 20% and relaxed while listening to Radiohead and continued my review session.
By the time I had gained another level in history and another point to int, everyone arrived and the teacher was about to arrive and start class when I received something new.

The teacher finally arrived and after taking attendance, he began his lesson, for some reason, I felt inclined to pay attention, my brain felt like it needed to know new things, and learn. The usual boredom that came from history lessons was still present but felt like nothing more than an annoying mosquito.
' How much are these powers changing me?' I thought while rubbing my eyes and sighing.
" Riviera, if my lesson is so annoying to you, why don't you tell me the names of ships that Colombo used to travel to America?"
" Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria." The answer came faster than I thought I would have needed to remember such a useless fact.
"... Right, next time pay more attention though." And the teacher went back to his lesson.
'... Maybe they are more useful than I thought?' I thought and then continued paying attention.
If only I knew how right I was.
