Katherine’s POV:
Alexander just asked that I tutor him. The first time he asked me, I blatantly refused but now I had to agree. We are technically boyfriend and girlfriend now and we need to spend time with each other— or else, I won’t get an opportunity to make him fall very hard for me so I can break his heart badly. We have different tastes and interests, he’s more about sports, partying, and drinking and he hates school. While I, on the other hand, I’m particular about education and studying, hate sports, and have never taken alcohol in my life.
This tutorship is the only time we’d have similar interests and it’s a good opportunity, it would be a waste to not utilize it. I just hope I won't regret agreeing to this later. Alexander can be distracting and he would be a hindrance for me to achieving my goals and would also make my tutoring him hard.
But he’s begging, and he really wants to improve his grades and I have to help him. That’s the reason why I agreed.
“Thank you so much, Katherine. Don’t worry, I’ll try my best to not to slow you down and not to cause any distractions. I promise.” Alexander said to me, he looked so genuine and truthful saying it and I had no choice but to believe his promise, hoping he wouldn’t go back against his words and I won’t regret this.
“Sure. As far as you comply, we can achieve a whole lot.” I said to him and tried to give a smile of my own. I wanted to assure him that everything would go okay, but I was feeling nervous about it and felt that it might be a bit too risky to make assumptions about that.
“So when do we start?” He questioned and I thought about it. I hadn’t reasoned that before. But I don’t really have a date in mind, so he can propose a date and we start anytime he’s ready.
“I don’t know. But anytime that’s fine by you is fine by me.” I said to him and he nodded.
He smiled, “Alright. I’ll have to get back to you on that.” He answered and after that, silence followed as no one said a word between us. He just kept on staring at me, blatantly, like he had been doing previously and I felt my cheeks ting red, having to look away and detach from holding his gaze because I was shy. Why does he keep staring at me like that?
“Katherine, I want to take you on a date.” He said to me and my eyes widened. I was completely shocked and taken aback by his unexpected declaration.
A date? He wants to take me on a date? An actual date? Oh my God.
The shock was vivid on my face and I wished I was able to manage it properly and not let my inexperience show in that embarrassing manner. It was just a date, a simple date. Other girls go on dates every other day, why was I surprised to hear Alexander asking me out on one? Maybe it’s because it was the first time I was being asked out by anyone on a date.
“What’s wrong Katherine? Did I scare you?” Alexander asked me concernedly and I quickly broke out from my panicked thoughts and faced him. Great, he saw the embarrassing shock on my face at the mention of the date and I’m sure my cheeks had flushed hot red at that.
It was even more embarrassing for Alexander to think him asking me on a date scared me. Damn.
Alexander stood up from the couch and walked around the living room, feasting his eyes and nodding his head in admiration. “Nice house you’ve got Katherine.” He complimented me, but the only thing nice to me at that moment was how gorgeous Alexander looked at that moment.
I have never actually taken a good look at him before, I know he’s handsome and all but right now, in front of me, I finally had the liberty to feast my own eyes on him. He was a work of art, honestly and his body was so toned and perfect, it seemed like he lived at the gym. My eyes took note of every dent, every curve, and every contour of his pecs and biceps, generously shown against the fabric of his T–shirt. My eyes trailed down to his tattoo–sleeve, he had so many tattoos littered on his arm and I couldn’t even make out the meaning of a single one.
But I noted one, it was the letter T, boldened. And besides, it was a rose flower and both of the images were in a flaming heart. What did the letter T stand for? I made a mental note to ask him what it meant.
“No, you didn’t actually. I was just caught unawares.” I had to force myself to look away from his body and answer honestly. But he seemed to not be believing it; he turned to face me with a playful smile on his face and I didn’t know why. I furrowed my brows at him.
“What’s the matter, Alex? Why are you smiling at me like that?” I questioned and his smile broke into a teasing chuckle.
“Katherine Thorne, have you ever been asked out on a date before?” I knew my inexperience showed but did it show that bad? He immediately picked up on it and knowing Alex, he would use this to taunt me for days.
And there went my cheeks, betraying me again. Why did I always have to blush around him? “Yes, I have.” I lied, not being able to look into his eyes.
He laughed, “That’s not true Katherine and we all know it.” He stated matter of factly. “I can’t believe you’ve never gone on a date before, you’re freaking twenty!” He added, apparently he found it so amusing and that made my embarrassment change into the hurt that he was treating my situation as a laughing stock.
His laughter was so pure and I found a part of my hurt dying down at that. I was happy that he was in a good mood now and his eyes had begun to shimmer now, I could stare at them for all eternity and not get tired. And I appreciated how alive they looked now that he was in a good mood, compared to how he was when he had arrived earlier.
I heard his laughter die down immediately, “Katherine, I’m sorry.” He suddenly apologized to me and I turned to look at him. He wasn’t laughing anymore and he looked so remorseful. “I’m so sorry for laughing at you.” He apologized again and I was speechless, my tongue got tied as he began to walk to the couch where I was seated.
He bent down to my height and stared directly into my eyes, I was face to face with those breathtaking blue orbs of his and they stared deep into my eyes and even far deep in my soul, I felt his gaze there, searching. The rest of my orality was gone, I should’ve said I forgave him by now but I couldn’t utter a word, not when my being was being intimidated under the gaze of those intelligent eyes of his.
His hand found mine and he clutched it, my skin tingling touched, and my eyes traveled down to where his hand held mine. It felt so natural in his grasp like his hand was specially made and created just for mine to be kept in it.
“You said we could hold hands right?” He questioned, his voice low and raspy and he grazed the top of my hand with his thumb, it sent goosebumps all over. My gaze went back to his and immediately set its camp there, my eyes locking with his.
I nodded in affirmation.
“You may have not gone on a date before Katherine and that’s fine, in fact, that’s great for me because I’ll have no problem showing you that your long wait was not in vain. By the time the date is over, you’d be so happy that you never went out with any other guy.” His voice was still in a low whisper, but it held so much confidence and he was very sure in whatever he had planned, I believed him.
“Why?” I found myself asking before I could even comprehend it.
He smiled, “Because I’ll give you the best experience that deep down, you know no guy would be able to top.” My breath hitched at that, not only because of his statement but because his hand had left mine and his fingertips were trailing up my arm, his fingertips grazing my skin sent shivers down my spine.
“So Katherine Thorne, would you go on a date with me?”
I didn’t even need to think twice, “Yes Alexander, I will.”
