Unfortunately, the boy had no identification on him.
Chantelle asked gently to avoid frightening him. "Sweetheart, don't be scared. Can you tell me where your mommy is? Do you know how to reach her?"
Railer's breathing grew even weaker, and he was close to losing consciousness.
He couldn't speak, but his small, bloodstained hands held tightly to Chantelle's sleeve, enduring the pain in silence.
The boy's bright eyes were full of tears streaming down his cheeks.
Chantelle didn't know why, but her heart suddenly ached with a feeling she couldn't explain.
Gently, she pulled the boy into her arms. "Don't be afraid, my little one. I'll take you to the hospital first, and then we'll find your mommy... just stay awake, okay? Keep your eyes open, that's a good boy... look at me! Stay with me!"
Once they reached the hospital, the boy was rushed into surgery.
After a long operation, the doctors finally said he was out of danger.
Chantelle stayed by his side the whole time, not leaving even for a moment.
This boy was the same age as her own two sons.
For some reason, every time she looked at him, her heart hurt.
He reminded her of the son Daniel had taken from her.
It didn't take much to realize that the boy's life wouldn't be easy as long as Kate was around.
"Ms. Chantelle?" A voice suddenly called her, pulling her back to the present.
Calvin rushed over, looking like he was about to speak, but he hesitated for a moment. "Ms. Chantelle, it's young Kane. He... he'd run off again!"
Chantelle was startled and looked up. "Again? Do you know where he's gone?"
"He snuck away and followed us here! But as soon as we found him, he disappeared again. He said to tell you not to worry. He's not planning anything bad. He just wants to find his daddy. Once he's made his daddy regret how he treated you, he'll come back without a fuss."
Kane wanted to hunt down his daddy?!
Chantelle doesn't want Daniel to know about Kane and Steph, and she can't let Kane put himself in danger.
"Okay. I'll take care of it!"
So, the little troublemaker was getting restless, was he?
Determined to bring Kane home herself, Chantelle settled back on the couch, crossing her long legs.
She reached for the laptop beside her, opened it, and began searching for a way to track down her son.
While Chantelle was busy with her laptop, Kane Bently was in the lobby of Easthan Airport, wearing a baseball cap and a mask. He was trying to hide his face, worried that his mother's employees might recognize him.
He just wanted them to stop following him!
As soon as he landed in Easthan, he removed all his gadgets, but there were several people still following him.
There was no place to hide.
This wasn't working. He needed to find a way to lose his mother's employees, or he'd be too exhausted to track down his real father, the man who had abandoned his family.
Just then, an announcement on the video screens in the lobby caught his attention, and his eyes lit up.
"Newsflash! The famous Wilson family has reported a case of a missing person. Young Railer Wilson was last seen at the Brittin Memorial Garden, and his whereabouts are unknown. Today marks the 5th anniversary of Wesley Wilson's death, and the family was visiting the grave when Railer disappeared. The family is offering a one million dollar reward for the boy's safe return. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward."
A picture of Railer appeared on the screen right after the announcement.
Kane froze in his tracks, staring in disbelief.
Why did Railer look exactly like him?
Could they be related by blood, sharing the same father?
Kane quickly searched for information about the Wilson family, but the only thing he found was that Railer's father was a man named Daniel Wilson.
Unfortunately, there were no photos of him.
Could this Daniel person be the scumbag he was looking for?
If so, Kane knew what he had to do. He could sneak into the Wilson house and investigate his connection to Daniel.
It would also help him hide from the people chasing him, solving two problems at once!
Kane narrowed his eyes, staring at the face on the screen, which looked exactly like his own.
Suddenly, he grinned.
Sorry, Railer, but I need to borrow your face and identity for a little while!
Without wasting any more time, Kane pulled off his mask and baseball cap.
He walked confidently toward the airport's information desk, flashing a big, innocent smile at the young lady on duty. "Miss, don't you think I look like the boy on the screen over there?"
Hahaha! I'm Railer Wilson now! Hurry up and bring me to the Wilson house so you can collect the reward! He silently celebrated his clever decision.
Daniel's employees spent the whole day searching the cemetery and the hill but found nothing.
The only clue they found were faint bloodstains near the parking lot by the cemetery.
Kate sat beside Daniel on the couch, her long legs tucked beneath her.
The black dress hugged her figure, showing off her delicate collarbones.
Her eyes were filled with tears as she spoke, her voice full of worry and guilt. "I'm so sorry, Daniel. It's my fault for not keeping an eye on Railer! With his condition, if..." She couldn't hold back her tears and sobbed, "If anything happens to him, I..."
Daniel sat there, clearly angry.
He ripped off his tie angrily and snapped at her, "Stop crying like a fool!"
Kate was stunned upon hearing his loud voice. She was about to speak again when Ashton burst through the door, looking excited.
"Sir, we've got some news! The cemetery's surveillance cameras were all damaged, but we found a clue. One of the drivers who parked near the cemetery managed to capture something on video. It was the mysterious woman we saw on the hill! She was leaving the cemetery carrying a child. She was also the one who visited Mr. Wesley's grave and left the bouquet of lilies!"
Daniel immediately stood up, his cold eyes darted on Ashton's face. "Are you sure about this?"
Ashton nodded. "Yes. We don't know who the woman is, but we found her car at the Easthan Community Hospital. Young Railer was seriously injured, but thankfully, he's out of danger now."
Daniel frowned and said, "Let's go!"
Kate was thrown into a panic. Realizing it was too late to stop Daniel and Ashton, she gasped, "Is that true? How is Railer? Daniel, I want to go to the hospital with you and see him!"
Where did this mysterious woman come from?
How was Railer still alive after she had pushed him off such a high cliff?
She wanted to go with Daniel, but he had already left, giving her no chance to stop him.
