She blinked and frowned. "Huh. It's Sheena."
"I see. It's good to know that it wasn't you who started the fight."
Her eyes widened. "Are you really satisfied?" She looked at him, bewildered. "Seeing me like this doesn't bother you? What kind of husband are you?"
Gideon smiled softly and approached her. He put his hand on the top of her head but the gesture annoyed her.
"I didn't say anything like that. I am happy to know that my wife is not a warfreak student. Just often get involve in troubles," Gideon said.
She smirked and rolled her eyes. "Sheena is the only one who hates me. If I am given a chance, I won't fight with her. I don't want to waste my time with that mad girl!"
Gideon nodded and squinted his eyes. "And why would she hate you?"
Before she could answer, she saw the nurse approaching them. Jewel kept her mouth shut.
"Deon, are you fighting my patient?" Nurse Julie asked.
Gideon frowned. "No."
The nurse laughed softly. "Okay." And she turned to her. "Drink this first, Miss. When you're sleepy, you can sleep. Don't worry, there are only two patients now including you." The nurse turned to Gideon again. "And you, you can go back to faculty. I'll take care of my patient, Deon."
"It's okay. We haven't finished talking yet," Gideon said.
The nurse looked at her and Gideon. "Deon, she needs to rest---"
"Julie." Gideon placed his hand on the nurse's shoulder. "She's my student and responsibility."
"D-Deon ..."
Gideon smiled while Jewel's gaze had already darkened at the sweet scene in front of her. Why would women want to grab her husband's attention without minding that she, his wife, is in front? Such desperate losers!
Her breathe hitched when Nurse Julie caressed Gideon's cheek before walking away.
"Is the show over, Mr. Deon?" She asked sarcastically.
Gideon folded his arms again. "Who is this Marquez?"
Jewel squinted her eyes. "Who is this Nurse Julie?"
There was a sudden pause before Gideon answered. "My ex-girlfriend."
"So honest. I never thought that you like to flirt with other women in front of your wife, Mr. Hernandez."
Gideon's brows met. "Don't change the subject, Jewel. Speak who is this Marquez."
Jewel gritted her teeth and looked away. This man was too stuborn and cold! "She's nothing," she said between gritted teeth.
"Jewel."
She pursed her lips into a thin line. "I don't know why she keeps on insisting that I should stay away from Simoen. I have no plans to restore my relationship with Saavedra!"
"Is she jealous?"
"Of course!" Else, why would that girl hate her so much?
"She knows that you're married."
Jewel's heart skipped a beat and she looked at Gideon. "How did you know?"
The corner of his lip rose. "That girl's gaze was profound and she was listening to us in the next bed."
Her eyes widened and quickly pulled back the green curtain on the side of the bed, separating her from the other chamber.
"Sheena!" she exclaimed.
Sheena was sitting leisurely on the bed and when their gazes met, the girl grinned. "Hello there, checkmate." She laughed. "And last, I caught you admitting your secret. So, your husband is just another Professor." The girl turned to Gideon. "Hi there, Professor."
"Your cheeks are burning red," Gideon commented.
Sheena blinked. "Oh, yeah. It still hurts. But I'm okay, thank you."
Jewel folded her arms and leaned forward. "Now you know who my husband is, can you stop pestering me? If you like, you can eat Simoen so you don't have a competitor. That's what you want, isn't it? Grabbing things that aren't yours."
"Jewel," Gideon called, reprimanding her for saying rude words.
She felt even worse. Jewel did not want Gideon to reprimand her else she'll be embarrassed in front of her mortal enemy.
Sheena laughed. "Simoen was mine in the first place. He's only been with you for almost two years, but we've been betrothed since childhood. I really don't care if it's you whom he cherishes or any other b*tch want to covet him."
The smile disappeared from the girl's lips. "But everything changed when my Tito Khalil entered this University. When he found out that you and Simoen were dating, he threatened me. So even if I don't like that Simoen Castler Saavedra, I need to make sure you don't stay together. And I succeeded in parting you two apart. And you're right, he should be beaten for being your tail. "
But that's okay, at least for now. What bothers me the most is ..." Sheena's eyes narrowed as she smiled. "If you truly love Simoen, why is it easy for you to let him go? I want to know why, Jewel Laine Mangubat-Hernandez." Sheena then laughed.
She was about to get up and escape, but Gideon grabbed her by the shoulder. Jewel bit her lips. She really didn't want to bring up the past between her and Simoen in front of Gideon, but Sheena's too hateful and now, Gideon was blocking her path.
"Miss Marquez, I want to do some business with you," Gideon suddenly said.
Sheena frowned. "What is it, Professor?"
Gideon smiled. "Seems like your parents are strict. What if, your Tito Khalil will represent them in the office, as I also want to talk with him."
Sheena's face suddenly lost color and averted her gaze. "N-No. He's even worse than Dad."
"Do you want your parents to visit the office, Ms. Marquez?"
Sheena's fist clenched. "No ... No." The girl suddenly turned to Jewel and pointed at her. "It's all your fault! You can't do anything else but ruin my life!" Annoyed, Sheena wiped away the tears that suddenly flowed down on her cheeks.
Jewel was stunned. "But you've started the fight," she whispered.
"No! It's not me, it's on you! If you hadn't flirted with Simoen, if you hadn't been too flirty! This will never happen!"
"Miss Marquez, watch your words," Gideon warned.
Sheena burst out laughing. "There. That's the only thing she's good at." She turned violently at her direction. "Many people are defending you! All of them! That's why you're impulsive! You're not afraid to make mistakes because someone will get the consequences of your actions! You never experience being obligated and responsible! A princess as they say! Huh! A good for nothing princess! "
Jewel just stared at Sheena. She did not know what to feel. She stayed there, still and speechless. If Sheena only knew what she was going through, would she still be able to say those words? But... what if she's right?
Her eyes darted at the entrance of the clinic when she heard footsteps. She saw Simoen. He's sweaty and breathless from running. The boy quickly approached her.
"Laine, are you okay?" he asked. He was about to touch her but she avoided his hand. "Laine, baby..."
"I already told you, we're over. Do you understand my words, Simoen? There's Sheena!" Her finger pointed at the girl sitting on the bed. "Sheena is your fiancee! Stop bothering me!"
Simoen looked at Sheena. Jewel saw the shock in his eyes. "Marquez? Why are you here?" When he saw the bruises and palm prints on Jewel's cheeks, he seemed to understand the problem. His expression became serious. "Did you look for trouble with Laine again, Marquez?"
Sheena laughed, eyes full of coldness. She stood up and walked towards the door. "Fine! Get Tito Khalil! The Princess Jewel is just too precious! I'm afraid, I can't offend her!" Sheena sarcastically yelled.
