“Reign?” I asked to clarify even though everything is already clear. My heart was beating so hard as I placed my phone on my right ear, lying down and facing the ceiling.
“I said, I miss you,” Reign’s baritone voice filled my ears. It feels like we are together even though we are just talking through the phone. I swallowed and sit from lying on the bed.
“What should I answer?” I asked without thinking. I gently poke my head. What kind of question was that, Ruchee? As waiting for Reign’s answer, my heart furiously beat like it was breaking of from the cage.
“Don’t you miss me?” Reign’s breathy voice sends shivers down to my spine. It feels like he was demanding me to answer that I miss him.
“How are you?” I asked changing the topic. I don’t know what to answer. I was flustered especially about his introduction earlier after I answered the call.
“Don’t change the topic, woman. Did you miss me?” Reign asked again but this time, in a strong voice. I feel like he really wants to know what I’m going to answer. I sigh. I was flustered and nervous on what to answer or how will Reign react about it.
“Yes. I miss you,” I said and immediately turned off the call. My hands were trembling as I stared at the phone while biting my lower lip. Is turning turning off the call was the right thing to do?
I’m nervous! This is the first time I’ve ever said I missed someone, especially it was a guy and it’s Reign! I was startled when the phone on my hands suddenly rang. Without any hesitations, a answered the call and turn it on loud speaker.
“Why did you turned off the call?” Reign asked and I can feel the irritation on his voice. I shut my mouth as I bit my lower lip to suppress myself. My heart was beating furiously while my mind was having many thoughts, “Why can’t you directly say that you missed me, Ruchee?” I softened on how he mentioned my name. Reign’s voice was full of tenderness.
“Because I’m embarrassed!” I hissed and then look away as if Reign was in front of me. His stares suddenly came inside my mind and with that, it gives me butterflies inside my stomach. I hate this feeling of being in love!
“Why are you shy? I’m your man and you are my woman. We shouldn’t be ashamed with each other anymore because I already saw you naked in fro--” I immediately turned off the call, not wanting to hear about Reign’s next words.
I put the phone away and lay to bed. I reached for the pillow and immediately squeezed my face into it. I don’t know but my heart was beating furiously than before and I can feel happiness building inside my body.
I could no longer control myself and giggles, trapping them under the pillow. I put my right hand on my chest and let it rest there for awhile, feeling the rush of my emotions.
I didn’t really expect to feel something like this and what’s more, I did not expect such emotions like this to come in my life. Again, I was startled when the phone beside me rang.
I immediately removed the pillow from my face and quickly reached for the phone that was ringing next to me. I stared at the number flashing on the screen; it was the same number earlier. While my hands are shaking, I pressed the green button. My heart was thumping so hard!
“It’s the second time you turned off the phone while talking to me, woman. Next time you do this, I won’t let you off the hook,” Reign said with an authority causing me to stiffen because his voice through the phone was intimidating! What more if we are talking while facing each other!
I didn’t answer. My lips were twitched! I’m not scared but because I was still overwhelming from what Reign have said earlier, “Are you still there?”
“Yes!” I hissed because Reign’s baritone voice startled me again.
“What are you doing?”
“Lying?”
“Why are you not sure?”
“Because I don’t know how to initiate this phone call. This is my first time so I was flustered and I don’t know what to say,” I heard Reign cough on the other line, “Are you okay?” I asked with a worried voice.
“Yes,” he answered. I can feel that he was trying to suppress his laugh to burst out.
“Take it out or you will choke to death and repent it with your whole life,” I said sarcastically. I want to ask what’s funny for Reign to suppress his feelings.
“You’re cute,” after Reign said that, I suddenly fell silent. My heart suddenly beats furiously as if a race was going on inside my chest. I put my hands in front of my face, covering my mouth and not letting any noise coming from it, “I heard your loud heartbeats from here. Are you flustered?” Reign asked. I don’t know why but I found his voice mocking me.
“What?” my heartbeat got louder as I heard Reign’s chuckles from the other line.
“You are too beautiful that I cannot bear to see any man lurking around you or touch you except me,” I didn’t say any words. I can feel the intense Reign’s voice.
I can even visualize his expression while saying this words to me. I don’t know what or how to describe this feeling but it makes my heart race for its own road.
“I don’t know what will happen if I see you with someone else. I just want you to be happy with me. Only with me,” Reign emphasizes the last word. I don’t what he was saying and I also thought that he’s already finished but then, he suddenly talk again.
“I love you for a long time,” his voice was soft that made me feel the butterflies again on my stomach. For a long time? I wanted to asked Reign about what he means but he is not yet finished on talking, “You’re mine,” Reign stopped between his heavy breaths.
I don’t know how to intrude on Reign’s words. Not because I’m afraid to cut what he wants to say but because I want to hear all of them.
“You are my possession and no one can take you away from my hands. Even if you come with them willingly, I will force you to come with me and choose me all over again. I won’t let you think of a decision because I determine for who you belong and you are mine,”
“If anyone else tries to take you from me, he will pass into my hands. If he can knock me out of this world and out from your life, I will give you up but,” Reign paused, “If you are the one between the fight, never. I will never be defeated. I’m the king of your world. I rule everything on you,” I was about to say something when Reign become silent but someone called Reign on the other line.
“Boss, everything is settled. We can raid the enemy’s lair,” the voice was familiar and I think it was one of the twins. It’s not good eavesdropping from the other line but there’s nothing I can do. I can hear their conversation from the phone.
“I’ll be there,” Reign said and a moment of silent bestowed between us. I could hardly get into my mind everything Reign had said before. I don’t know where to start digesting all he said. It was as if he was giving me a warning that I need curve inside my mind that only him owns me.
If it was then, I would think Reign only sees me as an item because he bought me at such a huge cost. But not now, especially when he said he love me. What more I can do, I also have feelings for him and that thing was keep on building higher than before.
“Why are you saying this?” I asked when no one talks between us for a while. I was only encouraged because I heard they were still walking. Enemy? I knew it would be a dangerous job for him to do. I want to ask but I don’t want to interfere.
I remember Reign saying that he didn’t want me to get involved in whatever trouble he had and this was probably the only thing I could do for him.
“Why I am saying this?” Reign asked and I gently nodded as if he will see it. I know that I can’t see him but I have this feeling; he wa smiling while saying the next words, “I am possessive and you are my possession,” I could not move from where I was sitting. My body was frozen because of Reign’s word adding with his last words that made my mind floating on the sky.
“I need to go. I love you, my woman,”
